What do people accomplish by camping in norms other then ruining the game for the other player

So i got the dawnbringer riven skin....cool i guess....except im never gonna use it because riven literally gets camped to oblivion even in norms....like wtf, what do you accomplish by camping a player? other then to ruin the game for them....like i play norms to have fun but when im 0/4 and i cant even go to my lane because im gonna get killed under tower again....like have people really degraded to "I cant have fun unless im absolutely crushing my opponent into dust"? Like i just wanted to try out the skin and i couldnt because the jungler was just waiting for me to return to tower Edit: All this post was asking was why do people have to be assholes to others just to enjoy the game....but it seems that has failed, so im done with this

if you want a solution, there is two of them.

  1. get better at riven, you can use those camping ganks to your advantage and get double kills under tower pretty easily.
  2. Play bots.

a sidenote about the first step. Riven excels at being ganged up on, her shields, stun, knockup, two executes, 4 dashes and whatever summoner you take is more than enough to kill someone under tower. So "Get good" actually applies here. I recommend watching box box on twitch/youtube, his Riven is Insane. Also, if the enemy jungler is camping you top lane, then he has NO idea how this meta works because support/ADC's decide who wins this patch. With him LIVING top with you, he isnt pressuring the rest of the map, so dragons open, mid and bot side ganks are free, his blue/red jungle is free. In all honesty its not a matter of "This is bullshit im getting camped" You need to think of it as "Im keeping TWO people busy, my teams fighting a 4 v 3 because of me."

If i was playing a champ i was experienced on i can easily deal with the camps, because i know i will get back into the game, but when i literally have ekko waiting to drop his stun on me the second i get to tower along with a follow up stun from the top laner, not much i can do I play norms to try to practice champs but when ekko has a 2 second stun.... Also, i sooner pull my eyeballs out then watch someone like box box

I get how you feel but you gotta think that most likely no one on the enemy team wants to see riven fed. She excels early and mid and can take an early lead straight to the enemy nexus. You shut her down early and she never recovers and the enemy saw that as their win condition. You gotta be willing to take that pressure if you're going to play a carry like that in a solo lane.

^ that.

you don't have to carry the game, you only have to win the game. If the jungler is camping you the rest of your team has free reign.

I suggest you start warding early and ping where the jungler is every time they are up in your top lane. "Jungler is top again you can push" "Jungler top" ping dragon

See, i play norms to try to have fun and just play the game casually, if i play ranked its an entirely different mindset, but its not fun when a champ with a 2 second stun is lurking the brush of my lane all game....(i rather have fun losing a norm, then not have fun winning a norm)

Hey look! A Riven, a snowbally early game powerhouse that is known to have tilty players. What to do?

a): Ignore lane, lose to a 14/2/5 riven by 17 minutes b): Camp the crap out of her and win an easy 4v5 because they ragequit c): Construct more pylons

I was 0/4 and 3 levels behind, but they were still camping

Ip is literally useless after a certain point, i should know im nearly at 500k with nothing to spend it on

Theres playing the game and then theres ensuring that the other team cant, if your gonna play like that in norms, your actually a scumbag believe it or not, if you wanna camp someone out do it in ranked where they are actually playing at their proper skill level (not that anyone wants to because a majority of people suck), sitting there as ekko jungle and camping me out from tower in a NORMAL game, when im already 0/4 is just being a dick at that point (they lost because they just wanted to be a scumbag to me)

Theres literally no written difference between ranked and norms besides the fact that one allows you to climb a ladder and prove youre better than others. Normal game is just that, its the game unranked. It means you'll gain IP and such, but other than that theres no difference.

This difference you're putting on it is you projecting your feelings onto it. You feel the game mode is for casual play, others use it to see how good they can do without the fear of losing LP. You are just mad that you're bad at the game and you're trying to admonish people for playing the game well. Theyre not ensuring you can't play the game they're gaining momentum towards their victory. To ask them to give you any reprieve would be breaking the summoners code, a contract that they signed when they made their account.

Some people take it lightly, others don't. This is a cometitive game, you can play it casually, but you cannot tell people how to play. I'll be remembering your name so if I ever see you in a normal match, which I mostly play, I will camp the titshit out of you. And I'm going to love it.

lol k....im actually pretty decent...i just dont play riven, i was playing at a disadvantage and being camped, they were not playing to win, they were camping me because they hate riven, THEY LOST THE GAME FOR THEIR TEAM JUST TO ENSURE I WAS BEHIND, this is not to "to gain momentum towards their victory" this was them literally going out of their way to be a dick because trist was snowballing bot, and he still proceeded to camp my lane, so before you come here and be a dick, please have some respect, and have fun, if you do somehow get into my game and camp when im playing someone i understand i will 2v1 you and your top :)

If you are pushed all the way to tower in lane phase, you might have some lanephase to work on to add to your plan to improve on Riven. Keep the lane pulled back from river, and you wont get ganked as easily. push to the tower only when you see jg in another lane, then B and Buy. You'll return to minions under your tower, but you wont get ganked there.

Also, if I'm ever camped in lane - I just extra ward and /allchat the jg about how he sucks at ganking cuz I can see him. get him tilted enough to dive me (as riven, this is golden) or to gank other lanes just to show me he's good. lol

I was pushed into tower all game, all that would happen is i would get to tower and ekko would drop stun zone on me follwed by camille E

So, you aren't really getting "camped" it sounds like - you are putting yourself in an "ultra-gankable" position. (same thing i guess)

But you need to learn as a player, that if you push to tower, they are gonna win if you under it. so... stop going into tower. lol learn how to control your minions, and thus the lane position. that ekko prolly just farmed up, waited for you to get under his tower, and when enemy jg was near, pinged for gank. the fact that you were in the gankable position, is your fault. if the enemy jg didn't take advantage of it to get fed, he'd be a bad jg.

I recommend learning to jg - and learning when the lanes are primed for a gank. that way when you are in a lane, you can see what you are doing to make yourself gankable.

Play more safe, learn to ward more, get better at your champion, pick a better champion (I suggest JarvanIV ), learn to farm under tower and not overextend(see play more safe). All of these are options to solve your issue and if they can tower dive you with two people in most cases you already lost lane especially on a champion like riven who punishes tower dives incredibly well. I'm a top lane main at your elo and all of these things will help you deal with this issue.

sigh you ppl piss me off, you dont even read and you assume im just bad, i main top and jng, when im playing someone i normally play im fine, but i wanted to try out the skin that i just got (since that skin wasnt on j4 i didnt play him) i just dont understand what the point of camping someone in a norm is other then to make the game less enjoyable for that person

People camp to win? The way to win against good late game champions is to shut them down early so they can't eat your team as much later. That isn't a problem unique to Riven. That's the go to strategy for winning against a lot of champions in every lane imaginable. If you see Xerath as a support, or Twitch, Jinx, then yeah, they're all probably going to be camped to stop them from getting their full item builds for as long as possible.

The time to stop your team from getting snowballed is early, before you have problems with Jinx, orLeeSin, or whatever erasing members of your team in half a second. The easiest way to do that is to take them out of the game for as long as possible so they can't get the gold to become serious threats until much later, when the entire team will have most of their builds complete and can deal with them.

the point is to attempt to win the game by shutting down that laner and removing them as a factor for the rest of the game the jungler doesn't give a fuck if you are or aren't having fun. How can you be a jungle main and not understand the point of camping a lane is to win the game. Even if its a norm people still want to win how do you come to the conclusion that it's because they want you to not enjoy the game before you come to the conclusion that they're attempting to win, and as a side note riven players have a reputation for going on tilt throughout the community and when i jungle i camp the shit outta them for that exact reason.

they get those sweet Riven tears. Same goes for Yasuo

If you get camped it puts the responsibility on your teammates to carry. And if your teammates are bad, camping actually works. In norms and ELO hell, teammates are typically bad, so if you are the only threat they may cheese you out of the game with camping knowing your teammates can't deliver.

:D
