Why are there not more champions who have these scalings?

ARMOR, MAGIC RESIST AND HEALTH.

This is a sure fire, guaranteed way to prevent those assassins who can build full tank. By giving defensive scaling abilities on more defensive based champions, or giving certain assassin's with defensive abilities defensive scalings on their escapes or shields. This way they need to pick damage or defense, where going both (or 2 offensive - 4 defensive) is not the best, or even a good option.

Honestly I am not all to sold on the whole skirmishers class being a mesh between carry damage and meatshield tankiness. There is a reason why those two classes are separated. It is because having both is too open from abuse because of the usefulness and minimal downside to going any build (damage, tanky or both) while maintaining an elevated success rate over more static champions.

Kinda wondering the same. Why don't more tanks have scaling with their resistances?

There's probably a good reason.

The answer to this is when Darius has item 3071 item 3742 item 3065 item 3083 item 3143 item 3102 He atleast has one damage item and can kill everyone. If he could do that without the black cleaver more people would be even more salty

Defensive champions.

Galio Rammus MalphiteBraum Leona Taric

Champions who scale FROM their resistances. there arent many, unfortunately, because riot has this wierd hardon for HP and minimal resistances so stacking resistances isnt very viable.

Because then we get fuckhueg tanks who still do a decent amount of damage, especially to squishies.

Jesus Christ, this is just reinforcing the tank meta.

I mean, we have Tahm, who's ult makes his abilities+autos scale on his max health, and we know how much bitching there was.

Tahm is an AP bruiser. "tank meta" doesnt exist either. its always been a marksman meta. ALWAYS. resistance scalings are almost always for utility or off-scaling, and are never very strong. what you see as a 'tank meta' is actually bruisers with high amounts of CC.

Nononono.

Let me give an example... Mundo.

He's a tank. He does his job well - disruption. How does he do it? By being too tanky to burst and doing massive damage to squishies. After all, he has little cc.

Now he can only do massive damage because of his %hp scalings and high bases. What if we also made those abilities scale of HP? Megatanks would do tons of damage by virtue of... building tank stats.

Mundo is a juggernaut.

Tahm is a tank though.

... Mundo also falls under the AP bruiser because he scales off of AP and health. Bruisers use HP and damage stats, tanks use resistance and utility.

Technically, everyone can be built tank. you just build item 3025 item 3065 item 3083 item 3748 item 3068 item 3111 and BAM. youre a tank. But true tanks - much like true supports - are utility based with weak non-standard scalings.

So who is a tank?

I'd like an example, please.

Were you not around for the true support thing?

True tanks are champions who largely lack damage on their own but scale off of resistances. Bruisers are champions who scale off of health and damage. Champions designed specifically to be tanks are champions like braum and leona; theres only a handful who were designed to BE tanks.

Nautilus, Sion, Maokai, Zac. Their kits are loaded with CC and are built for being in the fray.

You also have champions like Shen, Alistair, Braum, and Leona, who are better used as defense peelers while the guys above engage.

These champions have enough hard CC in their kits to change the flow of a fight and have survivability tools to stay alive. Mundo just has survivability tools and damage, he has no way to engage beyond walking into someone and that's including using his cleavers.

Huh, I always thought of it as 'damage tanks' and 'cc tanks', with the idea of tank being someone who is tanky and disrupts. Thank you!

No, we'll just turn tanks into tanks who deal shit loads of damage.

Imagine an AP Alistar. Oneshots and loads CC, right? Now, imagine an Alistar with the same damage as an AP Alistar, but now he has Armor, health, and MR.

The scalings wouldn't be as high as AP scalings.

Also, many of the benefits to ad/ap items wont be used if they go full tank, such as CDR, multiple pen items, and crit for examples. Sure maybe 1-2 items have these as side benefits, but you wouldn't have the damage to make them worth it.
