Can we just Revert Skarner to Release?

Ahristocats··20 votes·958 views

why the fuck was this kit reworked 5 times?

passive: reduce cds by 0.5 sec, doubled against champions Q: does physical damage, next one does bonus magical damage and slows for 1 sec W: shield giving bonus ms and as E: i admit it was boring, doing damage and marking targets healing if you hit the marked targets R: same

why was he reworked so many times in the first place? Permaslow is NOT toxic, especially on old skarner's kit, Ashe can permaslow you from 600 range, skarner had to come in melee range, press Q once, and then AGAIN press Q, you had all the time to destroy his shield and remove his bonus ms additionally, if you removed the shield he wouldn't get bonus as anymore, making permaslowing impossible since he would need to hit a lot of time to reduce his Q cd since without cdr it was 3.5 sec cd

before the rework he got two buffs and two nerfs

V1.0.0.125 Crystal Slash Physical damage increased to 25 / 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 from 20 / 35 / 50 / 65 / 80 Magic damage increased to 24 / 36 / 48 / 60 / 72 from 20 / 32 / 44 / 56 / 68 Fracture Projectile speed increased to 1800 from 1600

V1.0.0.127 Stats Attack speed growth increased to 2.1% from 1.44 Energize REMOVED: Triggering on structures Crystal Slash Mana cost reduced to 15 at all ranks from 22 / 24 / 26 / 28 / 30 Fracture NEW EFFECT: If it kills the target Skarner is healed Impale Duration increased to 1.75 seconds from 1.5

V1.0.0.150 Crystalline Exoskeleton Cooldown increased to 18 seconds from 14 Impale REMOVED: Completing casting if targets gets out of range during such

V1.0.0.132 Crystal Slash Mana cost increased to 20 / 22 / 24 / 26 / 28 from 15 at all ranks Slow reduced to 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% from 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 Impale Cooldown increased to 130 / 120 / 110 seconds from 110 / 100 / 90

skarner permaslow is not fine, but Kalista Gnar Kennen with item 3022 is fine, Nunu Nasus with cdr is fine, Ashe is fine, Lissandra is fine

doesn't make a single sense

My question is who thought that his new passive was a good idea? Sure, it helps with his clear, but other than that, it's not much.

No one is stupid enough to walk into the circle and fight you.

I wish they just made one of his abilities spawn a spiral for a couple of seconds (Like trundle's zone) and make his passive involve movements and shielding. Basically swap his passive and w.

khorney1 votes

he cant solo very well on object.....old aatrox can take drag solo at lvl 2 so dont give me that bs reasoning riot....

khorney1 votes

lol it doesnt help with his clear...it made it worse due to the fact it only affects a small area.....his old q did exactly what his passive did before so there is 0 argument.

Tin Obliterates1 votes

Really? Didn't know about that

khorney1 votes

as i said i post about this and peopel downvote becuase they are dumb and didnt play the previous rework...yas q stacked attack speed upto what hsi passive is now meaning you split push boss beat down towers liek nothing. dont kill the cs while your tryign to beat towers down due to you need eneies to stack it. the ganks are the same before as they are now becuase before hit 3 things to stun vs now you need to hit e to stun..... so whats better ?

Ahristocats1 votes

we're talking about release skarner, he didn't have attack speed on Q

but anyway, any version of skarner was better than this

khorney1 votes

i know i mean any rework was better then this past one i hate hate hate it. its useless and he is a ult bot. i liked the release skarner being able to lane then i also liek the jungle one

Sujiren5 votes

Same with morde, he was reworked into some kind of juggernaut assasin bruiser mage hybrid duelist ???? Oh and he has a dragon. Honestly I don't think even riot knows what he is supposed to be anymore.

Ahristocats1 votes

let's be honest, we hated morde's rework because it was done by certainlyt, other morde mains also hated the rework because they don't want to play with other people

https://media.lolusercontent.com/api/embedly/1/image/resize?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.gyazo.com%2Fbe940d2e8c022d65a18c9fa9b7996fde.png&key=a45e967db0914c7fb472fd4381e6c85b&width=425

as someone who played morde in season 1 (before he was olafed) and in season 2 (before spellvamp was gutted) old morde wasn't healthy, his game was decided by the enemy jungler and by what the enemy laner picked new morde solo lane is the same, however it's less strong than before, and ADC morde is his strongest role while being healthy, he can be outplayed by not getting engaged on by his support which means if you outplay his support you outplay morde since he's reliant on his support

i'm an ADC morde onetrick right now, and i can tell he's better than before (not perfect which is why he needs a vgu)

but this isn't a morde thread, just a skarner thread

meh.

if i were to design skarner :

passive - basic attacks steal movement speed. increased movement speed increases attack speed by X%

Q - skarner strikes opponent with his tail injecting them with crystal venom stunning them for x seconds. stun scales up per point. deals little to no damage.

W - passively increases movement speed. actively can be used to create crystalized armor on skarner. passive is disabled while on cooldown.

E - Skarner extends both of his claws to swipe inwards slashing any opponents in front of him. if only a single target is hit by both claws skarner grapples onto them and darts backwards to single out his prey.

R - has charges that stack up to three-five times (think akali). using a charge strikes the opponents vitals with skarners tail and yanks them forward a little and deals DOT+slow.

this would allow skarner to clear camps decently and then still be useful for combat as a sort of assassin/support.

Legacy Hydralpha1 votes

Not a bad idea, really. You managed to keep the whole idea of grabbing a target and bringing them to their doom using his E instead of his ultimate. Would the passive stack?

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

it wouldnt matter if it did. there'd be a cap and you'd lose benefit from it if you got things like phage. both movement speed and attack speed have % bonus rations and soft/hard caps.

to answer your question though it would have to be tested before i can say either or. im thinking that it would extend the duration.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who knew how great release Skarner was. Back then his ratios were actually decent. Now he's forced into playing tanky.

Sorely wish they would revert but that would imply they're wrong about something. And Riot have wayyyyy too much pride for that to happen :P

Honestly, i don't even miss the permaslow on his Q alot, i rather miss the abillity to go ap or hybrid Skarner and play him toplane,** but mostly i'm annoyed by Riots double standarts, stateing Skarner's permaslow as major reason becuase it's unhealthy but buffing it on ashe and keeping both Rylais and FM with the potential for permaslow**. I'd rather see permaslow taken from that shit instead og getting it back to skarner. And I really miss the heal on E. I don't agree with old E beeing boring, the combination of that heal and his W made APish builts viable and fun as you got alot tankiness from ap, it also allowed him to toplane and atleast with AP-ish builts it rewarded you alot for landing E on multiple targets and then hitting them again, giving aditional skill expression in teamfights. It could have used some more work, but a skillshot that marks targets for a heal-proc imo was a great design bases with much potential, boosting survivabillity vs multiple targets without doing to much 1v1.

But to be honest, i actually think his current kit is quite nice aswell,** the only thing that fucks it up is that god awfull passive that drains so much power into a stupid gimick**(still hate the villain mechanic on garen for a similar reason, aswell as Morde's dragon ghost) Though I really still miss the proper scaleings to get AP-heavy builts viable, especially the suriviabillity that release skarner got from AP was awsome, i could bate people all the time turning around with 100hp bcause of a massive shield and a big healcomeing up again, people just didn't exoect that much survivabillity and the overall tankiness in extendet fights was imense.

Big Lincoln2 votes

You know, now that I actually look at it cuz it's been a while since I saw the original skarner

if riot really hated skarner spamming Q for permaslow why not make it some sort of short-range skillshot with a low cd like Sejuani W or Darius Q

the rest of his kit is perfectly fine, i think Q is a boring-ass spell anyway but if it was even a little missable then nobody could complain that he has no counterplay except for maybe super-immobile melees, who suck ass in league anyway hehe

Very Hard Engage1 votes

my only concern is the implications on lane skarner and not having a passive at all.

like what about taking him top as a bruiser who has a stun/shield or against a mobile assassin in the mid lane whom you have higher bases and targeted CC against. its not something you strive to do, but the counterpick is there.

hhaavviikk1 votes

because perma slow is bs

hitted1 votes

Azir with rylai's exists, Ashe exists too, also Lissandra and Sejuani as well! Why not give permaslow to a melee tank for once. Feel way more rewarding to play as and not so toxic to play against, unlike ashe...

Need Gold 4 Tent1 votes

sejuani doesn't have permaslow though, the new one anyway. old sejuani yes.

Ahristocats1 votes

they kinda had to remove it if they wanted to give her a lot of stuns

Need Gold 4 Tent1 votes

Not arguing there. Just saying, she does not have a permaslow (currently).

TricolorStar1 votes

Bring back Crystallizing Venom please

Shahamut1 votes

Personally, I like pre-juggernaut Skarner the best. Perma speed. Go there and change his passive proc from stun plus damage to stun plus heal and I'm good to go

khorney1 votes

bro im with you here....this rework is trash af and i mean really trash.....it does less damage then previous rework, clear times are slower, did i mention you give away your enemies position via your useless passive, cant split push, has no engage besides flash, he is a ult bot now only really used to peel for the adc..... trust me i write and write and write and nope people are dumb and the people that disagree didnt play the previous rework.....

ShadowParker1 votes

If they reverted I would totally pick him back up. I loved the old skarner and after this spire iteration it just doesn't feel good to play him.

Predatorator1 votes

i'd be fine even if they reverted to pre juggernaut, but max hp scaling on shield and ms buff on R should be kept

Xion The XIV1 votes

100% agree with this. Skarner is my favorite champion, but atm he is almost worthless unless until you get a trinity force if you go bruiser build. He is just as bad as Old Warwick needing to be lvl 6 to have super effective ganks. You can gank before 6, but his E is so damn slow it's easy to dodge unless point blank range. His entire clear depends on the totem to be active and if they are not on your side you are then forced to activate them which in turns tells the enemy where you are on the map. Want to make sure Skarner can no longer gank top at all early on? Take his blue/red depending on the side you are on totem and watch it on the minimap and then ward
