@Riot, Responce to Riot Velocity's discussion on Zed nerfs
"Hey all, just wanted to weigh in with some perspective on why we're making this specific change to Zed.
There has been a lot of great discussion in this thread, and I think a lot of great points were made. I'm not here to discount anything any of you had said, merely just to provide additional context for any seeking it.
The main purpose behind this proposed change to Zed is that traditionally he's been a character that is very frustrating to have to play around as an enemy. Give a Zed any amount of snowball within a game and he can take that an effectively and efficiently assassinate a member of your team in under a second while putting himself in a very low risk position at the same time due to the ult being immediately reactivateable. (I'm pretty sure I spelled that word wrong.)
We're looking to add some counterplay onto an otherwise very frustrating (in some cases) character, while leaving his core identity intact."

I don't think the problem with Zed is his snowballing, his snowballing is very strong but at the same time it can be stopped immediately unless he is ridiculously ahead.
-
Yes it's pretty accurate that he is a little too safe in terms of assassination but he also has to pick the right time to go in because he can't assassinate when a support is sticking to their carry
-
His core identity is being quick and unpredictable, he already has gotten a nerf on his W's mobility and with the nerf to his ults mobility it will weaken his core identity pretty hard. At the moment I feel like Zed already has a ton of counterplay, especially since both AP's and AD's can nullify his ultimate.

strange time to nerf Zed when we are in the tank meta, it's a bad idea to nerf champions in a meta that is unfavorable to them.
