My PoV on shortage of supports

Do you guys know why only small portion of players want to play as supports? Why supports are in high demand?

It is very easy question. Because only handful of us, players, want to play a game as:

  • poor
  • dispensable
  • ball of CC/Heals
  • that everyone blames
  • all while being slaves to ADC/rest of team
  • with all items set to match what others need

You, as support, see Top, Mid or ADC build shiny expensive items, while you yourself can't even afford a FKING WARD. And even when you accidentaly get a kill along with small burst of gold, then you are pretty much FORCED to buy items for the ADC/Team.

The disparity between supports and other laners is so huge, that it almost feels like real life minigame where you work at minimal wage trying to feed 10 mouths, cause you were too greedy to get good condoms.

#**That's why most of players avoid playing support role. **#

This isn't fixable for as long as Riots priority goes like this: ADC > any other class > germs & bacteria > support

  • New items? With next active? Cool. Doesn't solve anyhing, but cool!
  • More gold? Cool! Now you can afford 3 items with actives (still none for you)
  • Cheap and usefull items with nice ap/ mana regen? It'll become must-buy for MID-laners, then nerfed and forgotten.

Here's how to fix this once and for all: Scrap the idea of a support (don't hate yet, read on) Change those "supports" as either tanks (thresh) or mages (Soraka) Change how gold is distributed from passive time/assists etc. Let every lane get equal share. No more "1-man army Vayne versus world" just cause she got feed to next-gen level. Those mages/tanks who were supports before would still be used Bot, but they'd have power on their own.

######Small note to true support mains, who play as supports right now: ######You might think of me as an idiot that tries to destroy your class. ######If supports were truly fine class, then we wouldn't had any problems finding a support for a match.

So being a Support? That's not the problem, it's your screwed up outlook on Supporting. Sure, you are poor. You probably are a ball of CC/heals. People may blame you. You definitely build items set to match others need. But thats the job. Support. Its in the name. YOU AREN'T however, dispensable or a slave to your team. What Support players are is:

  • The spine of their team
  • The watchful eye
  • The caretaker

Don't think of yourself as the babysitter, think of yourself as the god among men. Your allies aren't babies, they are men. You aren't a babysitter, you are a god. Heck, I've heard a lot of people talk about Supports being blamed, yet as a Bard main, I'm hardly ever blamed. When I am, usually the rest of my time disagrees with the complainer. That's the thing. Change your view of Support and you instantly like the role more. You aren't a babysitter, you are the car engine. Your ADC might be the wheels, but where is a car without an engine.

Keep picking fill in dynamic duo Gets support in the last four games all wins too

But I sure wanna play top I keep ending up as adc or support whenever I put primary fill

Like everytime I get picked jg or top someone dodges :/

I agree supports are the most dispensable member of your team like for some odd reason they never go for the carries They keep 5 man ulting me for my 25 Mejais stacks :/

Making equal gold would be the worst thing ever. Imagine your playing mid against a zed. Your bot lane feeds so now zed is fed and you just lost lane basically. Your plan would remove the ability to win lane unless every lane wins. It would be unfair for the simple reason that you can play great but still lose to your fed laner who's done nothing but leach off the 10-0 lane. League would be 100x more toxic because when someone makes a mistake everyone is punished. You die once you'd be flamed.

Your botlane would need to die 5 times for Zed to have gold equal 1 kill of his own.

If toxic would increase by 100 times as you said, then games like HotS wouldn't be played at all.

In the end I just gave (my) idea how to fix that. What matters is: supports are really lame to play unless you enjoy playing as BDSM slave.

Have you ever played support like seriously it's called support. Your job is too support your teammates the reason people don't pick is its hard to carry. Again it would ruin the game you can't just win your lane. You have to deal with your allies feeding your laner. Your idea fixes nothing. It changes the game this will turn league of Legends basically into heroes of the storm.

I don't mind the support role. I'm actually rather good at it. Soraka was my first character pick in League. Shields with Janna, heals with Soraka, shields and polymorphs with Lulu, I can do it all. I do own all of them. I also own Sona. But she must be cursed or something. I think I can count on one hand the number of wins I've had while playing as her. Teams just don't win when I play as Sona.

My major dislike about playing the support role is that everything is my fault. If you dive in at level four and the enemy trounces you, I get the "u suck" flames. Even though it's very, very difficult to follow you in with Soraka's slow speed and low healing power at level four, it's my fault the player died. "u dont shield" they cry. Wards on cooldown? "no vision, u suck." I've even been called out for lack of DPS as a support. Go figure.

Support Main here....i disagree with all of that.

If that's what you think a support is, then you need to get your eyes checked. I can quite easily afford my items thanks to my gold income items.

Yeah and how much AP you have at the end of a game as AP support?

Also, you say like it's my fault that people dislike picking supports. This class is simply said boring.

Beldair1 votes

Over 600 AP.

And i never said it was your fault. It is just one of those things where ppl don't want to be the one helping the team but instead wants the glory of getting kills.

It's like how on most MMOs, ppl don't want to be the healer/cleric but instead want to be a rogue, fighter, mage because they do all the damage even though the cleric keeps them alive.
