Why don't you look into the matchmaking system, rather than seeing ✓, ✓ every patch ?

I think most of us can agree that the team who has less autofilled players, usually wins the game. It's so annoying and makes you think you win purely based off of matchmaking system giving someone 1-2 autofills vs. no autofills. I also see youtubers and streamers saying this, so it's obvious to everyone. For example, you could look into making autofill only for specific roles that people play the least, like support. That would solve the adc main getting autofilled into jungle and losing the game, because he has no idea what he's doing. That's not fun for anyone. Downside is ofc, higher Q times, but I think people dodging 5 times before getting into a champ select where this time you got autofilled and then dodging and waiting for 5 mins and then q-ing up again... is not a time saver at all, anyway. Ofc, we'd rather wait longer in Q, but play a fair and balanced match, rather than losing the game in the first 10 mins.

2nd thing is the matchmaking. We're not strangers to playing a match, which you knew you lost if you just checked the divisions. For example, I once had a autofilled d5 top laner vs. a d1 top lane main. I don't have to tell you that we lost that match and that our top laner fed like shit. I don't see why is this allowed to happen, other than making us grind more and more and more. Also, while I was in d4 promos, I played against challengers... in what world does it make sense to play against challengers to reach d4 ? Then you have winning streaks = losing streaks. I had a winning streak of 7 games from p1 to d5 and guess what happened then ? 7 games losing streak. Then I had a 6 game win streak from d4 to d3, and guess what happened ? 6 games losing streak. Always the same thing. I played like that all the way to d2 and then I dropped all the way back to d5 0 LP. I couldn't understand what's going and why am I losing since I played the same and the same champs... but I saw a lot of people having the same problem.

Matchmaking system + autofill create such unbalanced and unfair games and it's time to switch things up. Either tweak the mmr system to create more fair and more balanced games, or tweak autofill so you get filled only into roles that people play the least.

For fuck's sake, please, not again...

"I also see youtubers and streamers saying this, so it's obvious to everyone."

Yeah, but no... Youtuber and Streamers are typically Diamond, or at least high Plat. They represent 10% of the player base at the very most. Their matchmaking is skewed, they have different issues than the rest of the player base, and what you see in videos is not representative of the match making that most of us have to deal with. I thought we had made this point clear during the DynQ sh*t storm.

So yeah, sorry about your bad match-making, poor little diamond guy, but you're like in the top 2% of all players. Glory comes with some burdens, deal with it.

id very much rather not deal with it and you can fuck off with your "we should design the game around bad players hehe xd"

Auto Fill was designed for the top, then shoved down to the masses. If you think the game should be designed around the good players, then you must looooove Auto Fill.

We should design a game that appeal to the majority of its players. Simply because if the majority of players don't enjoy the game, they just leave, and the game dies. Very straightforward.

Also, calling 90% of people "bad" isn't really honest. If you're in the 10-30% best people in any other contest, you're considered quite good. But people in Gold don't have any problem with Auto-Fill.

And finally, Riot decided to leave Auto-fill permanently on for some reason, but it's actually not really necessary at most MMR. But it IS necessary at Diamond+ levels. It was originally designed for Diamond+ people, because they had queue times of over 20 minutes, upward to 40-50 minutes. Don't take my word for it, there are plenty of Youtubers bitching about it on videos, since as I said, they are a very biased sample of the player base.

So you want a game designed around good players? It IS Auto-fill. Deal with it.

What they really need to do is get rid of MMR and go entirely off of your KDA ratio for match making.

Also, I've done a bit of experimenting, and have noticed more often than not you get autofilled into roles you play more often if you queue OFF of your main role/s, but good luck if you get autofilled when you HAVE picked your main role because odds are you just got shunted the one place no one wanted to go on your team. Oddly, lately that has been ADC more than support with the recent boosts to supports with Rakan and Xayah being nuts and the tank updates turning half of the tanks into supports - Mao, Sion, Trundle, etc. - except for the 5% of the time they can actually counter the enemy pick.

KDR doesn't necessarily work because it would shaft supports and tanks that tend to die more often to protect carry roles. Having a few deaths doesn't necessarily mean the player didn't make the right choices in-game. It would also mean that whoever didn't get a counter pick gets punished really hard for having to play a bad lane. I'm not saying a million deaths are acceptable, but things like that would really skew the picture of whether a player is actually good or not.

For the past 20 games, I have been queueing purely as Fill. I have played 9 games as Support, 6 as Jungle, and 5 as Top. ADC hasn't even come up.

Also, "Sion got turned into a support" is untrue - his support play rate compared to his top hasn't changed. Can't really speak for the other two, but I really doubt that's the case for Trundle, either.

If KDA were the sole means of determining rank, I'd probably be challenger. I always, always have an exceptional KDA in matches.

What I don't have is the best shotcalling, the best rotations, or the best mechanics in teamfights. Which is why I'm silver.

I mean, if you think I'm literally the next Faker, I'm flattered. But I can assure you that's not the case. KDA is a terrible metric for determining overall performance.

I have no problem with autofill as long as the number of auto filled players is the same on both teams.

When there aren't the game tends to go to hell.

Don't forget "Unranked to Challenger" streamer smurfs. Every time one of those stomps through Plat/Diamond, it messes with matchmaking until they get back to Master/Challenger MMR.

Also they're hogging all the good spots in Masters/Challenger. Not that I have any hope of taking one of those spots anyways. It just doesn't seem fair that Challenger is supposed to be the top 200 players, but there's probably only 150 players in Challenger, with 50 spots taken by smurfs.

Unless they actually keep going on those smurfs I believe they decay pretty fast anyway

BarbaJhini1 votes

after 10 days of not playing they lose 100 lp per day

Leonerdo1 votes

If they are Challenger, then they must play everyday anyways to keep their skills up. They can spare 1 game (per smurf) every few days to avoid decay.

I'm sure this has come up before but after getting dumped into support, dodging and then getting hit with the 15 min queue dodge timer, I have come to hate autofill with a passion. I can agree with the OP a bit on the matchmaking but more importantly GIVE US THE OPTION TO TURN OFF AUTOFILL! I will GLADLY wait longer in queue if necessary in order to get a position I want and actually am not horrible at.

Back when I played ranked I carried my way up to Gold 3 or so at best and after jumping back into the game(only been playing normals) I'm thinking that my current elo(is that even still used?) is somewhere in between Wood and Plastic division, maybe Rubber.

I have pretty much no idea how to jungle as I used to be a decent jungler a couple of years ago, but have no idea what the best routes are with all the changes they made. Unless I'm with a friend I hate hate hate haaaaaattttee support. I'm also not a fan of ADC, as I prefer playing tankier juggernaut type champions. With the right choices I can play those at top and mid. So when I put in Top and Mid, I should be placed at Top or Mid. NOT support, NOT jungle, NOT Bot. I will wait longer to get that top and mid spot. I will NOT play those other positions, at least not now. You don't take a football lineman and suddenly throw him into the quarterback role, nor do you suddenly assign a catcher on a baseball team as a pitcher. DONT DUMP PLAYERS INTO ROLES THEY DONT WANT TO PLAY!

I'm sorry if I come off as an asshole, but this infuriates me to no end. If other people are fine with autofill and like filling, then great for them. If you want people to autofill, then give those who autofill an extra bonus, like more IP or even very small amounts of RP. But do NOT force people to autofill. I will dodge every time, and I will wait until the last second to do so, which is still better than what I've seen a few people do by being complete assholes in chat, making troll picks, threatening to feed, and even on one or two occasions actually following through on the inting.

If people want to autofill that's great. GIVE THE REST OF US THE OPTION TO TURN IT OFF! WE WILL GLADLY WAIT LONGER TO GET THE ROLES WE ACTUALLY WANT TO PLAY!

Sorry for my assholery, but I really had to get that rant out.

Edit : Just tried to get in a game for the third time this night. Autofill dumped me into support again. Now I remember why I stopped playing for a year. Maybe tomorrow it will take a break from screwing me over.
