The Major Blanance Problem WIth League of Legends

OlafRagnarson··4 votes·582 views

It's pretty simple.

Champions that have more mobility and CC don't really do that much less damage then other champions.

Champions that have a little more damage often have MUCH less CC.

Some champions get both, and they are OP.

I think when Riot designs champions, they undervalue tankiness and CC and mobility...and we get champs like Tahm who really hurt and also have tons of CC and Tankiness.

And now I await the fan boy trolls to rush to Riot's defense and downvote me.

The trend is concerning of things that are hugely unfun to play against. Tahm kench is unfun to play against. While Illaoi isn't op, her E is so frustrating it makes you want to pull your hair out. The fact that rework Fiora has continued in her current state for this long is... bewildering honestly.

Fiora is so OP. She was way too much CC, combined with damage and and ult that heals the shit out her.

Fiora has two short-duration, short-range slows, one of which is an on-hit and one of which has a delay attached. The delayed skillshot can be a conditional stun. Fiora has many problems, but 'way too much CC' is most certainly not one of them.

Its way to much when shes facing an auto attack based champion.

Why? The amount of CC someone has doesn't change with their opponent. In fact, Fifi probably has LESS CC against an auto-attack based champion, since they're unlikely to have the hard CC to give her her stun.

her parry hit is a 50% AS slow. It destroys AA champs to get hit by.

MisterHealYoGirl1 votes

Ah, okay. Thanks, although I still don't think that's much CC. It's very telegraphed.

DorkunedAuras1 votes

it is very telegraphed. The problem is how it can DESTROY a duel to get hit by. It's too much impact for the difficulty.

Umm, are you sure?

As of this post, the top 5 performing champions in all statistics recorded by champion.gg are Gangplank Shyvana Lux KogMaw Janna

3 of them are DPS centric champs, two of which utilize but aren't defined by their Tankiness, and one just a true DPS. Lux and Janna meanwhile, while having reasonable amounts of CC, only find their defense in their relatively minor shields.

OlafRagnarson2 votes

Shyvana is a champion that becomes very tanky and deals tons of damage still, and has great mobilty.

GP i don't understand because 9 out of 10 times when hes on my team he is awful.

Lux has an Ult with a CD so low she is guaranteed to have it in nearly every team fight...haha lux has reasonable amounts of CC? Double bind and AOE slow (that does damage with a huge area and range), is only reasonable?

Riot classically undervalues range, CC, mobility and overvalues tankiness.

Since when do they undervalue tankiness just because Tahm exists? How tanky people can get isn't broken, nor is anyone's kit, its simply that Tahm's shield can block up to 99.99% health that you're saying that when nobody else has that advantage.

Remember when Riot decided to give immobile, low CC champs more damage? Darius DrMundo Garen Mordekaiser MissFortune Shyvana Remember how much people complained about every single one of these champions?

Elindiir1 votes

Shyvanna is by NO means immobile... she has some of the best sticking power of any champion without the use of CC... Many assassins don't have enough disengage to escape her. Now when she has her item 3022 or item 3025 there is no escaping her without burning some serious CDs.

For a bruiser, Shyvana has some of the worst sticking power in League. Her only tool to reach and stick to enemies is a long jump that can be interrupted by anything and easily juked and a speedboost that requires her to keep autoing to last a decent amount of time. This makes her absurdly weak against slows and self peel abilities because if she uses her W to close, the enemy disengages and her W runs out before you can reach them again. Compared to the likes of Garen, Darius, and Mundo, her sticking power is garbage and all of those champs are known to be weak to kiting. Once you have 1 of those items, it does get easier but it's not like you can afford to get ether one very early in the game.

Ok, I have torn apart many a riven in my days of playing Shyvanna, and Riven probably has some of the best disengage/sticking power of any toplaner.

Shyvanna is NOT a shitty toplaner, she just doesn't get banned because she doesn't have BS tricks like executes (Garen/Darius/Zed), or so much innate tankiness that a champion can walk back to base from their enemy base (Mundo/Tahm), or invincibility mechanics (Tryndamere/Kindred/Kayle/Lissandra/Bard)

There's a reason Shyvana top has a 41% winrate in Plat+; because despite her damage, she can't force you to fight her basically ever. That, and she has no answer for all the ranged champs that plague top lane now and placing her top lane doesn't give her a chance to hard farm and get ahead since there's a limited amount of CS in the lane. The exception to this is summoner 11 summoner 12 Shyv top where you play as a pseudo second jungler, constantly shoving in the wave and then roaming into the enemy jungle to constantly steal camps. That's honestly the only reason to play Shyv top at this point, and playing her in the jungle is still preferable because Sated Devourer exists and there's more stuff for you to farm.

And yes, not having a BS trick makes you a shitty top laner because top lane is where all the most BS 1v1 champs go. If you can't compete with tradtional top laners, then you're a shitty top laner. And honestly, Shyv doesn't really have the tools needed to lane anymore, at least not the normal way. Hell, even Leona top has a higher winrate than Shyv top because at least Leona has CC and decent trading with her Q and W.

Elindiir1 votes

Shyvanna is generally a safe lane though... She can consistently farm while trading and by maintaining her W, you force people to either NOT farm, or to get battered while farming... She in general outsustains most of her lane opponents (even Mundo's ult) and as long as you keep the bush warded, you can always get out of messes.

Also, top Shyvanna with item 3068 magnifies her 'farm while fighting' and her 'damage while farming' making it harder for people to farm against her.

Slamurai Jack1 votes

The problem is, even if you get every single CS in top lane, it still doesn't make picking her top lane worth it because she just doesn't get far enough ahead to justify picking Shyvana. By comparison, jungle Shyvana has far more available gold and exp at her disposal to farm and get ahead with and she also has access to Sated Devourer which pushes her damage into the stratosphere. Sunfire Cape Top lane Shyvana may have been good back in the days when Randuins slowed everyone who ever autoed you and carries weren't nearly as mobile and tanky, but in a world where Kalista exists and adcs build like this:item 3139 item 3053 item 1306 item 3036 item 3031 item 3094 , doing decent damage while being really tanky just isn't good enough anymore. In order for Shyvana to be viable, you need to do tons of damage in a very short period of time, and that means Sated Devourer and that means playing her in the jungle. Cinderhulk Shyvana in the jungle has about the same winrate as Shyvana top which teams to suggest that Shyvana just doesn't really work anymore as a tank. Devourer Shyv jungle has a 54% winrate. Cinderhulk Shyv jungle and top lane Shyv have a 41% winrate. Clearly, the old way of playing her just doesn't work anymore at a competitive level.

When building as a tank, the idea isn't to get super ahead as an individual... The idea is to keep the lane opponent from getting ahead and being the team's tank, initiating teamfights, diving towers and forcing carries and assassins out of position. Also, Kalista's kit is horrible in a solo lane as 2 of her abilities are dependent on another person, and one of them specifically needs a tank.

Also, in my experience, people hate playing ADCs in general so getting one in top isn't THAT common compared to getting an assassin or bruiser.

PS: Just looked at Pantheon's winrate.... Shyvanna top eats Pantheon for breakfast... I've had games against Pantheon where he just gives up on farming because he can't do much to me...
