Why the fuck is Illaoi so weak?

Seriously. She is ENTIRELY skillshot based, has no CC, no movement, nothing. Yet, here I am with 350 AD, 4.4k HP, 180 armor, 130 MR... totally unable to fight anyone. Gnar kicks my ass, and can just ignore my entire kit. Glass Ori takes no damage but does 600 a Q. Shaco has no armor pen but hits me for 800 an auto while never dying... I can even land a 5 man + spirit ult (6 tentacles), and do no damage to anyone.

Why the fuck are braindead champions rewarded so much more than any more complex champions?

That pretty much answers you whole question doesn't it? She is flawed by design. You have no gap closing beyond that shity W, barely any sustain, an Ult that is worst than telegraphed, its fucking pigeon messenging at this point, and she is melee...

Gnar counters juggernauts and low mobility champs in general, like Darius, Jax and Garen.

Ori is a zone control mage. Illaoi has no gap closing. Is there an Ekko in here?

It has nothing to do with braindead champs and rewards. Garen is a ''Braindead champ'' if you mean braindead as in very basic and unmechanical kit. his simple yet effective kit is what makes him a better pick over Illaoi's underpowered and unsynergized kit.
