Am I the one who thinks Morgana is a terrible mid laner?

I don't get how this champ was designed to be a mid laner. She is terrible against almost every match up. I find myself spamming W just to farm rather than doing damage to enemy in lane. Her ult is almost always a suicide mission, highly telegraphed and easy to flash/dash or just plain walk out of. Even LB tether is harder to get out of.

Am I missing something here? Because I thought she was designed as a Mid laner/ support? Because it feels more like she is just a support.

Morgana mid just got nerfed hard

My overall opinion of morgana has never been good

Overated champion by coaches because they jerk of on her blackshield niche while most of her abilites are unde avarage or overated

I don’t think a 2 second root and an AoE stun is underrated

I agree the Q is hard to land and the ult is terrible. The E is just about the only decent thing in there

If an average ability had 100 points this is how I would score morgana

Passive - 50 Q - 110 W- 40 E - 110 R - 80

In other words pathetic

Base stats 4/10 (450 range, slow auto animation low base stats)

Now her Q is extremly glorified by players. IT IS JUST A FKING ROOT Put it this way would you rather get hit by Charm, Death sentence, Pyke hook, Nami Q etc

Her e is glorified by coaches since ever, sheeps copy opinions.

Shes more of a stonewall to the enemy midlaner, with catch potential and anti all in later in the game.

Though it has to be said she can dish out the damage aslong as you don't max W first, I tend to put 2/3 points into it then max Q.

The design of morgana mid is very good for the concept of her abilities: long lasting root, ramping damage (the missing health part) on a spell that also has its CD lowed by 0.5 seconds for each tick of damage dealt on atleast 1 target, the infamous BlackShield that makes morgana so good against AP champs and especially the more CC based ones, and her R being able to stun as many as the entire enemy team for 2 seconds or longer does make it OP strategically. But in terms of actual numbers you can see that the abilities are pretty bad.

The reason Morg mid was very good for a while in the past was from a couple of things (to my understanding and interpretation)

The long root of Q gave her lots of safety because there was less mobility in the game, basically it was harder for the “traditional” midlaners and junglers to avoid morg’s Q
Her W let her push the wave faster than other midlaners, denying the enemy CS, stopping assassins from roaming and snowballing, and opens her up to make plays in bot and drag or in the enemy jungler when her jungler invades.
From what I remember and found out, AP midlaners were much more common than AD assassins/fighters, so Morgana’s black shield was very effective as a counter because it can invalidate the enemy mid’s main/only form of CC to prevent or escape a solo fight/ gank. And of course the magic damage shield helps morgana against AP champs that will also deal lots of magic damage with their CC.

I think what happened was that the league community shortly after her release (or should I say a pro player did a few times and people followed the bandwagon) found that she was better as a support because of the support nature of her kit that sprung from her original mid lane design. After seeing this I think Riot decided to patch and edit her more for the support role up until her rework happened, and these patches from riot further made morg a support rather than her original mid design..
