Playing Rammus, have, you know, 470 armor in my W... but the MF ult does over 3500 damage BEFORE she bought LDR (and did the same amount of damage after she bought it)? Like, okay.
"You take 83% reduced physical damage" -- so, MF's ult is doing 40k damage before mitigation? For some reason that sounds wrong. So does armor not actually do anything? Does the tooltip lie? I wouldn't be surprised, given that ADCs are Riot's money makers.

Niyumi1 votesOkay, but I have FOUR HUNDRED AND SEVENTY armor, and take next to no damage from literally anything. Why does her ult 100-0 me in half a second? Even before she bought LDR, I just melted to everything she did. And her autos are doing 12% less damage after being cut down to 18% by my armor (~15% damage from her autos), so I really don't understand why she did so much.
venomous frost3 votesdiminishing returns, the difference between 260 armor and 470 armor is exactly 10%. Meaning your last 210 armor only gave you 10% reduction, while your first 10 armor already gives you 9% reduction, you're way better off buying health instead.
As for your question, she probably had BC (35% armor penetration), together with 7% from runes, so you would only have 41% reduction. And she might have had more penetration (last whisper?)

Before she had LDR, she melted me through autos and her ult. After LDR, she did more damage with her autos, about the same with her ult (100-0ing me in half a second, you know).
So, I had 98 base armor, 470 with my bonus. Even assuming she had 7% armor pen and the 15 from Duskblade (which wasn't even 15 until she hit 18), I'd still have 422 armor (which is what, 79% reduction?). Yet I still get one shot by her. Okay.
So after LDR, if I have 324 bonus armor at this point, that means I have 276 armor now. Armor formula is 100 / (100 + Armor)... so I'm taking 74% reduced physical damage. So, her ult does ~3600 damage (my max health) in about a second. So, her ult is what, 3 seconds? So, pre-mitigation, that's almost 14,000 a second, and almost 42k for the full channel. Does that sound right? No, that's absurd.
So armor lies, and does not in fact do what it says it does.

for all we know, a syndra might've hit you with a 2k ult that didn't show up on kill screen because the death recap is just not reliable.

Bard stuns me on a wall, doing 100 damage, MF ults, bang, dead.
Karthus slows me but never hits me, MF ults, bang, dead.
MF just randomly ults out of nowhere as we're getting dragon (I'm full health at this point), bang, dead.
I walk up and combo MF, she's at like 300 health, ults, bang, dead.
The rest of her team literally couldn't hurt me, and in teamfights 90% of the damage I took was from her, even though, you know, I'm supposed to counter ADCs as Rammus.
Zielmann1 votesYou can see the game in the OP's match history. End-game, MF had Duskblade and LDR. Per the OP, she hadn't finished LDR yet, so I'd assume she probably had LW at least. So without counting runes/masteries, that's 15 Lethality + 30% bonus armor pen. Rammus would have ended the game with about 3500 HP to go with that armor, so not so shabby there at all, either.

Each point of % reduction is worth more than the next. Its exactly proportional to how hard it is to get the next point.
Each point of armor gives you +1% HP vs physical damage. There is no diminishing returns involved at all.

Niyumi1 votesFor the most part, yes. Even if others were hitting me, they did next to no damage (<300 in a teamfight, while MF would do all of the rest even without her ult).
For her ult, no. (It's literally the only thing that hits me, and it 100-0s me) For her damage contribution in teamfights, yes.

(See GP's old Parley, Poppy's Old Q, Static Shiv) That aside, you don't ever want to take 18 critical hits in a row from anyone. With any Armor Pen or (god forbid) a Black Cleaver, she'll just lay you down.
