Ascension

i absolutely love the game mode ascension

and i don't think the gameplay needs any changes.. but i would like to see an update to the user interface

the game is based on reaching 200 points.. 3 for a relic, 1 for a kill 5 for being or killing the ascended, and 2 for kills while ascended now the game shows the total points for each team.. but it doesn't show how many points each player got now in the postgame screen you can see your points for each person

but i really think they should be visible in the game

if i remember correctly in the original ascension (back during the azir patch) you COULD see this.

now i have plays 11 ascension games (since rotating game mode)

and while i have not won every one of those games.. i HAVE come in first place on my team each time.

i REALLY hope ascension can become a permanent game mode

i love summoner's rift i like aram and i LOVE ascention

but i HATE twisted treeline and i HATE dominion

I love the game mode aswell, though i do think it needs a small change: the trinkets that port you onto the field should change into the Twisted treeline trinkets(with maybe less cd) after the port till you die. The map is nearly 40% brushes that have to be facechecked, favouring certain champs quite alot. With a bit more vison aviable, the map would be more balanced imo, especially if said vision also reveals ugly shrooms and boxes.

i agree that teemo and shako are op on this map and should probably be permabann

but i really dont have any issues with the bushes i find it fairly easy to see where the enemy team is...

if they are within vision of a relic or xerath you can see them,, if they have ascended you can permatly see them

you can see where they teleport to when they leave base

even with zero wards i find it fairly easy to keep track of enemy team members

i think the amount of bushes is good and what is more, i think the bush location are in a VERY good spot

Personally i hate the game mode. Not from a balance prospective, but just from an ideological one.

I've always hated how much mobility and burst has been creeping up in league of legends, and ascension is a game mode which rewards such champions even more than summoner's rift.

The champions who are just handed everything they need to win just about any 1v1 on a silver platter, with high mobility, tons of engagement control, and generally a moderate amount of CC, yet still have as much damage output in a head-to-head fight as the champions who lack this utility.

It's frustrating to see the game go this way, and even worse when a game mode which is suppose to be "silly fun" highlights this kind of gameplay even more. Though that's just my opinion on it, not saying ascension itself is bad, just that the state of the game it's in highlights the bad parts even more.

I find the champions that give vision and have traps break the map completely. A good Shaco can take an entire team apart by himself. Teemo players don't even have to be good to be a threat, but when they are there's almost nothing you can do.

Diana and Lux are pretty dumb to play against as well.

Score ranking was faulty in Dominion and is still faulty in Ascension. Since only the person who starts capping first or lands the last hit gets credit, score ranking discourages teamplay. If Alice is capping a relic while Bob zones off enemies, only Alice gets credit, despite Bob's efforts being vital to Alice being able to finish capping. Similar issue with tanking and teamfight clean-up.

Objective score is an interesting statistic, but don't confuse it as being an accurate representation of player contribution.

you bring up a valid point

but this isn't exactly ranked and it isn't perfect

but i still believe it to be a very accurate representation there may be a 5-15 range that may differ due to what you are describing

but what i normally see in my game on my team is

Myself: 60-85 points 2nd: 30-60 3rd: 20-40 4th and 5th: 5-35

it may not be perfect

but when almost always i'm 30+ ahead of the 3rd place and normally 40-55+ ahead of 4th or 5th place

i think its clear that although it may not be perfect.. its still pretty accurate out of every since ascension game i have placed since rotating game mode came out.. i have come first place on my team every single time.

In contrast, I very rarely saw point gaps that large. I'm regularly in 3rd-5th place by 15-30 points unless I was either getting a bunch of kills or ignoring/racing my team to cap relics. In other words, unless I'm actively trying to maximize my score, my contributions on paper noticeably lag behind my teammates, even though our actual contributions are often about equal. As such, I strongly disagree with score being a "very accurate representation." Maybe a rough representation at best, but it still only shows part of the picture.

well i play at a mid silver level and you play at low gold..

so i dont see how skill factor could be much of a difference

but maybe it is becuase i frequently get bronze teammates

becuase i'm certainly not "racing" my teammates to cap relics.. im frankly the only person even GOING for the relics on my team the majority of my games ... pretty much everyone else is playing like its a team deathmatch and not even giving a thought to capturing the relics.

SR rank reflects skill on SR, not skill on other maps/modes. There were a number of occasions in old Dominion tournaments where a team of Bronzes beat a team of Diamonds because, unlike the Diamonds, the Bronze players were Dominion veterans.

Moreover, in my case, I only play ranked SR up to Gold and SR normals only with friends. Long story short, I don't play at low-gold in Ascension.

I like the game mode because I can rock Azir and take home a nice K/D/A. S ranks all day. I to am always top point taker for my team. Not because of kills, because of taking crystals.

I like this game mode, don't get me wrong. Seeing peoples scores hows me the same things I see in Rifts and ARAMs, everyone ignoring objectives. Which is frustrating.

I gave up on playing for wins. I just play to outplay folks with birdman.
