Concerning One-Tricks (a different viewpoint)

Rather than dodging if you don't get your pick, you should learn to one-trick a lane, not a champion. It's an awful fate of one-tricks to end up as a liability to their team if their champion either:

  • gets a buff, going from a strong champion to main to a top ban or (or rather, often as a result of the first)
  • gets gutted to the point that mains can't main them

Rather than being someone entirely reliant on getting {champion#} every single game, you should do as the professionals do. Learn your lane so well that any change in the meta can be met with a change in your pick.

Instead of restricting yourself, you should become, as the saying goes, "a jack of all trades, master of none. But better than a master of one." In League, that is the solid truth. The best of the best are not champion mains, they are masters of lanes.

I didn't imply that.

OTP who can only do 1 thing are a handicap for their team. Not all of their games but true for every game their 1 champ gets baned, or their hard counted gets picked.

If they are a true OTP it won't matter if they are hard countered... like what is this logic? Unless the other person is another OTP of their counter or the enemy Jungle camps the poo out of them, there is almost no chance that they're going to lose lane (or at least, be any less useful than they would normally). OTP's are on a completely different level than a "normal" player who just plays everything. They have the experience to win against every champion and any champion, including the ones that counter them.

When I get counter picked on Riven, I don't fear anything. In fact, when someone picks Darius or Garen, I feel relieved because those are literally the match-ups that I am THE MOST familiar with. To a point in fact, that I actually think I have a much easier time dealing with those two champions than just about any other champions in the game. If someone bans Riven, hell even if I don't get my role, I can play every single other role to where I at least won't feed even against a better opponent.

And yes, I am the definition of a OTP, I have some 1,500 - 2,000 ranked games over my several accounts on Riven alone. In season 5 I played almost 400 ranked games on Riven with one account.

So no, I don't agree with any type of post like this. OTP's aren't causing any harm anywhere, nor is there really that much proof of it statistically. Boxbox still wins games, even when he not playing Riven. So does Adrian Riven, Revenge, Viper, Best Riven NA, and every single other high tier Riven OTP. You can hate all you want lol there simply isn't any available data that can prove the theory that OTP's cause their team to lose when their champion is banned.

Even OTP can resort to Maokai or Malphite when they get outbanned lol.
