Can Sorcery get reworked more specially for mages season 9?

What I mean is to remove all this moves speed runes for bruiser, add it to precision or resolve, and make more mage specific runes for actual mages? So we don't have to share our tree with everyone else?

Rune trees aren't for specific types of champions.

Sorcery isn't just for mages.

Yeah Mages just don't get a tree period lols.

But it is mostly for them, like how many ad champions are using this tree? 2?

Aatrox Darius

Only two I can think of.

XinZhao too

well uh, I've taken domination for some mages, and even played some wacky inspiration mages. is there perhaps a way to add something in precision for mages? not so much for the attack speed bonus's but I like coup-de-grace, triumph, presence of mind, legend: tenacity a lot. I would very much love to play some mages with more, duel-oriented styles. what would you recommend for that?

Rune trees aren't for specific types of champions.

Sorcery isn't just for mages.

I know that, but all other tree are more role specific than sorcery. Sorcery tree lends itself to supports, bruisers and mages. No other tree supports that many classes. This means there are less runes for actual mages than compared to what is offered to an ADC the precision tree..... ADC, can pick 3 to 4 keystones in precision. Most mages only have 1 real keystone in sorcery, Arcane comet. Summon Aery works well for supports and phase rush is geared toward bruisers.

GayFluffyUnicorn7 votes

Phase rush for bruisers when literally everyone who takes it is a mage?

Chembaron Yamada2 votes

Don't know why you get downvoted, the majority of champions I see taking it are battlemages. AurelionSol Viktor Vladimir Swain Ryze

The only bruiser I can come up with using it primarily is this guy: XinZhao

Shadow Voltz2 votes

Don't ever take phase rush Viktor Vladimir

Darius You could argue that he uses it

Its just overall not a great rune would much rather they just bring back storm raiders

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

If you claim that Vladimir never takes it, with 13% pickrate on him, then no, you can't argue that Darius takes it, since he just uses it 10% of the time.

Viktor, granted, doesn't use it anymore with the whole tank Viktor stuff going on. When I am going Viktor mid, I always take this rune to escape better and being able to chase enemies with my ult.

Point still stands, majority of champions using it are mages, not bruisers.

Stars Shaper1 votes

I can talk as an Aurelion Sol main, what is he supposed to build then? Comet plainly sucks on him and Aery doesn't give half an advantage, the only thing he can get is PR just because it's movement speed, not because it's the right rune for him.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

Well, but it's not like Aurelion Sol wouldn't appreciate movement speed and slows alot, is it? Because of his kit, he gets alot of benefit out of movement speed, since it allows him to kite and boop enemies to death more effectively.

Stars Shaper1 votes

I know but it's just a lesser evil kind of choice. Positioning and such are core of Aurelion's play pattern but overall if you learn how to play you don't need PR and time to time it's even detrimental as you end up being so fast at chasing that you have to get back a bit and this back&forth movements in order not to lose your target and not giving them a huge chance at retailate.

Chembaron Yamada2 votes

I don't have experience on him, so genuinely asking: If it is a lesser evil kind of choice, why can't he go Electrocute instead? It has the same activation pattern and adds damage, something that he probably values.

So if it has the same pattern, doesn't that mean he gets more out of the MS than of the damage?

Stars Shaper1 votes

I personally experimented a bit with him and found out that Electrocute was useful only as a snowballer in matchups I could have won easily even without, plus the other runes of the tree don't really help him (especially since they removed item 3030 from his core build).

Overall he had become more and more dependant on the Inspiration tree because of the tonic rune because item 2033 is a must pick as starter and not taking that rune makes your early game really heavy.

LeBlanc Rose1 votes

Optimal choices aren't the only choices. Just because Comet may be "better" doesn't mean that Aery, Electrocute, and Phase Rush don't all have their niches?

Also what bruisers take sorcery, save Xin? There are some very strange darius builds using it, but I haven't seen it used in ages.

Trees can have more than one audience as well. 8 of the runes are obviously made for mid mages, and considering that Adcs have 9, it doesn't really seem that bad in comparison.

Stars Shaper4 votes

Yet there are a lot of Mages that simply need some of the Sorcery runes (rather funny to call it "Sorcery" and then come out with: "It's not for mages though" but I get that it's more about using skills in general) but have no real synergy with most of the keystones and usually go for the lesser evil of the bunch.

Z3Sleeper1 votes

With that said though, it's intended to be more tailored to them, yet it favors hardly any.

Considering there is a tree for AD & Tanks umm, Sorcery SHOULD just be for mages. Mage's get the short end of the stick on literally everything in league.

ModWulf Helhammer2 votes

Precision and Resolve aren’t just for AD or tanks. There’s several good runes for AP champs in Precision, and Resolves is open to everyone (right now Lissandra uses Aftershock in fact, as well as AP Galio)

saltran7 votes

No, the mage circlejerk is only relevant on the Boards btw

RyzeTheSmurfMage2 votes

Cause reddit is full of people that worship LCS like their life and fate of the world depends on it and don't give a shit about the actual game?

iDarkWind2 votes

No, it's because they actually have brain before talk crap like boards do, wich is like 99% of the time saying that mages are in a bad spot that need further buffs. Ah, and don't forget to nerf assassins while you are at.

Warlord Rhinark6 votes

I want Deathfire Touch back as a fourth keystone.

Jerry SeinfeId6 votes

literally no other tree is specifically for 1 class, but mages should get one? fuck the circlejerk is evolving.

LeftyRaydy2 votes

precision is probably the most specific of all classes and by this I mean anyone that is AA reliant.

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

the only drawback rn is that it gives AS which most non aa champs don't really need. You can still use it though, fleet only requires 1 auto and most mages have enough range. all the non keystone runes are usable by plenty of champs, i can't even imagine playing karthus without last stand + presence of mind at this point.

LeftyRaydy1 votes

press the attack?

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

i mean the non keystone runes by that. i'll clarify that.

and pta would increase spell damage after 3 auto's so while it isn't good it's possible.

LeftyRaydy1 votes

Literally only 2 things in this tree give attack speed. Lethal Tempo and Alacrity. So I am not sure where you are going with this.... Everything else is more damage Press the Attack, Fleet Footwork, Conqueror, Overheal, Triumph, Presence of mind Legend Tenacity, Legend Bloodline, Coup De Grace, Cut Down, and Last stand

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

.... the raw stats.

LeftyRaydy1 votes

Yes but it makes it Specific to AA champs. Atack speed is good for AA reliant champions thus it's mostly for markman and melee AA champs like Yasuo. How do AA champs not need attack speed if that was true why do most marksman take Alacarity instead of Bloodline. Answer is because the attack speed given in these runes allow you to be more damage focused. So the Attack speed is actually very important.

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

what does that have to do with other classes not being able to use it? the as makes it less attractive for for example mages, but it's still usable and depending on your champ even not a big deal. the power i gain as karthus from last stand PoM is imo more than enough to make up for the as.

I never said as champs can't use it, why would i say that? as champs also belong to different classes so that's already more than 1 using it.

I believe OP is referring to using a tree as a priority so are you taking Precision as your primary tree, Secondary Trees are whatever as you have to take one and are you taking precision as Karthus's because one taking precision as a primary on Karthus, because that sounds god awful, second why not run sorcery and domination? If I were you I would play Karthus with

Sorcery Comet, Manaflow Band, Trancendence, and gathering storm Domination Either (Taste of Blood or Eyeball collection) and Ultimate Hunter

I think this would be much better for Karthus Overall

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

That Will be possible next preseason.

I run aery primary. But I use precision as secondary, Same for AP malph but with comet. The amount of ult CD is just ridiculous and last stand works in passive.

Step Sis Lux4 votes

i wish but as much as i know riot, i know they wont do it. Still waiting for 4th key rune in sorce tree

Kairoptra4 votes

{quoted}

For example, we know some of the names feel a little exclusionary and thematically off for some of their core champions (looking at you, “Sorcery”).

Sorcery is not meant to be strictly for mages and never was.

Yes, a lot of mages go straight to Sorcery and need variety, but each tree is meant to support more than one class, whether the tree be primary or secondary.

Precision is not just "the on-hit tree"; it has all sorts of runes that are helpful in loads of combat situations.

Domination is not just "the assassin tree"; it has a lot of things to help any number of champions that roam the map, such as supports and junglers in general.

Resolve is not just "the tank tree"; loads of champs regardless of stats can make great use of defenses, particularly bruisers.

Don't even get me started on Inspiration.

Similarly, Sorcery's non-mage users should not be restricted from taking it primary or secondary because mages don't have enough variety. If anything, other trees should give them more options to do their jobs better other than just "more damage". Sorcery has enough variety; others (particularly Domination) need to branch out.

Śhunpo3 votes

Ah, so you want rune diversity to be killed entirely. Thanks guy....

YuGiHo2 votes

yes please! give us some non battle mage specific interactions. cloak rune feels like it exist just because swain got reworked

purplexbutterfly2 votes

Mages can use a lot of different runes. A lot of mid mages use domination/sorcery. As a support I do tend to use sorcery as my primary but I have played games with inspiration/resolve. It depends on how I want to play that champ, team comp etc.

As a mage main, I'd say open up the rest of the trees for ability focused champions instead. If I see "the next basic attack does x" on a rune AGAIN, I swear to the gods...

Precision tree does need to be the most mobile tree in the game

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

Shouldn't Domination be the most mobile? I mean, it says "target access" in the description.
