To anyone wanting to spam up the board on Uberdangers behalf about SotO

You might want to stop and think about if item 3141 is actually a good item or not.

Because Uberdanger is pretty unique in how he uses it. 99.9% of people do not buy it early, often, and not knowing they have it in the bag, just hoping they'll get 20 stacks. In the majority of cases, it's something bought when you've easily won lane, and think you'll be able to get a few more easy kills before laning is over so you can roam with high stacks post laning, which prevents it from ever being used as a "high risk, high reward" item. For example, the Devourer enchant is a "high risk high reward" item because it's something you intend to buy usually before the game has even started, or at latest after your first jungle clear, which is typically before you know how things are fairing in the game, you have no idea if you'll be able to farm for stacks, or if you're gonna be getting stacks from ganks. for the typical SotO situation to actually fail it's "risk", the opposing team would all have to suddenly decide to shut you down HARD the instant you bought it, I'm talking 3-4 man ganks anytime you step a toe off your tower, otherwise you either A: wouldn't have bought it, B:stomped with it, or C: at least got enough kills thanks to it that's it's fine to sell it back now that you're getting focused (1400 gold isn't exactly big money).

Even besides it hardly ever being picked up in "risky" scenarios, the item isn't that balanced, and you don't have to look any farther than Uberdangers own videos for proof, where you have shit like killing champs in a single auto attack, a snowball item shouldn't turn you into an avalanche that cannot be dealt with, and 105 AD from a single item ABSOLUTELY does that.

I like Uberdanger, but I sure won't miss item 3141, and I hope item 3041 joins it in the grave sooner rather than later.

It's not about SotO, it's about the reasoning and attitude behind it. It's about what removing the item truly means. The title of the video would suggest it's about SotO, but the theme is more; Competitive play is excelling at the expense of casual play.

And frankly I agree with him, ever since I started League, the majority of Riot's decisions have made the game nearly unwinnable alone, and they are continually building on the already team-reliant nature of the game (Yay for 3-4 man "solo queue").

I'm unsure if by competitive play you're referring to pro play or just people who are competitive about the game in general, but I feel like the removal of SOTO is aimed almost exclusively at benefiting casual play. SOTO doesn't exist outside of casual play outside of like... several randomers who like taking unnecessary risk, and keeping unhealthy items in the game for the sake of the few people who like being the only people to use it is something they just don't do (see: Zeke's Herald).

SOTO has a list of problems that make its removal a good (and frankly long overdue) idea. Most of those problems are things related to it only being used by, and negatively impacting, 'casual' players.

I mean if you have friends or know how to make them this shouldn't be a bad thing... I understand some people like to be alone and stuff, but for the majority of people, we are social creatures. Therefore it makes sense that Riot would push a game to be team reliant. I don't know about you but I have a lot more fun playing league, video games, and anything really with other people.

Rito either needs to delete both or keep both, although this is the only thing that has been in AP champs favour as of late

IMO there are some big differences between Mejai's and SOTO which make Mejai's significantly healthier. I'd still rather not have Mejai's in the game, but the two items are different enough that "treat one as you would the other" doesn't really apply to them in my opinion.

110 ad for assassins or close range ad champs and yet one of the best mejai's users is Xerath who is the best poke mage i know of.

What's your point? If your point is that SOTO is healthier because it's harder to use then you don't understand the problems with SOTO, nor the snowball items in general.

yes the marksman update but they should remove mss along with it

ChaosThief1 votes

I think it's just practical application.

Marksman and AD champions tend to have much more reliable abilities, as well as AD being applied to undodgeable, point and click auto attacks.

Whereas mejais, the AP variant, can only apply to abilities, which either A: can be dodged or B: has a short range.

And the only items that can make auto attacks apply AP is item 3100 and item 3115 .

So the case to me seems that occult will just make AD champions snowball even more with no hope of fighting back, whereas AP champions can be fought anyway if you watch your step.

Except unlike SotO, Mejai's gives bonuses to defense AND offense,

Janna gets it because building AP gives her insane MS, which makes her hard to kill.

Lulu, Janna, Orianna, Lissandra, Soraka, Nunu, Lee Sin, Sona, Taric, Alistar, Diana, Akali, and others have shields or heals that scale off AP, in addition to damage that scales off AP.

SotO is purely offensive, the only champs who shield or heal off AD are Riven and Fiora.

Personally I just tell them to send an email instead of a boards post, since that's what Uber asked.

I like your argument though. It has some flaws, but overall I like it.

I don't like Uber, but I like items. SotO is an item. I like SotO.

I don't like SotO, and I'm glad it's going away. But I actually like the new Mejai's. Lower cap, slightly more reliable, gives mana and movement speed, and builds out of a starting item so you can start stacking it early. And because it's a mage item, the champions that build it tend to be a little less Leeroy Jenkins, and can actually accomplish things. Even a caster support could build an early Dark Seal.

Playing a Full stacked Talon SoTo is like the funniest experience ever. And this item isn't even viable, so you don't have to see it every game. But you know the counterplay to getting Stacks for Mejais and SoTo is simply don't feed guys.

Ill miss that item. I never see it in pvp, but 1v5 custom games vs bots are a fun way to use it. You get stacks asap and crush them before they start grouping and dogpile you

I buy it first item almost every game and sell it around 35 minutes when I inevitably fuck up.
