The only change I'll accept is reverting this entire patch. Holy shit this is awful.

SeductiveGrandpa2 votes

The only thing I want is some rebalances around this patch, theres too many good things added to be just removed. (Cough cough Twitch Corki Graves player cough)

Specter0271 votes

I like new Twitch, I miss old Graves. I don't think the new Graves is fun, just stupidly strong.

Anidan2 votes

If they did that for every change some people thought was awful we'd barely even have a game right now. The things we have now just need balance changes proper now that we can see its effects on actual even playing fields, as opposed to bronze vs. platinum and etc.

You enjoy adc's being even more overpowered? Tanks being useless? Mages being useless? Also, the new pots are really, REALLY weird, and I don't know why riot increased the health potion price.

Sightless663 votes

Health potion prices increased to fit better with higher starting gold and with the removed cost of warding in lane. Basically, if you increase people's potential gold at the start of the game and on the first back that much, you let people buy more pots and significantly increase their sustain in lane. That much sustain that easily can cause problems, so Riot made HP pots cost more.

I actually agree with this decision. A higher starting gold and no ward costs could make sustain too easy to get. It might play out poorly and/or need tuning, but I think it's on the right track.

Armor stacking is more effective now than it was before because last whisper and its upgrades only works on bonus armor not base armor, so tanks are definitely not useless. Neither are mages, the majority of them got some form of mana buff and dorans ring now has better mana regen too.

Do you even logic? If last whisper and its upgrades only work on bonus armor, armor stacking is weaker than before, and not having any armor/ having little amount of bonus armor is better.

UberAffe6 votes

If you build the same amount of armor that you used to it will be more effective now then it was last season. How does that not make sense?

So this statement is false, it depends on the amount of armor you build, the less armor you build the more you gain from last season, the more armor you build the less you gain from last season, until the point it is less effective than last season.

UberAffe3 votes

The amount of armor doesn't matter, it will be more effective than last season. The percent of armor pen on last whisper went down by 5% and it now only applies to bonus armor instead of total armor. The percent of armor pen on the upgrades is 5% higher but still only applies to bonus armor. Assuming at least 80 base armor by level 18 which is the low side of the average for tanks in order for the Upgraded last whisper to match the pen of the old one you need at least 560 bonus armor.

That is the break even point. You don't see many tanks even getting that much total armor.

took me a bit to realize that your comment is inside the quote lol.

rampaging poet5 votes

That crossover point is 560 bonus armour. Unless you were Rammus, Malphite, or Taric against a 4 AD team you weren't building that much armour anyway. Secondly, even if you planned to what items got you that high? With runes and masteries you'd need item 3075x5 which is not a sane build in any circumstances.

As a player who exclusively plays Mages, I enjoy how useless I've become.

edit: ppl realize I'm being sarcastic right? (was confused why this was being upvoted) I don't really think the changes hurt mages much, if at all

I agree with you.

My best lane is mid with Viktor Malzahar and Kassadin , and it pisses me off to see Mages get the shaft in this patch. (Maybe not AS much for Kassadin, considering's he's an anti-mage)

Yeah the ap nerfs were straight up stupid who tought it was a good idea giving ad champions all the new fancy items while buffing mr and increasing the cost in all ap items for no reason shouldnt be allowed to work in balance ever again

Ditto, completely ditto. Quitting LoL until I can play my champions without being forced to play on stilts.

I don't have any problem with you liking it. But it's too imbalanced and most changes needs to be fixed. New masteries sucks to EVERY SINGLE ap mid... Tanks are pretty bad ( even worse ) than before because of giant slayer and cheaper LW.

UberAffe1 votes

too late for that

Sgathach5 votes

The only experience I have is from last year and based on the bad choices they made (and kept) I highly doubt they're going to change anything except for champion balance tweaks.

We're kinda stuck with them, unfortunately.

IcyPepper4 votes

Well, at least it's the preseason.

Everything is going to be broken, OP or UP to hell and back.

Let's give them a patch or two to balance things out. Or, at least, we can hope they balance things out.

This is what I am worried about. Don't want they saying " We need more data" and let this broken adc's yasuo shit roll for more time. ( Also, tryndamere is pretty broken )

Anidan3 votes

They'll change it, don't worry. This happened last pre-season, too, except it was primarily the Junglers doing some really stupid shit (namely Warwick with his 60% win-rate across all elos).

Specter0271 votes

But I remember having my Warwick.. er... I remember Warwick being banned most of the time. I remember WW 4.20 patch. I remember when Alistar/Nidalee and Lucian were must bans leading up to last years worlds. I seem to recall two incidences of Ryze being broken beyond belief - both in the past 12 months alone. I even remember a few years back Jax and LeBlanc were must bans. I'll never forget Kass having a 90%+ Ban Rate or Juggernaut Skarner on release. But, I always had fun because a ban or two could seemingly fix whatever oversight at Riot caused a champ to be broken.

The game right now (new ward system is hit or miss, overly complicated potion pathways, terrible masteries, OP champs, item cluster***) goes beyond what can be fixed with a ban. And there are a lot of insane champions - where picking them forces the other player to counter pick hard of simply lose lane and get snowballed on.

Top lane and bot lane roles are just going to switch with this patch. Send your adc that can push and get rift herald with your support. Now you have 2 people with possible mid/jg assistance for rift herald while top laners are left in the bottom lane. Maybe they fight for drag once in a while, but they will do the same thing they have always done...farm fest in their lane. The one thing I do not like about rift herald, is only the person dealing the KB gets the buff, so if your jg smites it, anyone else there gets nothing from it. Tele/smite top is back? If no one actually swaps their lanes...wave clear tops will always be triumphant over non wave clear top laners. Mana costs for certain champions need to be adjusted since there is no longer the mana pot option. With all of the people playing ADC's now, burst mages and assassins are really effective since there's no longer 3-4 tanks on the map, but sustain mages are in an extremely bad place now.

A Miss Fortune4 votes

Give Riot time, they know there's a lot of issues that kind of the whole point of pre-season. Introducing really big changes and fixing any issues so that by time the actual season begins there won't be as many.

MofoJames3 votes

Yeah, this isn't constructive criticism. If you listed things you didn't like, that'd be something. The fact that you're unhappy totally has merit and Riot should care. But if you don't give some direction for them to improve you're just bitching without actually being helpful in any way.

And sit back and pretend like mages were good last patch, damn y'all so funny. Stop trying to make rito revert the tank smack changes and chill out. Mages had 3 seasons it's okay for them to relax for a while.

Mages had 3 seasons it's okay for them to relax for a while. We need counter play to all this new AD shit, mages and tanks are the only way. This game hasn't been balanced since the juggernaut update, and this patch just completely fucked everything.

Anidan2 votes

Erm.. I don't quite know how to tell you this, but: since most of the changes benefit ADCs, tanks are the last thing you have to an answer. ADCs are literally meant to counter tanks later in the game. It's their job. Their high sustained DPS busts through the durability of the tank. That's the case now, it was the case back in Season 1, and it was the case in post-Cinderhulk nerf Tank Meta (the era most people consider League to have been at its most balanced point in a very long time).

Bruisers and Assassins are your actual answers. Bruisers were outright designed to kill ADCs even in a sustained fight, and Assassins just plain kill anyone squishy - which ADCs just so happen to be. Interestingly enough, both of those can use the new items as well.

Well tanky supports are required now. You need champions that already have armor in their build path (especially item 3143 ) or you spend an entire game dying to some crit burst. Adcs have been given enough damage to be seen in top/jungle/mid and bot. Welcome to the league of crit or super tank

The new runes are trash the only good tree is sorcery the tank tree is no existent way to ruin a great game balance def needed tanks are as squishy as magees
