When changing a champion take into account the skill needed to play it, and its current players
and that is.. when u change a champion you need to keep in mid its current player base and what they can do.
for example.. if we took
and suddenly made him "massively skill intensive" then it is vaery likely a vast majority of garen players, who picked him as a low elo very easy beginner champion, and then ending up liking him a lot.. might not be able to play this new style
this kind of thing happened with
's rework.
his kit is literally completely different than his old kit in terms of mechanical play, or at looks it looks like that to myself, as non aatrox player.
TLDR: (repost from the bottom)
you cant taking a champion that requires "X" skill level.. or the the abiltiy to do A, B and C REALLY well and suddenly raise their skill level to 3X or make ( like in nidalee's case) completely playable with just A, B and C, as long as u can surviving the first 3 min of the game in which r are required to master "Y" something which your champion has never needed to do and will never be used at any other point in the game past the first 3 min, but SUDDENLY the champion cant even reach level 3 without getting executed unless you can do it...
##PSA the following is backstory and goes into more detail about the issue, you can skip if don't like want to read the reasoning. it's backstory about my experiences with the issue and how i watched it evolve around my own main, while barely staying in tolerable territory
this was something i learned about back in season 6, but it never ended up recalling being an issue for my champion. and i dont suspect it will, but there was a period of time that i worried about it.
and that was when.. nidalee was thrown into the jungle
now from the start.. nidalee had traps to root monsters, and everything was fine and dandy. unless one path her ability to root jungle monsters was removed.
Now this took me VERY LONG TIME to get used to.. because it made me attempt to do the one thing in the game i specifically can't do and DON'T plays the ADC class because i am horrific at it... and that is kiting and stutter stepping.
eventually i was able to do it without getting executed
and that was fine until 8.10.. when riot made the scuttle change.
now 8.10 was so utterly unplayable that in 8.11 they changed a few things that made it possible to jungle as nidalee again, but stil much worse than it used to be
now i am not 100% certain how badly the loss of the 10 ap from celerity is going to effect her first clear. i do know it will be worse... but idk how much worse yet.. she has already dropped 3% winrate and i suspect she will fall more.
and it made me think that even though this really never was an issue for nidalee yet. and still probaly wont be the issue that cuases her to become bad.
it did make my think that.. had riot suddenly shoved nid into the jungle all at once with no root, i flat out wouldn't have been able to clear it, AT ALL.
my skills at kiting are still LAUGHABLY bad, but i have done my current rout so many times that as long as i dont die before i hit lvl 3, im usally good.
becuase when i started playing nidalee in season 3, she was a laner... in season 4... she was a laner... even the first half of season 5... she was a laner. although could be played in the jungle since 5.1 as well.
by season 6 when i came back to league after leaving when they removed her ability to lane. i spent the time to slowly learn how to kite with her.
something i NEVER needed to do in lane... and something that purposly stay the hell away form the ADC class becuase i know im so horrific at doing it.. and now suddenly.. something i NEED to do to not get "executed" in my jungle before level 3.
i was able to slowly get good enough to surive with her root, and then slowly though watching videos of her first clear pick one i could do relatively healthy
until again the scuttle change forces me to try to fight at lvl 2... this again screws with my clear.. forcing me to SKIP heal lvl 2 which made the clear easier and take pounce because without pounce nidalee has no trading, which is now 100% required at lvl 2
so again i needed to figure out SOME WAY to not get executed and be at a high enough health to contest scuttle at nidalee weakest point in the entirety of the game.
and this was all done mostly because nidalee was thrown into the jungle
ut what it changed was.. i was REQUIRED to be able to do somthing. on a champion. i was playing for two year. i could NOT do. i can still BARELY manager her first clear before i hit three and then the game becomes "normally nidalee" that i have always played.
but i feel that it is BECAUSE of this change alone.. her first clear being ABSURDLY hard to do while being forced to contest something at her weakest point while at her lowest hp level, is what _created _the winrate gap between "lower and high elo nidalee players"
now idk any other champions this has effected , but im sure it has effected others, and it is somthign riot needs to keep in mind when changing champions
you cant taking a champion that requires "X" skill level.. or the the abiltiy to do A, B and C REALLY well and suddenly raise their skill level to 3X or make ( like in nidalee's case) completely playable with just A, B and C, as long as u can surviving the first 3 min of the game in which r are required to master "Y" something which your champion has never needed to do and will never be used at any other point in the game past the first 3 min, but SUDDENLY the champion cant even reach level 3 without getting executed unless you can do it...
those ar NOT GOOD CHANGES
, granted it was an "all for one" game but his kit is REALLY simple.
would be easier than
vs
/
is the "default" match up to use as a "really bad matchup"
