Daily reminder that Runeglaive only benefits Ezreal

Visigoth··89 votes·4,536 views

I just want Magus back. I don't care if Magus wasn't great in the first place, I want my god damn 20% CDR and actual decent amount of AP.

It's so dumb that literally only Ezreal is getting benefits from it and now IT'S GETTING NERFED ON PBE BECAUSE OF FUCKING EZREAL.

Punish junglers because Ezreal's a piece of shit abusing items that are bad on junglers. Seems fair.

Honestly, it even only benefits Diana mid. Diana jungle is an absolute joke.

Sammystorm4 votes

I would argue diana jungle is better then mid diana.

Profirix2 votes

I thought so at first, until I realized how damn squishy she is. She doesn't first or second clear fast enough for it to be viable. Any jungler who invades gets a free kill and she has TERRIBLE mana issues. Runeglaive's mana passive comes just a bit too late.

Sammystorm1 votes

depends shield helps her a lot. main thing is that her clear is super slow.

Anrui1 votes

Diana clears extremely fast and easily. She destroys camps so fast it's silly. Even early, she barely even needs a leash. She doesn't have mana issues either if you can manage her mana correctly. The only mana issues she has is in extended fights/sieges. Diana gets to this point where she can literally 2 shot the enemy ADC though if she can get onto them, which is rather easy. She's really good at diving the backline but at the same time she is prone to being focused down quickly.

Sammystorm1 votes

Probably haven't been clearing properly then. Not the first time that has happened to me.

Anrui1 votes

As jungle Diana, max shield first. It goes through camps like crazy, not to mention during ganks it is actually your primary damage source.

kile1472 votes

Her mana issues aren't that bad, I've played her a couple times and I only need second blue when I burned a lot of mana on ganks.

What are you on about? Her clears are fucking godly. You can finish your full clear at 3.45, less if you got a decent leash. It's just her lack of pressure, awkward build paths and awkward ganks that makes her weak at jungling.

everybody can use magus, but only hybrid champions can use runeglaive. how is that increasing jungling diversity?

Everybody can use magus (except zero AP ratio champs), but if they sucked at jungling naked, they still suck at jungling with magus.

Anyone who can autoattack in between spellcasts can use runeglaive (technically, even a zero AP ratio champ CAN, but probably shouldn't). If they also use mana, that's even better.

Sammystorm2 votes

Certain people used magus very effectively and others did really like getting it. It was really hit or miss.

FatesDefiler5 votes

runeglaive was good on anyone that could reliably and consistently proc sheen, which is a pretty long list of champs. i say was because i think after it's change it will be phased out by the other items (and junglers who use them). changing the AoE to only affect the jungle will remove too much of what made the power of the item tangible and the change to physical damage will remove it's unique application within the game. I'm sad it's going. the jungle item changes weren't very well thought out before being implemented.

"The last AP jungle item wasn't that great, so instead of asking people who play AP junglers what they would like to see as an item, we are going to make up some shit and hope it works". I mean, how hard would it be to get a few of the older jungle players like Saint and OddOne in a skype call and be like, "So guys, you've played everything in the jungle, from A to Z. What do you want to see as an AP jungle item?". I can tell you right now that it's going to involve mana regen, ap, possibly cooldown reduction, and a way of not getting you ass stomped by everything at levels 1-3. Simple formula, simple item, works.

Knight SoIaire 4 votes

ezreal isnt the problem here

the jungle itself is the reason that jungle items are so strong is because jungle demands it and many junglers would be unable to live without that heavy powerr infusion jungle items give

the reason that smite goes to lane is because jungle items are this strong ... whatever they give you they give you a lot and at a cheap cost ... so in the end its more profitable and makes you strongerr to get a smite and a runeglaive ... or a smite and a cinderhulk than other items you norrmaly build

nerf the jungle and tie its rewards to machete ... so laners dont benefit from the jungle clear while junglers dont need insane stat owerrload to be viable

I don't want Magus back. It staled the AP jungler champion pool to AP champions that only those who actually had mana to jungle could jungle, and only a few had the mana to jungle (or otherwise were resourceless, but still didn't jungle).

I don't want Runeglaive like it is now. It broadened the AP jungle champion pool to those that mana wasn't a restriction, but then narrowed it to those that could use a Sheen proc well, which were champions that were already good in the jungle, or could do without a jungle item.

We need a new AP jungle item that had stats closer to Magus (maybe not the same stats, but still similar) but have mana regeneration like Runeglaive gives, as we will never otherwise have a good AP jungle item for both item strength and AP jungle diversity.

Anyone who AA once every 3s basically will have their mana cost removed. I failed to see how it's bad.

Jungle Lux God1 votes

That was the good part about it. Having the mana cost removed is the reason why Runeglaive is so good, and why I love Runeglaive on live. It enabled so many champions to be playable in the jungle just by fixing mana costs as a problem.

It's just everything else that is bad about it. The poor stats and a passive that most champs didn't want were so much worse than the mana regeneration portion of the passive that people wrote it off. It fixed mana problems but created other problems in the jungle.

Chespin20133 votes

I just want to play Fiddlesticks again, how is it increasing diversity if your just gonna make the only mage jungle item completely worthless on him? All junglers should have equal rights to a jungle item that fits them. Why couldn't we have both runeglaive and magus what is bad about having more jungle items it means more diversity to the game. A term Riot has mentioned many times that's in their agenda to help. But apparently isn't seen as one from the community.

SH Azykan2 votes

why even build past the base machete upgrade? Just go Trailblazer/Stalkers into Zhonya's and skip the enchant like a lot of fiddles did before the change...

Jungle Lux God3 votes

To be honest, I'm not sure that we would see more diversity with both Runeglaive and Magus in the game because the AP jungle champion pool would be decided by which one is better.

Is Magus better? Then those that use Runeglaive aren't worth playing because Magus is better, even though a bunch of other champs might be good because Runeglaive fixes their mana problems.

Is Runeglaive better? Then those that run Magus won't be played with Magus, and would either run Runeglaive or just not run a jungle item at all, and we get to a situation like we have now with Magus, except that instead of being removed from the game, it's still in the game but might as well not be there anyways.

Even if Runeglaive and Magus were equally good, players would still play Magus because they know who is good with Magus but not who is good with Runeglaive, especially since AP junglers have never been viable on a grand scale the way AD junglers and tank junglers are. Players won't create the diversity that Runeglaive tried to promote because players won't try out the new item with junglers that could be viable but weren't with Magus.

Also, have you tried full tank jungle Fiddlesticks ? It's really fun, and is a good way to enjoy Fiddlesticks while the AP jungle item is bad for him.

manliestdino3 votes

It's nice on Evelynn, Diana and Nid jungle, but didn't really benefit other ap junglers. It's not that great.

HandheldBrandon3 votes

They need to just find a way to stop with Ezreal abusing all these items. He has been at the heart of so many jungle item abuse cases (except Cinderhulk) that its ridiculous. It isn't even just jungle items Either.

Zair Umbras2 votes

The heart of jungle item abuse? Lol..? What other item has he used? Elder Lizard? He wasn't even the only one abusing it then. Evelynn was an ungodly abuser of that item while build Ability Power! And even then, it didn't get nerfed, it just got changed to Physical Damage causes it... This is literally the first jungle item Ezreal has been able to 'abuse'.

Only other item he got nerfed/changed was Phage, but that nerf was only to other ranged champions who were also using it, making them a bit overly powerful as well, so.... yeeaah.

I'm pretty sure Akali got Gunblade nerfed a lot harder back in the day than Ezreal has ever gotten any item nerfed now. Runeglaive is being nerfed in the next patch because Scarizard is a fricken moron. He's the one who seems to want this change to go through as he's mentioned on his Twitter when he brought up the Ezreal Nerfs not lasting on the PBE.

Honestly? They're gutting this item because of Diana as well. Laning Dianas have been taking smite in solo-que and destroying with it as well, but you won't hear any QQ about that because she wasn't the one brought into LCS. Laning Fizz is also pretty damn broken with this item since it gives him a lot more base damage in his combo for cheaper early on when his damage isn't so great. It's higher base damage was just better overall for laners since it completely removed the early game issue with a cheap item that gave a huge boost, just like a Trinity Force does for an AD Ez or Corki, except cheaper and used on Assassins.

When it comes down to it, Sheen just isn't meant to be in the jungle. It needs to be strong for junglers to be able to use it for clearing, but if it's strong enough for them, it's strong enough for a laner as well. Throw new item item into the game that increases magic damage to monsters and returns mana based on the damage dealt to monsters, make it combine with the jungle smite and turn into the old magus with boosted magic damage verse jungle monsters and mana return based on damage dealt to monsters.

GoForkUrself1 votes

Ezreal caused nerfs to iceborn gauntlet, muramana, elder lizard, and runeglaive.

Zair Umbras1 votes

No he didn't. 0.o Muramana was never nerfed. It was nerfed for Ryze when it was changed to Physical damage, but that was a BUFF for Ezreal. It has received no changes since. Elder Lizard was abused also by Evelynn and Kayle who used huge amounts of magic DPS to keep the passive running. Runeglaive was nerfed because of Ez, Diana, and Fizz all becoming strong with this item as well as Evelynn in the jungle being too strong with it. There were many abuse cases that people never realized because they're too busy watching LCS and going 'OOOO, AP EZ IS ABUSING THIS ITEM AND EVERYONE IN SOLOQ IS COPYING IT'. Plenty of others abuse it to.

Only one Ez actually got nerfed was Iceborn, but it all honesty, it was a bit too powerful anyways. 15% CDR, large amount of armor, spell blade effect, high amount of mana... I mean, it was so much better than Frozen Heart on release and it's been changed around so it wouldn't be so powerful.

What? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Why would Ezreal warrant that hard of a nerf? It doesn't even remotely make him overpowered. Buying it on Ezreal means sacrificing your entire early game so that you can crowed clear like a normal mid laner. Something like a mejai or ludens rush would give you a much faster power spike except you will fall behind in cs so badly people will claim your shit even though you are 20/4/15

Sightless662 votes

Not really. You don't end up sacrificing that much early power. It helps address mana problems, you still get an early sheen for laning, and it gives you the ability to actually push other people in instead of just losing everything to tower. It then scales better than pretty much any item he could have just because of the magic damage conversion. It's not a sacrifice if it's the best option for him, and it really is.

It's legitimately overpowered. It's quickly become pick/ban in all the competitive scenes. A nerf to either him or the item is needed, and they chose the item. I'm not thrilled with the exact direction they took, but something does have to be done.

Chessburger2 votes

All you get in regards to mana is the flat mana the item itself provides... I'd like it if people stopped hinting the 8% missing mana works in lane because it doesn't. It's monster only and even then you'd need a bigger mana pool for it to be noticable if you Q raptors at low mana. It gives you something like a net worth of 30 mana back when Q'ing raptors at 1/8 mana left...

The only reason why this item has some strength in it is the magic damage conversion and a slight increase in waveclear. Lose the conversion to magic damage it's useless. Don't lose it, ap ez is still not even close to OP.

It's a pretty bad item anyway I'd prefer magus back.

change: melee can keep it range needs a nerf or just make it stack with jungle creeps so it cant be abused in lane as easily

AP Ezreal is cancer, can we gut it instead of Runeglaive?

The Loveless2 votes

The onhit is a joke and does no good damage. Ludens has better burst/scaling. Same with Lich Bane.

To make AP junglers work, they need defense. Either give Magus some kind of armor/damage reduction or add spell vamp -- maybe healing on monsters only, since 80 AP it just the amount of AP most mages want to take with them late game, and we don't want to adjust that "power budget" too much.

All Riot has to do is think of why certain mages would feel motivated to jungle. Tanks and basic attackers w/ spells as well are the ones who can clear faster, thus take less monster damage.

NommyPancake2 votes

Of course not! It benefits other champions too!!!
Such as... and... Never mind...

On the serious note though, they should make AP Jungle Item based on item 3174 or item 3165.
It's more universal than the Lich Bane based Jungle Item >.>
