Is anyone else not enjoying League right now?

*Well this blew up overnight. Please try and keep it civil and not personally attack others. We're all humans here with our differing opnions.

I've not been having fun with this game recently. If the preseason is anything to go by I'm not looking forward to what Season 6 has in store honestly. Because most of the changes that occurred in preseason I either outright hated or were indifferent to.

Unlike last year's preseason which made my balls roll up like a venetian blind.

I don't like the state of the game right now, the community (or at least the people I've been forced to associate with) are unpleasant at best and completely dreadful human beings at worst.

What the hell happened League? Am I just losing my love for this game or is anyone else just really not liking it's direction right now?

I think i figured out why people (including myself) are bored with the game in its current state. When your team is the one stomping the enemy team...its really not very fun, its actually really boring cuz its too easy. And when your team is the one being stomped its insanely frustrating cuz you cant do anything about it at all, so you get pissed. And with the way league is right now...80% of games being stomps one way or the other, that only leaves 20% of the time when the game is a challenge and is actually fun to play. Make sense? You spend most of your time playing games where your either bored or pissed/frustrated. Very few games actually bring a challenge where its even between both teams...thats when its fun! I can honestly see Riot fixing a lot of the issues....but if they dont give us waaaaaaaay more control over vision then i wont be playing much league in the future. Taking away stealth wards was the dumbest decision ever. That guy should be fired

MrWasjig33 votes

The removal of Greens along with fucking with the trinkets was one of many changes I absolutely hated this preseason because it's just a middle finger to people who actually bothered with them.

And I agree about that. It's not as bad as it was when preseason hit but the stompy one sided nature of matches is not fun for either side. Stomping = Boring Being stomped = Equally as boring, if not frustrating.

I didn't like the pacing changes. Longer, more evenly skilled matches were by far the most enjoyable. Because even if you lost it was still fun because it all came down to one fight that the enemy team played better, just enough to secure victory. THAT is fun, tense and above all, entertaining.

Guess I'll just let League sit, unplayed on my desktop for a few more weeks...possibly months. Depends on how the state of the game goes.

I feel the same. I only liked the free home guards

MrWasjig6 votes

One of the few changes I actually liked. But even that's a stretch since it removes a choice from boot enchants. Sure everyone gets it free but, well I hope I made my point. Riot always talks about "Diversity" and "Meaningful choice" and that change removed the former for boot enchants.

It is good as a helper for the defending team at least, and that I approve of. Too little help is given to the losing team, or even the team on the backfoot.

El Seibzehn33 votes

I don't agree. Homeguards was by far the best enchantment you could get, going so far as to say that 9 times out of 10 you HAD to buy it. All season long I wanted to buy other enchantments but I couldn't do that because of how important Homeguards was. Now I can actually pick Distortion for flash + ulters, or Captain for Janna, or Furor for Warwick. Riot was completely right to make this change, not because it removed diversity, but because one choice completely crowded out diversity.

You're not having fun, but it's alright because Riot is here to assure us that League is going in the right direction...even though it isn't.

MrWasjig14 votes

Riot has assured the player base many things. Mordekaiser's Jugger%%%% rework had a lot of reassurances behind it. And look how that turned out. Malicious Metal won't shut up about it. (I mean that in the lightest way possible, his devotion to the champion is admirable. Or at the very least yandere levels of obsessive) Either way props to him for doing what he does.

What the hell happened League?

Money. Money happened.

MrWasjig4 votes

I've joked about it before but I doubt money is what's causing the game to feel pretty ass right now.

Saianna28 votes

Tbh it's pride.

They do whatever they want because that fake feeling that they are Riot and they can do anything and we'll still enjoy it.

The success they've made when game was relased caused them think, that we, players, are unnecessary addition.

Rioter repertoir is what Meddler/Phreak used to be in before season 1. Now they are lofty figures. Why would they want to talk with pleb like us?

Earl Eulrich17 votes

don´t be so harsh on meddler though, considering he´s not even involved that much with LoL he´s still one of the most visible figures on these boards.

Still, i also think recent development has to do a lot with some sort of false pride - and it pretty much started to decline with the retcon...they had too much success and too little planning ahead. Then it all came together and now they seem to be flying blind. With any luck they´ll just hit a few turbulences and will be good again, but right now it seems they´ll crash into a mountain eventually.

Keevalroy6 votes

I'll give the trip a few months before our pilot finally admits we're lost and running out of fuel.

Earl Eulrich6 votes

dunno, with the retcon they are still pretending lore is flying better than ever...they can be very delusional. It´s kinda like they studied economics.

This is all blatantly untrue.

I'm legit tired of people wanting to wring Rioters for admittance of failure. How many people would even be willing to do that in the very game we're playing atm (I should gank? No, you should ward! - Terrible Jungler number 15XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX)? They've already admitted they missed the mark with the Cass rework. They admitted they missed the mark with the Sona rework (and Repetoir stated recently that this was due to budget concerns). They've been backpedaling with Morde for ages now, and they made a huge write-up apology/explanation for Fiora's rework. In a game with 127 different champions, not everything is gonna go right, but this doesn't mean that the player-base is all of a sudden better at game development and balancing than the damn dudes paid to do it, nor does it mean we can keep everything in stasis forever because one change is gonna piss someone somewhere off or cause imbalance for a bit. Content is added and balanced like clockwork here, and all people see is what goes wrong and never what goes right. Just like you and the OP of this low-quality thread.

Saianna3 votes

As Leadpaintchips said I haven't seen

Stashu apologizing for Cassiopeia CT apologizing for Morde

They decided to follow "I know better than you so be quiet" way of thinking. And look where we are now. They havent admitted that their reworks might have been failures. What would be the simplest thing to do in that case? How 'bout rolling back those changes on those reworks?

It didn't happen because they couldn't bear the fact that they've messed up. Swollen pride caused 2 champions to go trough thorny road of changes.

It isn't pride. IT'S MONEY. I even put it in caps.

Game development is expensive. I know for a fact that a single fighting game character can cost up to 1 million bucks to fully complete, animations and everything. LoL characters probably don't cost that much, but if they do a rework that they're working on, even if there might be red flags showing up, they can't just scrap all the work they did. They paid to develop it. We don't know how long it was being worked on behind the scenes either.

The better answer, instead of whining for reverts, is to look for ways to make the changes work for the better, but no one seems to think farther ahead than the next 30 minutes on these boards so now Morde's a complete mess between what Riot wanted him to do and players kicking and screaming against it.

Saianna4 votes

Sorry mate, but I disagree fully with what you've said.

also this part:

The better answer, instead of whining for reverts, is to look for ways to make the changes work for the better

Tbh i want to slap you between eyes really bad right now. Do you have any, ANY idea how many posts have been made on how to fix Cassiopeia? Or Mordecaiser?

Malicious Metal is fighting for Mordecaier and so far he managed to win a new name for Morde.

Or maybe you say it's Riots job to find ideas to fix certain champions? Then well.. They are pretty lazy doing that.

Nerfed Warwick cause of incoming rework. And then Meddler says they have nothing in plans for him. Cassio has been raped "yea maybe in half a year we'll check her".

Stop with this bullshit dude. Riot is huge company. I do not believe they have no resources for 2 things this game work on: Champions and balance.

Personally, I find the boards are far worse than the community at large. Preseason is always gonna be preseason, I'm not bothered to care either way, it will settle down.

But really, if you're not having fun, that's a sign you should either take a break or quit completely. If a game's not fun, why are you playing? Not trying to be a jerk about it, but you should enjoy games. That's what makes them games.

Alljoy8 votes

I find the boards are far worse than the community at large.

I feel like that holds true for most forums that belong to a particular game.

MrWasjig17 votes

I did take a break. It was called Fallout 4. I figured after a while of leaving League alone I felt like playing a few matches. Unfortunately I'm not blessed with clairvoyance {{summoner:2}} so I didn't know that my time was going to be wasted because I didn't enjoy myself.

I know it's preseason but even now it has died down and patch 5.24 has been live for several weeks without change, the game state just feels really shit. I'm just gonna out and say it.

And thinking the Boards is worse than the game is a moot comparison. Both are populated by the same vocal shit heads eitherway. (Yes I did just make that sweeping statement so sue me)

SirHeavyScrotum20 votes

Yeah it feels like the average score of the game is 5-22 at 20 minutes, so the losing team is always salty, or you have someone on your team who is salty from the last game that was 5-33 at 20 minutes. Riot made the game less snowbally in seasons 3 and 4 because the majority of the player base didn't like it, then for some reason they decided to undo it for the next season. The majority of players don't like it but Riot will never listen. GG

League is unfun right now because we're in the most unbalanced, stompiest meta ever. And the reason it's like this is... well everything since GP's rework (GP's rework included) has been objectively broken, or outright stupid. GP was freewin for several patches until they finally "fixed" him (he's still busted), reworked Fiora was so cancerous they made a whole article about what a huge failure her rework was (yet still refuse to nerf her), the Juggernauts patch was the worst major change to happen to League since, well, ever. Then they made it worse with preseason, fucking everything sideways. AD itemization is way too strong compared to AP, tankiness isn't as valuable as it used to be (unless you're Tahm), assassins are untouchable, Thunderlord's is mandatory (and makes assassins even more broken), Wards are basically gone (which makes assassins even more broken ), and TahmKench and Rengar exist and are nigh-unbeatable but Rito refuses to touch them. Don't even get me started on item 3124 Jax .

The Fiora article did not say a bad word about her gameplay, the only problem it mentioned was them messing up her splash art a bit. Don't mention an article to suit your agenda if you haven't even bothered to read it.

Smite's balance is no better.

Odin and Ymir are basically Kench without the stupid amounts of CC.

Birefringence5 votes

Sounds pretty balanced, Kench without his stupid amounts of CC.

Crossette2 votes

Well, Ymir has about the same amount and can afford to build resistances and Odin just has a Veigar E that doesn't stun you, you just can't pass it. It's basically a massive Jarvan ult on a low cooldown.

MrWasjig6 votes

Little Stick Man6 votes

no because league probably wont do a 180 from where it is now and you don't like other mobas so looks like when it comes to mobas all together you're fucking done for

MrWasjig10 votes

That's rather melodramatic for simple changing in tastes. Also I'm not asking for League to do a full 180. If they are balance changes or, just any changes I like the looks of it's entirely likely I'll enjoy the game more than I am currently.

Little Stick Man12 votes

I don't really care what your tastes are, but realistically, the problems we're facing now in preseason with the games ending in 20 mins and the horrible snowballing have been known about for **months ** and it doesn't doesn't look like its going to go back to when you had a chance if you were behind

I left for all the same reasons as anyone else would have. Uninstalled it so I'm not tempted to come back just to play my favorite champs or ARAM just 'for fun.'

Tempted to get into DotA 2 again, but idk enough people who play it to start investing myself into it.

RasCaelestis2 votes

I did. Just sometimes come back to the boards to see if things have changed or are even slightly better.

Right now, Guild Wars 2 (which I just got into about two months ago), Fallout 4, and Civ V are providing a much better (and importantly, more fun) experience than League has in a long time. I may go back eventually, but the only thing that really connects me to League anymore are the friends I have that still play it.

What are you personally disliking about the current game? Can you put a finger on it?

Personally, I do not like the Thunderlord's meta at all. And I am somewhat muffled that Riot did not fix the issues with that mastery before the holiday break...

MrWasjig16 votes

Oh blimey where to begin. A good 90% of the preseason changes I'd say. Given that they've been in place for several weeks now I think it's fair that we can disregard the "It's just preseason" argument. Because once Season 6 starts most of what was changed, will still be here so that argument is totally irrelevant at this point.

  • I didn't like the pacing changes.

  • The warding changes were a middle finger in the face of people who bothered with them and Support players (Such as myself). The ensuing trinket changes as well (They're all shit).

  • League of Thunderlord's (Because Riot loves their diversity am I right?).

  • The new masteries as a whole are restrictive, have little meaningful choice thus failing on what they planned for them and just come down to what keystone you want. Which as we know, will be Thunderlord's for about 95% of champions.

Even if they add more Masteries it'll be a while until the new system stops feeling anemic and worthless outside of the keystones.

And that's only scratching the surface of all the shit I want to slag off.

they have yet to put out a follow up patch bro because after preseason their next patch takes over a month to apply because its a follow up to preseason honestly just wait it out and people dont remember last preseason to be this crazy because it was the only preseason where they didnt really add a whole lot. the preseason before that was crazy as well at the one before too

MrWasjig9 votes

I've heard this one many times before but I have a rebuttal. The patch we're playing on has been in place for several weeks, longer than any other preseason patch. As a result the game has settled and remained the same for longer than it usually does. And it feels bad. Also as I;ve said in other replies I enjoyed last season's preseason, so it's not just down to "Oh it's just preseason".

What happened? Let's see riot wanted diversity. we got it. You are somehow suffering in your real life. League is a part of that. If you don't love it. Find a game on steam that is like league in a Moba way. and when you are ready to try again you do it.
