One sided games for the whole season are the proof matchmaking is bad...

Playing this game for 4 seasons and every time you get a winning streak, you'll get same amount of games of a losing streak. EVERY TIME. You gotta have that sweet 50% win rate hehe xd. Throw in autofill in that equation + bad matchmaking... no wonder games are garbage. Who enjoys when the game is 30 kills to 8 kills ? Nobody. I'd really like riot checks into this.. 4 seasons of the same shit and nobody cares. How is it fair when you get on your team a d5 autofill that goes against d1 main of that lane. Where's the logic there ? That should be a balanced and a fair game ? Please ...

Yeah, matchmaking is really dumb a lot of the time. The other day it gave my team a Silver 1 ADC and the other team got a Gold 2 ADC. Not only that but when I checked everyone's ranking post game enemy team had no silvers, 4 high golds, and a plat. We had that 1 silver and 4 golds in the gold 5-3 range. Like, the odds are severely stacked against when our ADC is outmatched that hard and we didn't even have that missing power off-put somewhere else.

Silver 1 to plat 5 is barely different imo. I go against plat 5's frequently as Gold 3 and they feel the same, if not worse than high/low gold or even high silver players

In my d2 promos i got a plat 2 jungler because he was premade with a D4 adc against a d2 jungler i think i dont need to mention how that game went. Matchmaking is shit and that won't change apparently.

Similar shit in gold promos: 3 silvers incl me, 2 gold V's against 2 diamond 3's, 2 plats and a gold

You must have won a few matches, and the 50% win rate system decided it was time you lose some matches.

I was actually on a losing streak... :(

Well...

I see.

Obviously you went on a winning streak, and the 50% win rate system decided it was time for you to go on a losing streak.

The winning streak rebound is coming... followed by the losing streak.

same, i miss the old days where it was bronze vs bronze, silver vs silver, gold vs gold etc etc. These days you can just for the sake of balanced mmr get a matchup of your team being full bronze 5 and unranked vs enemy Diamonds and masters with at least 3 people playing their mains.

needless to say it is bullshit, and it does not help that occasionally people toss in screenshots into the board for further proof of having a gutted matchup of named example given.

i miss the old days where you at least had some chance to be truly good. These days youre either lucky they are worse than you, or unlucky because they are pure gods.

and sadly this problem will not get better cuz riot doesnt listen( and when they do they lie about it, then reverse their statements then usually reverse that then finally do it year(s) down the road)

and stuff you'd think they'd def fix they dont (creep block/pathing anyone?) and stuff you'd think they wouldnt they do (we noticed after the reduction of armor on turrets the game was going to snowbally, heres a monster that you can spawn and then proceeds to take half your turrets health and keep going!)

TLDR; point is riot doesnt listen and when they do it takes years, and even if they do they have no idea what either they are doing or what they truley want....either way dont hold your breath because this been talked about forever and its not lcs big plays so they dont care, 50-50 keeps u playing

All that matters are the resulting numbers from their prospective. So ignoring the in game stats is fine, if it results in better overall numbers.

There is no difference to them between a 30kills:25kills match than a 40kills:5kills match, if it's going to result in a 50% win rate overall. But when you combine that lack of differentiation and their attempts to squash game length down, then you're going to inevitably shift towards the ladder.

Matchmaking is meant to keep you where you are. MMR is a flawed system which is intended on keeping the first ones to climb to the top at the top.

Let me explain:

Each season we're given a 'soft-reset' which is Riot's way of saying "Hey we're starting over, but we're actually not, suckers!". Diamond to Challenger > Plat, Plat > Gold, Gold > Silver, Silver > Bronze, Bronze > Hahaha you think you're going anywhere even if you 10-0 lul.

Let's use a 1 million playerbase size for this example. MMR stays the same and the Diamond to Challenger people play each other over and over all the way back up to their last season's rank, there's only 2% (20 000) of them on one server (this is a big server). We'll say Plat has 5% of the playerbase (50 000) play against each other and there's a little bit more variation in where you end up. Now Gold, with 42% of the playerbase (420 000) play in a shitshow all season just to TRY and make it back to where they ended last season. The cream of the crop now, Silver>Bronze with 51% of the playerbase (510 000) who play against so many different people all muddies and you're never able to learn another players tendencies like you would in Diamond/Challenger so you're always playing against some new bullshit, you play all season just to HOPE you can make it to NEAR where you left off last season because you're treading through the shit sludge of the the league playerbase to do it.

So you have 2 options.

  1. Wait until the end(ish) of the season and if you're in Silver, find a high Gold player to duo with and you'll get MMR gains faster for each placement win and end up closer to your end of season target with fewer games.
  2. Buy a Diamond+ account and skip the years of shit your originally account has to go through to climb up from Gold to Diamond yourself.

Okay I lied, option 3. Find a team and play Ranked Flex where the true competitive players play. Fuck Solo Q.

  1. Start a new account after every placements where you don't place in a decent rank and duo with high Gold people each time to get highest starting point.

During this entire time you're spending $ on various things within the game feeding Riot's troll system.

How can this all be avoided?

Hard reset Ranked Solo Q MMR at the start of every season. Base ladder ranking on pure win/loss ratio. Base matchmaking off win/loss ratio for each position.

Don't hard-reset Ranked Flex. Why? Because this is where TEAMS GO TO PLAY A TEAM GAME.

Solo Q should be a monkey shitfest and the challenger tools should not be gifted the top rank every year, they should earn it by playing through the same complete shit the rest of us have to.

Thanks for reading.

While a legitimate issue, I feel this is more due to the game direction right now being a total shitshow (in that snowballing is stupidly easy and abhorrently obnoxious)

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Snowball is really stupid. Literally finished a game in 14 mins just right now. Game was over by 3-5 min mark from then on just snowballed the entire map.

Ah, right. For the past 2 seasons my ranked games looked like:

  1. Win 4 matches, get promoted.
  2. Lose 4 matches, get demoted.
  3. Win 4 matches, get promoted.
  4. Lose 4 matches, get demoted.

My end of the season ranks are basically decided in the first 2 weeks.

Imperial Japan2 votes

That means you aren't improving. Look through what you're doing wrong. Because I got from bronze 2- silver 1 last season and I'm gold 3 since my promos which placed me in bronze 1 this season

Sraeg20131 votes

More like regressing. Silver 1 on my first season quite literally 1 day too late for Gold. Then Plat for 2 seasons (2 -> 5). Then Gold 1. Now I'm Silver 1/3/4 in SQ, DQ and 3v3 respectively.

But I'll be honest. It WAS easier in Season 4 and 5. Maybe it's the 20-30% increase in damage thanks to Masteries, maybe I was just that good when I was starting.

As for the last season Gold 1 I was on the verge of crying. Think about it. Is it normal that when I was in Gold 1/2 I could win no problem, but the moment I got close to the Plat promo I was getting people who had mental capacity so low I was wondering, if they could tie shoelaces without help in real life?

I think I've been through 20 promos to Plat last season. Compared to my second season when I started in Gold 3 (lucky placements) and within the first month got to Plat 5.

Maybe it's something external/in your life that's affecting your gameplay? If you're regressing for some reason, I can only think that an external factor is what's causing your mentality to change which is affecting your gameplay? Maybe you did stuff differently in the past seasons? (different champs, roles, etc)

If anything it's the game affecting my life.

Or maybe we can thank "soft resets". If I were to merely stay where I was, there'd be no problem, but resets force the regression by putting me a whole tier lower than where I used to be.

Maybe you did stuff differently in the past seasons? (different champs, roles, etc)

Back then I played mid in 97% of games, now I'm forced to play support/jungle/top in 20% of matches so maybe there's that.

I've noticed match making is quite messed up in normals sometimes. I will occasionally play with pre 30s who aren't even smurfs... Ranked matchmaking though is fine from what I've seen. Although I have a rather low sample size of ranked games I've not ran into any issues thus far.

Skill needs to be expressed even when behind. Honestly, once you're behind by like 3k gold your team's skill stops mattering, and that's just dumb.

In my opinion, games that last longer than 30 minutes are not one sided. I had a bunch of those, if you were talkign about AR URF I would understand your pain though xD

I agree. There's a forced 50% win-loss ratio system, and that's why you always have shameful games (winning or losing), instead of balanced ones ;)

Just throwing it out there, my winrate is 48-49% and im still getting stomped in onesided games, just had a game with 16/33 team score wheeeee so fun and playable. You know what? Its getting fucking. OLD.
