Why were Lichbane and Duskblade nerfed for the same reason

D357R0Y3R··25 votes·11,216 views

Yet Triforce is STILL A FUCKING PROBLEM

Lichbane around season 4 got nerfed because as an item it had too much burst power, as a result riot nerfed it and compensated lichbane users TwistedFate Fizz (and i don't remember the rest)

Duskblade in season 8: same shit

TRINITY FORCE THOUGH Its fine for a bruiser to rush it and get a massive powerspike+ become a tanky zed after item 3053 item 3748 item 3078

TF used to only give 150% of base AD with the Spellblade effect. This was buffed to 200% quite a long time ago and hasn't been changed since. Frankly, most of the champions that are doing abusive amounts of burst still aren't building item 3078 most of the time. It's usually item 3147 and/or item 3230 that's giving them 'free' burst on top of their kit. They even changed how Giant's Strength on item 3053 worked specifically so that it wouldn't synergize with item 3078's Spellblade effect (as it did previously).

yea jax camille and irelia doing abuse amount of burst aren't building it

Those champs don't actually have a ton of burst (Camille eventually does, but only late game when she has like 350+ AD and only because it's also converted to true damage and hence not mitigated by armor/MR at all). Irelia and Jax get more burst from Titanic than they do from TF (especially once Sterak's is done). Now a champ that DOES have a ton of burst is Vi, her with Draktharr's+Rav. Hydra=can 3-hit kill a squishy without even ulting and even if Vi isn't fed. Like Vi used to build TF, but since Drakkthar's was added to the game, it has replaced TF in most her builds (in mine too, it's just better on her).

Frankly the issue is less about champions and more about the items in the game. Sterak's Gage is OP as shit rn, hence a lot of the champions that can use it well are strong (hello all 3 you mentioned; the reason they're good right now isn't TF, it's that Sterak's is making sure they live long enough to apply plenty enough damage to kill someone). Similarly we got AD assassins/divers and Draktharr's, Zed and Vi aren't so much OP as they are beneficiaries of that item being in the game (it's why they're so good right now and why Draktharr's has had to be nerfed 3 times now).

item 3147 deals 150 damage at lvl 18,item 3078 over 280 damage with 1.5 sec of CD,add it a item 3748 and you can oneshot or almost (another broken item in my opinion, its damage is just insane)

item 3053 now doesn't directly synergize with item 3078 but as compensation they gave it more damage which will go in the champion kit

just play as/against any trinity bruiser and look at your damage once you close those 3 items, you kill any squishy in less than 1.5 sec,on top of that most of them have many gap closer and defense in their kit so you can't even kite or try to burt them down

Why would you compare the dmg at lvl 18? Also duskblade is cheaper.

Why would you compare the dmg at lvl 18?

it was a numerical example, but even for lower levels it's the same,TF proc always outdamages dusk proc

Also duskblade is cheaper.

also trinity gives more stats and can be procced way more often than duskblade

anyway we were comparing the burst that those items gives,he said that item 3147 gives more burst than item 3078 while it's the contrary TF alone gives more damage while the lethality in the duskblade makes them about even when you hit a full rotation, but the point here is that the trinity bruisers will have like 4000+HP (counting the sterak shield) while doing almost the same burst as a squishy assassin does

BEK Makadur1 votes

If TF is so much better why dont assasines buy it?

wildfox9T1 votes

they need to snowball in early so they go for cheaper items, they won't stay enough for proccing it multiple times and its stats are bad for them

not saying it's better, but that its burst is comparable to an assassin item while it's supposed to be a bruiser item

The steraks changes compensated nothing. It was a huge fuckin nerf and nothing else.

what champion has 140 base AD to deal 280 ?

wildfox9T1 votes

champions with high base AD like Garen and Darius started to build it,anyway most of trinity users have ~120bAD lvl 18 which is 240 (about 100 more than duskblade),which can be also procced multiple times (in 1.5 sec you'd deal 480 damage)

the point is the same, its burst is insane

3TWarrior1 votes

trinity force also has a terrible build path where practically the only benefit is Sheen and is the most expensive item in the game. most champions have around 90+ base AD total

While it is a very impressive item for burst damage, it will very rarely be acquired first. Jax is one example, but his issue is more from runes than the champion himself

stormrazer is probably a decent pick on him as well for extra burst/AD/AS

i've been away from the game to really argue for strategy and such, but you also have to be within garen or darius's melee range to take the full damage and have to account for their cooldowns. Garen will get the most use out of it from his Q

if we compare the result though, let's say a champ has 70 armor at level 18 100 / 170 = roughly 59% damage taken or for everything hat he dished out including his Q, only about 282 total though the Q damage would add onto this

at level 18, 282 about 16% of your hp and then whatever the Q adds on

if it's 250, that would bring it up to roughly 150 extra damage or 430 total

though after looking that the wiki, garen's numbers are high. 142.5 AD at level 18 or 570 + Q in one AA reset

570 + 150 = 720 * 0.6(though low by some champs, caitlyn specifically who has over 80 armor)

432 damage or just over 20% of the standard marksman 2000

of course, they could have other sources of AD, but I do not have that information

Most champs that use TF have level 18 base AD in the 120s, sometimes less. So that's more like 240, it doesn't give lethality (big early on, since by level 9 iirc lethality is in full effect), it's almost 1000 gold more expensive. Titanic can actually do more than TF (particularly on higher health fighters/builds. My point was more that TF isn't alone in providing lots of damage to these champs, the reason you see that trio is because of the inter-item synergy they have (TF HP helps steraks shield+spellblade adds burst, the item is a grab-bag of useful stats to most fighters, the 20% CDR on it in particular is nice; TH adds more HP=more to sterak's shield, AD, burst with active, scaling with hp too).

The Sterak's changes made the item MUCH better because now instead of giving base AD is gives bonus AD, which many fighters scale with (before, only the juggernauts that actually had total AD ratios consider Sterak's good). Also, at 50% that usually ends up being around 60 AD at level 18 (easily 40+ by time you finish it), so the current iteration of Sterak's is giving you upwards of a BF sword worth of AD, 450 hp, AND an insanely huge shield, all for 3200g. What other item for them is that efficient? Only thing is, Sterak's isn't a good first item because of how much the shield is improved by having bonus health from other sources (75% of 450 is 312.5, so that's a modest shield, but adding just TF makes that 525 instead, once TH is done, you're looking at 862.5). Even with the decay after 0.75 that still buys you about 2-3 seconds in most situations. Which is a LOT of time for champions that have good damage output after getting a few items. This one item is making them extremely tanky (far more than the rest of what they build and it's not even slot inefficient for getting AD at the same time; look at TH, 450 hp as well, but only 35 AD passive/actives are similarly nice, maybe not even as good, and it's 3500g).

The evidence is in the math, league is very much a numbers game (this is why crit builds are ass right now, for example, IE is much less cost efficient than it used to be AND it's buildpath is worse to boot, AS+crit items are more expensive too).

TF+Titanic+Steraks is a better burst build than Duskblade+Hydra+Stormrazor….. Better sustained damage too. The difference is duskblade users have easier target access, except for the pick or ban outliers who are mechanically breaking the game and just unfun to play against as a result.(Irelia, Jax, Camille)

You have to see that TF, TH, SG cost 1200 gold more. Duskblade is built way faster than TF. Its not just about the power of an item but also when it is accesible.

You can fix that though by lowering the cost after nerfing the % bAD scaling back to 150. I personally think it'd be pretty fair. Currently champions that build trinity force for the MOST PART do better at 40+ minutes than they do at every other part of the game. Trinity Force afaik has always been meant to be a mid game item though. Lowering the cost and the damage would put these champions back to mid game without making them completely insane late game.

Level 9 Irelia has 90 bAD. That's 180 damage. Duskblade goes up to 150 damage at level 18. Doesn't stop there though because that's JUST the trinity proc. Add in the actual basic attack and it's doing 270 damage. Same could be said about duskblade, but a Zed at level 9 has 85.9 bAD, so you'd be getting even lower damage by comparison. Level 9 duskblade does 86 damage. So you're comparing 270 damage vs 171.9 damage. That's a 100 damage difference with a much easier way to proc and can be procced every 1.5 seconds.

I agree that Trinity Force is an overpowered item. Way too much upfront burst damage and synergy with certain brusiers. As it stands champions like Irelia and Jax get this item and pretty much instantly kill you.

duskblade nerfed?

Cause I wouldn't say nerfed when it's been given compensation buffs every single time they touch it.

yea god bless the 3 lethality compensation which buffed assassin's damage by ~~2% while losing 50 burst damage

Duskblade and LB give more damage stats than TF. They make all your skills better.

TF makes your skills only a little better and need the AA between spells for its damage.

LeBlanc Rose1 votes

Wow, its so unfair for a straight damage item to have more offensive stats than one with large amounts of HP, CDR, Attack Speed, Movement Speed and Mana.
