Just pointing out a few things.

1, champion.gg is unreliable and has been proven to be so. 2, if the sample size was only like around 10 games, sites normally wouldn't show it, but it'd still technically be like ~90% winrate if you won around 9. 3, yes, 93.85% winrate/99% banrate would still be incredibly problematic.

LyingOnLine7 votes

And yet whenever you bring up champ.gg being unreliable, it's meaningless due to the fact that every stats site shows similar results about Ahri.

MissingKayo3 votes

I think you missed the point of what I'm saying. champion.gg usually ends up having different statistics, and sometimes even severely different, which is why it's unreliable, because the pooling source is different and flawed supposedly. So why not just quote a more trustworthy site then?

LyingOnLine4 votes

Tell you what. Show me three examples of champ.gg having egregiously different win/playrate statistics from other sites, and maybe I'll agree with you.

MissingKayo2 votes

Yes let me just magically get screenshots of champion.gg from months to years ago. Good idea.

LyingOnLine3 votes

If it's not wrong now, why shouldn't it be trusted?

MissingKayo1 votes

Because there's almost always things wrong with it? It's been improving since champion.gg actually listened to feedback and started updating quicker.

Aurelion Jungle (League of Graphs: 52%, Champion.GG: 55%) for example, since you're that desperate to whine and downvote while not checking anything you say.

MrHaZeYo4 votes

It's photoshopped.

MissingKayo3 votes

Duh? I thought that was obvious lol

MrHaZeYo6 votes

Then why did you go on about Champ.gg lol.

MissingKayo3 votes

Because photoshopping champion.gg wouldn't matter because no one smart trusts it with anything anyways.

MrHaZeYo3 votes

Well I mean, it's obviously photoshopped, did it warrent a post anyway? With those numbers he obviously doesn't care and just wants to bitch.

MrHaZeYo6 votes

She hasn't been dominant since release, she wasn't very strong in S4.

MrHaZeYo6 votes

I like how I'm downvoted, yall musta not played in S4 when she wasn't even a A-Tier Mid.

Eedat9 votes

Or you're getting downvoted because you're making up bullshit.

Where am I looking for Season 4? Cause I clearly remember Season 4 and she was awful in comparison to the top tier mid laners.

Eedat9 votes

52% winrate with 10%-15% pick rate

wasn't even A-tier Mid

Lolk

MrHaZeYo3 votes

In July of 2014, Which was Season 4, she had less the 50% winrate and around 7% pickrate. Using the website you gave me.

Lauchmelder7 votes

For a massive 1-3 patches.

Wooow

MrHaZeYo2 votes

Except it only shows from July 14, she was in that bad of shape from the start of Season 4 when her kit got changed from her dominance of Season 3. She spent the 1st half of Season 4 in that awful state.

SlaktarTasken1 votes

Ooo Ahri so bad had negative winrate 3 seasons ago, that's why it's ok that she's been a pocket pick for Pro players pretty much ever since then and rarely dipped beneath the 53% winrate. Boohoohoooo.

Nobody is saying she isn't too strong right now, we are saying that if someone makes a statement with empirical proof against the statement, they should be called on it. But the Ahri haters are just as bad as the Ahri mains for not looking at actual facts and downvoting anyone who disagrees with them. Shouldn't you be repressing free speech at Berkeley or something?

MrHaZeYo1 votes

The point is that he stated she has been dominate since release, I using a dude who down voted me link of a website, proved my point that she once did have a bad era.

I'm not saying she's not strong now, but a lot of that in its own right is more due to everyone else getting nerfed over the years.

Ahri's last major pro play was after the MS buff to her Orb, she got that nerfed and since has been used sporadically. (Prior to now, and even now she doesn't get 100% pick/ban)

We don't complain about Orianna, who has been a strong, if not stronger pick in pro play for years.

How about Ezreal? He seems to stay at the top of the tier list, A Tier at the worst, year in and out yet we don't spam posts about him.

The fact of the matter is, Champs get buffed and nerfed, patch in and out, but we continue to cycle through them each year, or even season quarter marks.

Grymmstrike1 votes

That site shows she was way below 50% winrate up to mid-season during S4. Was there a buff or change at mid-season? Dunno, but MrHaZeYo was CLEARLY correct in his statement at least during the first half of S4. Maybe he only played Ahri during the spring split and it was so bad he didn't pick her back up?

MrHaZeYo1 votes

I've played Ahri a crap ton since I started at the beginning of S3, If champ mastery started when I started I'd prolly be close to a mil on her.

That being said, that spike you see was a buff to her Orb, .5 AP Ratio addition both ways (so .10 if you hit both, raising it from .60 AP scaling to .70 AP scaling both ways combined) and a mana buff to her Q.

Most people didn't like her during her Season 4 kiss of death kit, it essentially meant if you hit the charm, they died, if you missed you didn't do much damage.

The reason I remember this is cause I played her a lot, specially back then, When DFG was removed, they removed her kiss of death and added the MS on the Orb, plus buffed her Charms base and AP ratio to compensate.

A lot of the reason people complain about her. now more so then before is because the semi bad match ups she had, have been nerfed (LB/Zed/Syndra for example), she's maintained a good win rate, but that's imo is more so because she is a skill match up champ, with a lot of safety, and the people who play her are the people who for the most part have played her a lot, she's a popular champion with a big fan base.

If they want to fix Ahri without breaking her, they should just remove the MS on her Orb and add the Damage Amp to her Charm, while reducing the Charm's damage. Essentially putting her back in Season 4 status, but now that other champs are on a similar level as she would of been back then, she should even back out.

But I'll prolly get downvoted for this soooo.

I'd just like to point out to keep an eye on Banrate. The only time it's peaked is after she got reworked, and promptly nerfed, and is only now showing signs of it raising again, after nerfs to Leblanc, one of Ahri's biggest counters. She may have been strong, but I wouldn't say Dominant to the point of frustration.

Handy Sandy 3 votes

S4 is practically a different game than now, who cares how champions were strong then. We're talking about now in season 7. S4 doesn't matter at all atm.

MrHaZeYo2 votes

I was responded how he said she had been dominant since release.

She had S4 where she wasn't good. I get that has no correlation to now.

ExcusemeFellows3 votes

I swear there isn't any good discussion about gameplay balance on these boards anymore, it's all about the rates....

Stats are meaningless unless you can understand why they are what they are.

Kukan Seishin3 votes

Fun fact, Ahri is not getting nerfed cause she doesn't need it

Incoming insert champ name here mains to downvote me.

Rákãñ2 votes

That kinda of logic yeah, I'd agree to a nerf so she becomes playable again. I want to at least play my main champ at least when I do get mid lane role or what not.

But really, its complete over-exaggerated, but no means she is not even that good in terms of reliability to solo carry games to well to get those numbers with her current situation. At most, she won't feed and help out. If she is the only person doing well as the only carry of the team, it's not an easy job compared to other carry champions who can easily out-scale and carry more efficiently than she can.

ok

if it isnt easy or reliable, why do a huge amount of players with varied experience get consistent and easy results

like what do you think these numbers represent

Rákãñ1 votes

Its usually varies on the other teams skill and mindset. Like how often do you get people complaining about cc and don't build item 3140 or item 3111. If you only dying because you getting hit by her charm, A good QSS active will save your life at times and secure kills as people take that as an initiation to hop in where the cc as if it was missed. I see threads on it too with people complaining about her CC and they didn't build these items when I looked into their match history.

You can check the matches where Ahri tends to do well is because of the player's skills playing them and how people play against her. Its kinda the same level when people don't buy MR or Sweepers when there is an enemy Teemo on the other team. Now if you look into the games that when people know how to counter build while keeping up their damage is important.

Also speaking of, even supports can even help counter Ahri's charm with item 3222 and helps the support to take less damage from her with the 40 MR on it too. With a bonus effect of extra movement speed to help kite the return effect of her Q and re-position better.

What I think the number is mostly because of her safety net while being able to take down squishes. Though, the job becomes so much easier if Ahri has a 2nd carry with her that is more well enough to secure objectives better. The main downside to Ahri is the ability to secure and take objectives efficiently in the mid game where she is the most viable at. So you really need your other members of your team competent enough to help take them. Also noting another thing that she can fit well with plenty of team comps without being useless, which allow her to have a better win-rate than others that have smaller viability pool in certain team comps. As in more of that Ahri doesn't need as much assistance from her team such as peel as her abilities are quick and without much interruption in movement. And she can provide peel for her carries if needed with her charm.

TL:DR - She doesn't require much from her team to be viable other than someone that is better at taking objectives better and she has the ability to assist her team for a better win-rate. But in term of terms of op, You could say her ability at being self-efficient at playing her role for the team is strong.

im telling you, its not the champ, its conditional based on whether or not she gets early roams off and gets ahead.

shes just excellent at snowballing when shes DOES get the AP to q the wave and kill the back liners. thats it, thats the only thing which makes her outstanding. if she doesn't ever get ahead of the curve, shes underwhelming in relation to everyone else, including veigar.

and i can assure you, she plays like an assassin looking to get the lead, shes not a passive farmer like cassio waiting for you to slip up or wait for team fights/ganks.

at the moment, ahri serves as an important climb tool to just climb in mid lane with, but she also has to play better than her opponent does, shes not getting the lead just because shes ahri, shes actively working for it and she just has all the tools to succeed while being a flex pick. its not like shes rewarded just for being ahri.

there are tons of situations where im 0/0/0 on ahri, and feel absolutely worthless outside of charm bot, even with good farm, all because im not ahead.

Linna Excel1 votes

Yes. Ahri isn't bursty enough on her own so she does kind of need to get at least a little fed to be relevant. Getting ahead in lane lets her carry, but getting ahead in lane is where the skill lies.

Linna Excel1 votes

Ban rate is so high you'd never be able to play her. So your thread fails in credibility in that her fans want to be able to play with her.
