Isn't shen supposed to be a Warden like Braum? Why people trying to take him top lane instead of support ;-;

Because before the damage nerfs made cause of worlds,he was actually good in a solo lane. Also, He always was a top laner as far as i know,before his rework he would've been considered a bully thanks to his Q manaless Harass+Heal+Damage thanks to his passive. I played a lot of shen,both top and supp,before the 6.15,then started to look for other champs knowing they would decrease his power for the "Pr0s",but if you find an AA enemy top laner,he is still a good choice,providing a 2nd support and more possible picks for the main supp,maybe a mage like Karma.

So,why trying him top lane? Cause it WAS his lane. not his role,he has always been a team supporting champ,but his lane.

Is that really it? His ult could be used to help him roam, like help out a top laner that's going to die soon or a midlaner that is gonna die from the last few ticks of ignite. (Supports roam too you know, like bard, soraka, etc.) And it can be used to get back to lane faster if your adc is in trouble. His taunt thing is pretty good against another autoattack based ADC so there's that also

no thats not really it shen was a strong split pusher and he was able to put pressure on 1 side of the map while the rest of his team when somewhere else to put pressure forcing enemies to make a decision put more resources into stopping shen which then his team would take advantage and take objectives else where on the map or they would choose to fight the rest of the your team where you would have them lose resources in the other lane and just Ult to the teamfight creating 0 loss in resource for your own team

tbh i thought your question was pretty dumb so i gave a snarky answer then i looked at your total wins and i could tell you were honest in your inquiry

The fact that he's a Warden doesn't have to mean that he is a Support.

You don't really see champions that have little to no attacking power go top lane, and Shen has enough utility to make him a pretty good support.

I'm saying this as an Ex-Shen Support Main and a Gold V who actually deserves Bronze 666 and knows his memes, Shen is much better in the Top Lane. He deals a cluck-ton of damage, his global presence is maximized when he's at a solo lane, and honestly he really is outmatched by some supports.

Then you ult top lane and suddenly your adc gets tower dove and lose tower

Warden? I'm not familiar with these sub-classifications, but I can tell you why Shen isn't taken bot lane anymore (I've been playing Shen for a while, level 6). He's not as good a support as he used to be. And even then, the Shen support would need a team comp to compliment his shortcomings. He's better off top lane because he's a relatively safe laner against most bruisers/tanks/fighters (he's meant to be a top laner anyway, just look at his kit). He can really hold his own in a solo lane because of his taunt threat under tower which also leaves the enemy overextended (if you're in a situation where you can't go super aggro, not like Shen can push a wave anyway), and his scaling is above average (tank-wise), despite him receiving a nerf recently (health regen, I believe). He becomes a monster engage tank mid-late game who can strike at least expected times with his ultimate and negate a LOT of potential damage with his shield and W. His map pressure is also above average which is why he's better top lane as he can keep his tower standing while still being able to help his team from across the map, turning around fights or solidifying a siege. Yes, Shen "can" support, but he's better top lane. His peeling ability is below average because if you must CC someone, you're pretty much all in. When you gotta peel, it's usually because you need to save yourself and your ADC from a bad situation and run away. He was a better support pre-rework because his Q healed people who hit the person you Q'd (which tremendously helped his support-laning. His engage and ultimate are good too. He lost the ability to heal which is why he's more of a niche pick to go support now-a-days because his laning is weaker, especially compared to other tank supports. Besides, supports don't get XP and gold and there are other tanks who do the same job Shen can do and do it a lot better (Leona, Alistar, Braum, Nautilus, Taric) with less gold. Gotta admit though, Shen support is still loads of fun :)

Same reason why people don't play Orianna support.

People do play her support though, every single ability she has except q is utility. Ever see a mf + ori support ult?

he was a good support before his rework because of his Q sustain for both you and your adc, Very strong base stats and lots of free poke ( no mana ) Now he has shitty base stats, No poke, No sustain beside his w but is on a very huge cooldown. Honestly, you could use him support before his nerf ( if you bring ignite and cought a good flash taunt and emporered Q, its pretty much a kill, now you just dont have the damage anymore cause of the huge nerf on his Q) but he isnt even viable top so dont bring him bot lane trust me. I am waiting for a buff ... soon My friends...Shen

I disagree. Shen Top is extraordinarily potent and strong. He has great utility and damage and can turn whole games around with a single ult. True he can't carry games but most top laners can't either. Bruiser Shen is really strong. Rush Sunfire and Visage then go for Titanic Hydra, Dead Man, Then the kicker is getting a BotrK or Wit's End. He becomes incredibly powerful with one of those items and can shred tanks and squishies a like. I've out traded a fed vayne with this build and killed her.

I am Gold 4 so you may be playing at higher Elo then me but Shen is a very strong pick in my humble opinion and can be game altering.
