"Having a high pick rate and a high win rate is a signal of balance issues" - No it doesn't

It is a signal that champion may be overtuned. And might need some nerfs. But it is NOT a guarantee.

So please stop throwing this BS statistic around like it means your absolutely right. The only thing it means is that we should look into it and say if they are ACTUALLY OP, via other statistics that aren't just win rate/bans. Because more often then not the community is wrong about a champions strength like 90% of the time.

high pick and winrate is generally the best indicator that a champion is overtuned

It isn't though because you don't look at all the facts. Caitlyn being one of the examples on the front page, has a 46% win rate on new players that climbs up to a steady 50% when you get about 25+ games on her. Which is perfecftly fine.

But ONLY goes up to 53% max when you are at 75+ games.

She has a 30% playerate with an AVERAGE of a 51% winrate. But given that the AVERAGE player has 53 games on her. That is not a cause for alarm and NOT an indicator that she is broken.

high win rate as in 54% or higher

Also, I said it's an indicator, it's currently just the best visible metric to give an indiciation of how a champion is performing, you just can't ignore these numbers.

WEll the quote was taken from someone saying Caitlyn has a "High" win rate. Which was 52%, which isn't high at all.

How doesn't it? That mean more new players are jumping on and there winning more!

Because people aren't quoting "new players" but OP gg. It's only a problem if the said champion has a skillfloor. For something like annie, I could first time her in ranked without any problems as long as I've learned how to position myself.

No let's talk zed Zed if everyone but his main drop him his winrate going to rise right? If a ton of new players/ players that haven't played him for months picking him up it will drop right

Caitlyn has a 46% win-rate for new players. So no new players are not winning more.

And For mains. Also go to 10-15 games not 1

Guy Fox Teemo1 votes

That is 10-15 games and having a 50% win rate is perfectly normal what? Caitlyn isn't a hard champion to pick up and 10-15 games is enough to learn any champion decently.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

It's only clear if the said champion has an actual skillfloor, like Yasuo, Vayne, Lee etc.

For something with virtually no skillfloor like yi it doesn't mean shit.

It doesn't really though because all 3 of those champions you listed have lower then 50% winrates on new players. But the champions you listed are INSANELY popular, so most people who play them anyway are already semi experienced players.

So a 50-52% winrate is perfectly justifiable. (If were just using that statistic, other matters come into hand)

I wasn't saying if they were OP or not, I was just mentioning them.

Context is the key to statistics. Lurking variables and etc etc can be present for all we know.
