Same for champion buffs which people revolted against, they want the most Flashy of champions to be popular so it looks good to watch on worlds. Nobody wants to watch a Nasus in worlds because it aint good $$$$.
As for Mordekaiser, he has no skins to sell, he isn't "flashy" as Fiora. So their concern for the people is a big fat 0.

You have all that my empathy can spare, and I sympathize with your position and pain. I didn't like him, but that doesn't mean I actually wanted him to be removed like he was, or even at all. Yet, he was. Unless this title change is reverted, the Morde we once knew is gone, completely and utterly. His core function is no longer what it once was, his core identity has been removed and shifted; even his core strengths were changed. They left nothing in the wake of this, save the names of the abilities being named after various Metal staples, and even then they now no longer fit in or make sense. They unceremoniously removed him in a way that no one asked for, and then they expected you guys to actually put up with it, and further modifications from his original design.
Cassiopeia, for all her rework was loathed, at least kept some of her actual playstyle from before the rework, and didn't competely 100% remove any semblance of her previous identity, nerfed though it was and now is. This update did pretty much exactly that for Mordekaiser. That's abominable and loathsome.
My apology is nothing on their actions, for I had no hand in it, but: I am sorry for this whole ordeal. The only good to come of this is to get to read the posts of someone who can properly lay out the pain and anguish felt by Mordekaiser mains for this who can put into words the problems of this whole deal better than most. I will most likely never touch Mord again now. The amount of times that we have been ignored, the amount of times we have been told that Mord will have support after the rework, the amount of times that a Rioter has said they will "keep a close eye on him" as well as "we want to do this right for the Mord players", and never coming through is just too much at this point.
It was fun playing Mord, but I guess good things come to an end at some point. It is very scary that Riot is destroying a champion for the extremely small playerbase for him, pop into one or two threads and then disappear and ignore us. It really does look like Riot does not care about him as the amount of people who play him is too small of a group to put any effort into.

Not only did they completely change an existing champion, they didn't even give his kit the quality of update they've been giving the newer champs. They seriously just slapped on a "hit enemy 3 times" and 2 free passives that give him an unnecessary extra source of power.

I'm a little surprised and saddened by how Riot is treating Morde. I don't play him, but he is iconic in the sense that we know who he is and the potential danger he has always posed. He always broke the 4th wall, always seemed aware of every advantage he could take, and even the Twisted Treeline altars know he's bad news. It's almost as if none of the past Mordekaiser matters to Riot. It's almost as if Riot doesn't care that we care, OR AT LEAST IT FEELS THAT WAY.
How many more threads and protests are we going to need in order to inform Riot that we want our Metal Man to stay Metal and retain the only identity he has left? They already vastly changed his role and his kit; they've made him effectively a different champion.
Why do they have to do this change given everything else they have already done? Who is calling the shots on these changes and why do they keep acting like they are making SERIOUS considerations when it's obvious the players who care are not being considered?

Do you think anyone will touch new Mordekaiser once he inevitably get nerf-hammered after world? That's playing op champion. Yet old Morde, with all his deficiencies and flaws, still has alot of players who play him simply because they enjoy Mordekaiser's theme and antic and gameplay, and half of that charm comes with how metal, both physically and metaphorically, Morde is. So now Riot killed that off, released the most uninspired title and a half-ass op kit that will only get player because it is op and no one will touch him after the inevitable nerf
