1% crit chance is toxic for the game

Ahristocats··143 votes·8,908 views

But Tryndamere getting 10% crit chance with 1/3 of his fury bar, and managing to crit you twice in a row is totally fine in 2016 and will still be fine in 2017

"outplayed"

more like "out-rng'ed"

Tryndamere is a problem champion. That's why he gets nerfed whenever he becomes prominent.

Ahristocats33 votes

tryndamere was never good since 2012

in 2011 he got a rework to make him less oppressive in the early stage of the game fury instead of %crit depending on missing hp" in 2012 his utility got nerfed, he used to remove 100 AD from people then in 2013/2014 he was nerfed because he became a good split pusher and he became good because people abused the AP build

he needs a rework since a centuary and riot still didn't do anything.

Ralanr25 votes

Don't forget the introduction of warlords. He was one of the two main crit champions that abused the hell out of it.

Ahristocats21 votes

but it was warlord being broken not trynd.

trynd kit is unhealthy, but trynd wasn't good himself (without being abused by splitpusher/ap build) since 2012.

proof is that in 2012 he used to be picked in competition, and then nothing.

Ralanr3 votes

Probably because there were better splitpushers or the meta shifted away from splitpushing.

Ahristocats4 votes

you mean before 2012? cause in 2013/2014, his splitpushing power got nerfed.

Ralanr3 votes

I meant after.

Sorry, I have trouble seeing any reason why Riot would allow Tryndamere's current kit to be viable.

I have trouble seeing any reason why Riot would allow Tryndamere's current kit to be viable.

mostly because it shouldn't. It doesn't matter if trynd is viable or not, his kit is still obnoxious for 2 reasons: -his RNG crit -his ulti being abused to splitpush, arriving at towers, then ignoring people with uti and hit the tower while suiciding multiple time to get objectives (this is what happened around 2013/2014)

Ralanr7 votes

Agreed. He needs a rework.

Come little noobies and sit by the noob fire and let me tell you alittle story.

Long time ago before Yasuo was born. Tryndamere was the fear that gave one team an unfair advantage because of who he was. So in truth Tryndamere is the baby daddy to Yasuo so that both teams can have a crit monster.

I know all your noobies out there cry and whine cause Tryndamere is so oppressive. But if they rework Tryndamere to not be the crit monster he is that means the champ that you do love Yasuo would have to be rework too so there would be balance in the game from the removal of crit monsters.

Now just sit back and think about the lives of 2 champs you want to end before you cry more about the 1 champ you hate.

Ralanr12 votes

You act as if I think crit is something I actually enjoy in this game.

It isn't. At all. I fully support trying to rework heavily crit based champions. Jhin can at least get away with it by making his 4th shot just a damage amp (course the rest of his passive will need a rework).

So if your only defense of not changing Tryndamere is because it effects Yasuo, well that's an argument in support of the change IMO.

FattyPainBringer6 votes

It's ok little mage. I know you hate the fact you have cool downs and you cant run around chunking 1/3 of someone's hp bar at a whim.

But see what you dont understand little mage is that ad based champs cant reach the power levels that you can with just their autos alone. So if you want to turn all the ad champs in to mages that do physical dmg with all the armor pen they need to make your armor useless then we should take out crit so Tryndamere can hit you for what you hit him for and chunk you in 2 hits instead of three

"his" rng crit? I think you mean him having ACCESS to more rng crit earlier. Every adc ever builds crit, but you aren't complaining about any of them.

its like it almost makes up for him being mediocre and nothing but a split pushing robot.

i swear, people hate all unique champion characteristics. you all want to play champions eerily similar to every other one.
you want nothing unique.

take away every passive from every champ, will that make you happy? cool, you now have a q damage, w, steroid/utility e cc/dash.

fun game you guys envision. no wonder riot doesnt listen to the community.

6Sfool6 votes

The whole issue with low crit chance is that it can potentially double your damage, despite the fact that it should only increase it by 10%. Winning a duel that you should have lost because you critted 3 times in a row on 10% crit chance is cheap. Riot tries to make up for it by changing the crit chance per attack based on whether the last few hits critted, but that isn't a fix. If they want to buff Trynd by giving him guaranteed crits in certain circumstances that's fine, or just increase his ad or as.

JedenVojak4 votes

It's not cheap, simply because of all the times he "should have critted you" with 30% crit but gets 15 autos and sees no crits. You see where it works out for him, but you ignore all the circumstances where it does nothing.

This thread is suffering from too much confirmation bias.

6Sfool5 votes

It's pretty obvious that it goes the other way too. 90% crit is like saying that there is a 10% chance that the attack does not work as well as expected, but this is a late game problem where other factors have a bigger effect. I'm not salty because I lost a duel to a trynd recently, I just understand that League is not a gambling game. The thoughts that go into your mind before you duel a champ should be whether they are fed, or are counterbuilding you, or are within reach of their allies, or if they have their ult up. Not whether crit chance will lean in your favor. Don't use me as evidence to prove a circlejerk, I try to be objective.

this happens when you don't read the thread

i'm talking about tryndamere.

Deep Terror Nami11 votes

They are talking about small amounts of early game crit in general in that post, but specifically mentioned working it out of Runes. They agree that it's unhealthy, so may be likely they would look at Trynd too, which was my point. I didn't have enough time to write more between the match I was queued for when posting that.

Azure Hamster8 votes

As a game designer, I don't put randomized crits in my games. They feel unfair when the RNG flakes out, as they are wont to do.

Riot never said they agree with Tryndamere's passive. In fact, they probably grouped it with the low crit chance problem.

how is 1% crit toxic?

Catastrop6 votes

Because 1% pops up more often than you'd think, you want a way to cheese your laner? Run 1% crit, doesn't matter who you're playing.

I'm a support player and i Run 1% crit on Lulu Support. When it happens, i always laugh. It is pretty stupid. xD

Crit chance is Pseudo-random. Meaning the longer you go without getting a Crit the more likely you are to get one. So on a champ like Tryn, who needs a minions kill or Crit to get his snowball going, he can now get a free Crit to start that off rather than having to build up CS.

AttackOnTeemos7 votes

I can't tell what people complain about more, It's either Trynamere is useless, or he is broken, or range champs in top lane >_>.

Emerald Fang8 votes

Yeah but it's ridiculously unfair. Riot says that low crit chances early in the game are cancerous and they're going to remove crit runes or something. Tryn has random crit built-in early. This makes Tryn have early-game power, mid-game power, and even some late-game (because he's basically Master Yi without the MS).

xBushx6 votes

Run 2% it immediately raises your chances and running 3% is NOT efficient. But 2% IS broken. I have got 3 crits in a row. Also if you do your whole Red side camp as JG and DON"T crit ONE mob.

Go to lane because you WILL hit a crit and get the easiest most #outplayed kill ever. With a free flash.

Speedphoenix6 votes

they should change the way crit chance works: if you have 20% crit chance, every 5 autos you crit, if you have 50% crit change 1 out of 2 crits etc you have a buff that indicates when your next auto will crit, and you get to adjust your trades along that etc... it opens to more strategy

make him switch to his other arm.

Why is trynda such a problem? He is predictable .....if he would be so OP as you claim we could see him on ranked and normal games much more ..... if something needs to be nerfed it is mobility creep , but in the other hand EVERYTHING CAN BE COUNTERED :)

Because people in bronze say he is OP, therefore, he is OP >_> League Logic 101.

Okay not going to get baited into an obviously uninformed "debate", but couldn't resist the urge to say:

"Nobody is calling Tryn OP. They're calling him annoying, poorly designed, and in need of a rework to become an actually interesting and/or healthy champion"

Crit does not belong in a skill-based game at all. Exactly like dodge.

Last time i played against a Tryndamere i got crit 3 times in a row at lvl 2. He even ignited me to begin with which would have been a waste had he not triple crit me. Its almost like he knew T_T

The entire conversation is about the fact that Tryndamere does nothing but fish for crits for the first few levels.

Seems relevant to notice that Randuins cannot be bought at level 1.

Tbh I hate Yasuo more than Tryndamere. At least with Trynd you can say "I was just unlucky". With Yas, it's more like "fk 100 percent crit chance"
