How come Sivir's spellshield and Jax E block Illaoi W?

Weird how they can both negate Illaoi W

This, if true, is actually a REALLY good question.

If its a spell, sivir spell shield should block it.

If its an amplified auto attack, Jax should dodge it.

But it shouldn't be both. Nothing is both in the game.

What about Nasus Q? Is it blocked/dodged?

I would have to test, but I'm 90% sure that it is dodged but not blocked. Nasus Q (like Illaoi W) as a buff on next auto attack. Spell shields don't stop auto attacks. Dodges do.

From what I remember for Jax at least, it blocks the normal AA damage, but the additional Q damage is taken

A few patches ago (maybe even juggernaut update) this was changed so that jax could block the entirety of nasus Q. Same with pantheon shield, it now blocks the whole thing. Not that the change makes jax any good vs a nasus, but still.

Really? Well then, thank you for the correction. Does that go for other enhanced AA skills? I figure on hit effects don't apply because...well....they don't hit

It should be the case that the entire damage is blocked. But I would have to actually test to know for sure.

Another example is renekton's W is not completely ignored if dodge is in effect (so no damage or stun).

Interesting. Thank you very much for the info :)

spellshields block empowered auto attacks even if they aren't spells. which is bullshit. also jax E dodges auto attacks including empowered ones.

go ahead and try ezreal q and gp q on sivir spellshield. it will block it.

tho I do believe the aa damage will still apply.

Ezreal and GP's Q are spell with on hit effect. It's different than an empowered AA.

Well, ezreal q is a spell with on hit effects. GP q is a ranged auto attack that counts as melee (procs tiamat, can crit).

Ah okay. I don't play GP but I always assumed his Q was spell with on hit effect

I'm actually not sure about gp's q interaction with spell shields. I know it is dodged by Jax.

The problem, and why I actually like the OP's question which is getting downvoted for some reason, is that some of the rules about what abilities are what aren't very clear. Some clarity (and consistency) would be pretty awesome.

Yeah. Consistency is not something Riot is good at.

Even Hilary Clinton is more consistent than Riot.
