Why does the new Shiv not proc on gangplank's barrels? did it ever? Am I just very confused?

Because I swear the old Shiv triggered when he shot a barrel before and added to the damage, but it doesn't work at all anymore. Did it ever work or am I just completely wrong and delusional?

i dont think it ever did. shiv fell out of his build ever since the rework came out.
