Can Riot explain again what the typical ADC/BOT role is meant to do besides high ranged damage?

They use to also be the objective takers, but currently it seems like most champions are good objective takers, especially if the team has any earth dragons. I get that in pro levels where you have 4 other members in a call all coordinating together, they have a better fit in a team. But for any other situation, just taking any AD assassin and a support with any hard CC is far better in the lane match up. And since this game can't seem to stop being a major snowball fest, that unfortunate ADC will likely never come back from that lost lane since their assassin opponent can 3 shot them with just item 3134.

Thats not how it works lol, I mean in bronze sure because anything works in bronze. In a real game the assassin would get poke out easily, If they push up at all it's probably one of the easiest ganks for a jungler due to them having such low range. The bot tower would never even be touched by anyone other than minions when the melee duo are pushing because they'll just get poked out if they go to attack tower and or they'll just be a free gank.

why is it a melee duo? Ranged supports can have hard CC too. Bard Brand Annie Karma Janna Morgana Nami Lux Zilean Zyra all have good ranged poke/harass/counter engage/counter poke abilities in addition to at least 1 hard CC ability pre 6.

What ranged support has cc comparable to naut, leona, braum or even sion. Janna, raka, sona? i think not

Bard, Morg and lux all have comparable cc to the listed champs.

Lulu Nami Zilean And Technically Thresh is a ranged support as well.

I mean they have cc comparable to braum, I would say thresh is the only really comparable one, to leona and naut the others not so much.

Eh, im not really sure You understand what defines a role.

You talk like ADC's are objective takers, but EVERY role is an objective taker. Pushers are arguably the best at taking objectives, and thats usually a Top thing.

**ADCs are defined by kiting, sustained damage, and being fragile. ** They are essentially the DPS if league was an MMO. They need protection to be successful and apply lots of damage, this is why they are SUPPORTED.

They have been stated by riot before that they are suppost to be a team's primary objective takers. This was a while back, thus my post asking for a newer definition. Also, Kiting? Can't kite what kills you in .5s. Sure they use to be better kiters, but now they have maybe 20 meta champions who they effectively and reliably can kite. Even AP mids can now avoid the kite with item 3152, though more often they are using it to nuke you.

Don't forget, it is imperative to the ADC's success that, unless they are Ashe, they can't fall significantly behind the enemy's ADC by any means or they almost always lose lane, trades, and fights without being hard carried by their teammates.

Do you have proof? I don't remember seeing any post about ADC's being the 'primary' objective takers. Even if its true though, your still missing my point - Any class or role can take objectives, it's not really what defines a given role. What defines a role is HOW they take objectives. Teamfighting? Splitting? Pushing Power?

Also, Kiting? Can't kite what kills you in .5s. Sure they use to be better kiters, but now they have maybe 20 meta champions who they effectively and reliably can kite. Even AP mids can now avoid the kite with item 3152, though more often they are using it to nuke you.

Kiting is the art of creating enough distance between yourself and an assassin that they are UNABLE to damage you. I don't think you understand what kiting means based on your response. Many ADCs have strong mobility tools - check out Vayne and Corki. Even non-mobile champions like ashe have strong kiting tools baked into their kits. The idea that Distance is how they stay alive, rather than raw defensive items.

Yea, its easier to get in on adcs in this meta, i'll concede that point, that just means you need a bruiser or a tank to keep you safe - Peeling is more important than ever.

Don't forget, it is imperative to the ADC's success that, unless they are Ashe, they can't fall significantly behind the enemy's ADC by any means or they almost always lose lane, trades, and fights without being hard carried by their teammates.

Ashe? What? This is true of most champions in the game. If you fall behind, you are in trouble. This is doubly true in platinum+ ranked games. I'd argue that ADCS become relevent EARLIER in this meta - with penetration items and youmuus dominating the item choices, ADCS like Draven and Lucian are crushing the early game.
