Except that's not what his argument was. A better analogy would be;

Professors are more intelligent and world-wise than children. Therefore, when children try to demand a major change to something of which they have absolutely no knowledge of .... their opinion should be dismissed in favor of the professors who actually do have knowledge and experience with the field in question.

That's not how you phrased it. A direct translation to my original analogy would be:

No mention of any other argument. Also, the way you wrote the original post, the professor would most likely respond more like "No. You know nothing and are just 7 year old stuck in childhood". Not the best thing to say when you are trying to teach a child to be mature or learn what is right.

Yeah, no, but actually, could you elaborate on that? Because sure "Diamond are better than Bronze", of course they are. But I'm pretty sure that someone who's interested in game design, game theory and all, but that doesn't bother try-harding to climb the ladder would be as knwoledgeable and a member of the forum community as valuable as a mechanics-god who just spammed a snowballing hard-carry in soloQ and managed to reach 2 divisions higher than the first one.

Well, I've been in bronze, been in silver, and been in gold. While I've never been in plat or diamond, I've played against people who were currently in that ELO -- and I held my own, other than a top Vayne into my Gnar (can we fucking nerf her, please?). Hell, when I first started, I went against a plat Azir (didn't know at the time) who had 3k+ games and actually won lane and had a pretty good KDA. After the game, one of my teammates asked if I was a smurf, and explained that the Azir was super experienced and all that.

And, I've spectated diamond games and challenger games... you know what differences I see? Very few. People play their champs a bit better, but still do the same, stupid things. Die to the same things. Win with CC spam. All that. So, sure, there may be a slight mechanical difference, but, ultimately, it's more of the same. Your ELO is largely based on your luck in matchmaking and your teamcomp -- being good actually doesn't mean much.

You know why that is? their opponents are other diamonds/challengers.

Put those people against you or other bronze/silver/gold...and the B/S/G would get utterly stomped 10 times out of 10.

If I beat a diamond Riven who has several hundred games on Riven... I think I know how they got there. Thing is, diamond players just aren't all that much better. They just know how to exploit what Riot fucked up a bit better.

Wrong, they use game knowledge instead of mechanics. I played games against diamonds that lost lanes, they had exceptional objective control, map pressure and awareness. They pushed 3 lanes at once without extending a single moment, forcing us to clear waves while they were taking dragon and baron. We could just watch as they manipulated the game flow.

They are that much better.

Lol. I play regularly with a challenger and I'm a gold whos been told I can probly reach mid plat if I tried.

And I will admit he ABSOLUTLY DESTROYS ME. In game knowledge. In mechanics. In champ select. In builds.

In literally every aspect of the game.

I've seen him pull off such amazing plays that it isn't even funny.

And the kicker is he manages to do it almost every single game I play with him.

Oh I also play with bronzies alot to because alot of my freinds are bot.

He's even beat 5 bronzies in a 2v5 custom game and he wasn't even playing his main.

Yes. It's true that those in diamond are much, much better than me, seeing as i'm in bronze. That's obvious. However, it doesn't mean that people in diamond can treat me like dirt just because they are better at a computer-game than me.
