The problem item in ADCs.
So as an ADC player I've been having a rough time in this meta. How could I be doing bad you ask, ready to flame me? Simple. I don't like Shiv. I mostly play Ashe and Sivir, both of whom are utility focused marksmen and as such I get other items like Runaans and ER. I also personally just never really liked Shiv for some reason and can now explain why. It breaks the mold. ADC is meant to be DPS. But Shiv gives you burst, and a lot of it. And here is where the problem comes in. IE crits Shiv, that's probably 600 damage or so, maybe more on levels I'm not sure. RFC makes it up more often. Shiv itself not only gives wave clear, but it gives a lot if burst damage. And that's the issue. What does Vayne get to one shot you with Q? IE and Shiv. What did Cait get to poke you for half your HP? IE, Shiv, and RFC. What does Tristana do to melt your team? Bomb the center target and pop IE Shiv. Statik gives too much for what it is. It's a high damage burst item that comes up often and chunks people. Compare that to say Gunblade active, which is a single target slow with damage, not as much damage I might add. Not even when you go full AP since it can't hit multiple people and therefore is limited. If I don't get Statik I do worse, if I get it I do better. Statik is the item that breaks ADCs itemization. Sure they have other issues, but I think Statik is the one causing the most problems right now. I would either change it to AD so ADCs don't have so much mixed damage, or remove it's ability to crit and just make it scale a bit better because honestly it's busted. It's passive alone is stuffed with power, saying nothing about its actual stats which I think are fine. The passive needs some kind of changes. RFC was never as viable, and if it was popular it was only to buff Shiv. The two items should be a choice, not a BOGO deal. Maybe making it like Hydra? Get one lose the other? They could buff RFC by making the buff last for say 1.5 or 2 seconds of boosted range rather than one hit? That way you can choose between bursts of damage or enhanced range for a short time.
