Is it normal for someone to DROP 2 TIERS after playing placements?

I have 2 friends of mine, both were P3, and both dropped to S2, is this normal or is it another MMR problem just like flex?

Where exactly is the normal thing about this? working hard all season just to drop back to a tier you dont deserve to be in?

What's fair about challenger players being placed in P1?

If you actually "Deserved" to be in P3 then you will climb out and back into it in no time.

Happens every year. It's completely normal and some people act surprised. Diamond, Master, and Challengers all drop to Platinum to platinum at best. They quickly work their way back up. In fact everyone who "deserves" to be higher ranking, quickly gets back to where they were. Some do it faster because they just continue playing and return to their previous rating every year, instead of coming to the boards to complain about "omgz RITO I was X now Im silverz omgz" every year.

IT'S DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU CLIMB.

If you start where you left, you wouldn't have to climb to get there. They don't give NFL teams starting wins based on last season's performance, either. You have to prove yourself again.

Riot figures you wont continue to play if you don't climb. You most likely wont climb much if they place you where you were last year.
