This season's meta is easily the worst one of all

Hibeki··24 votes·1,236 views

-On hit effects are so abusable some champs roles were designed around them. You no longer trade attack speed for damage, you can now build attack speed and abuse on hit effects to do MORE damage than someone building damage. On hit effects broken this season

-Mage supports are cancer in every aspect, Karma, Zyra, Brand, etc can all one shot a carry with nothing but frostfang

-Snowball meta means that unless the enemy throws it's highly unlikely you'll come back from a 7-0 kill count game.

-Little to no variety in jungle, any potential candidates for a strong jungle are nerfed before they actually get strong

-Tanks live less than 10 seconds in fights, tank stats completely useless and are obliterated by 'marksman'

-So many cancer marksmans, and despite this, assassin's still getting nerfed

-Korean armor pen build, duskblade being used on ADC's despite Riot saying they would nerf it if this happened.

-Several champions lack relevant counterplay and aren't even being touched, or BUFFED even

-Towers die so ridiculously quickly and were made even more squishy with the fortification nerfs (I've seen towers die at 6-7 minutes)

Anything else I missed?

Basically, you win by snowballing as a high damage dealing fighter, then after building one or two offense items, you build tank and you outpace their gold income with your own, so their damage to you stays the same the whole game.

So for example: Play Jarvan, Snowball like fuck, build AD item and Bc, then straight tank. You deal a huge amount of damage and their damage to you remains the same the entire game. Jarvan isn't op at all, it's this meta.

"i jumped in 1v5 and got instakilled"-every tank player (as a mage/tank player) no to mention 10 seconds is a long as time.

Tank stats ARE totally useless. Building purely tank for the sake of building tank gets you nowhere, building your offense kit that has defense tagged onto it is not useless.

Example: Building Warmogs and Randuins first two items is terrible, building Black Cleaver and Sunfire is not.

Marshbouy6 votes

are you telling me building pure tank makes it so you deal no damage? MY MIND IS FUCKING BLOWN.

He tried to say, " Building tank but having no damage makes no sense in season6, what makes sense is having damage but also little tankiness, anyway you will die in a second so at least take someone with you to the afterlife)

Why are you trying to speak about balance in this game when you have no idea how to play? lmfao looking at your build gave me cancer you dont even understand how to play your most played champion

I don't know which one you are talking about, but lets start with Jhin and hecarim.

Jhin's build that I used was primarily Crit based. I don't have confidence in my team, so going fo a more Reliable build rather than a snowball based build is 100% more consistent. Rushing infinity edge empowers your already existing crit (Allowing you to kill pretty much anyone at 1/3rd hp) and gives you an extra crit on your rotation. Armor pen build you HAVE to snowball for it to work. 30 flat armor pen means nothing if the team is stacking armor.

And hecarim, this is a pretty common build. I mean, Trinity force and the AD item allow you to do upwards of 70% of your opponents health in one hit, and the Steraks is to give you increased survivability, the extra damage on trinity force, and health because you're building tank after that. Then you either build Spirit Visage or Brawler's Plate next depending on what you are facing, and then you build the one you didnt.

Both of them are pretty normal builds.

ForgiveColour2 votes

Nopeee you dont even have >50% winrate for your most played champion. Why are you talking like you know any balance for this game lmao

I started playing very early season 2, and It was fun because damage was low enough in items and stats that it gave you a chance to outplay your opponent. For the most parts fights lasted long enough for you to get GASP A SECOND ABILITY ROTATION?

Seriously, the fights in this game are so fucking short that if you mess up for a second you lose. It's not about capitalizing on mistakes or positioning anymore, it's literally just mash abilities, one shot them, and hope you dont die

Ikr? back when i first started in pre s3, we were at 30 mins.

adc gets cuaght and the enemy team collapses on us, we fight it out i get a ww quadra and its me n fizz left(he had grevious wounds on w back then mf too i belive)i somehow manage my mana enough to get a q of and need one more auto to get penta, by that time the adc was there and took it....

tl:dr was about a minute long fight.

CeexSett2 votes

Season 2 was fun except for tank junglers and supports.

Supports had to use90% of their gold on wards, and the the rest on MAYBE mikaels or locket if the adc was gracefull enough to give them a wave of farm. That's why Zyra and Sona were the best support, their ability to oneshot carries was still there, even with 10 green wards and boots.

Tank junglers were just CC bots. If you think nowadays tanks don't deal any damage then you weren't there in Seaosn 2. Tank junglers who actually saw play were the likes of Nautilus, because he could still lock someone down with only a locket (which was the only item they could afford to build.

Don't be that delusional of how heavenly Season 2 was. It had some big flaws.

because it´s consistently going downhill from S2 onwards... though so far every season had some good points aswell, just not S6.

Great, you summarized the complaints of Boards members over the past 4 months that usually fall flat in practice, are not true at all, or were only true for about 1-2 patches. I'm feeling up so let's look into these complaints.

-On hit effects are so abusable some champs roles were designed around them. You no longer trade attack speed for damage, you can now build attack speed and abuse on hit effects to do MORE damage than someone building damage. On hit effects broken this season

Yes, that's because there was, in fact, an entire Jungle item made around them at one time. That is no longer the case but, usually, attack speed builds that only build attack speed and critical strike are terrible, so people build on-hit effects so that they use them more frequently. Also, on-hit effects were only broken for a few patches when Sated Devourer was first released.

-Mage supports are cancer in every aspect, Karma, Zyra, Brand, etc can all one shot a carry with nothing but frostfang

Well, champions that bring little Supportive aspects to the Support role better be bringing damage since they aren't shielding or healing as much as other Caster Supports. Karma is the only Hybrid Mage/Support that might truly have an issue, but she is in a weird state right now where Riot is having trouble balancing her. All the other Mage Supports aren't that bad.

-Snowball meta means that unless the enemy throws it's highly unlikely you'll come back from a 7-0 kill count game.

If you are giving 7 kills away without the opponent dying once, shouldn't that opponent be rewarded? "Oh he just got 7 kills and didn't die once, it's unfair for him to be rewarded so much in a game where there are, in fact, rewards for getting ahead." I guess every meta is a Snowball Meta if a Snowball Meta is taking advantage of a lead.

-Little to no variety in jungle, any potential candidates for a strong jungle are nerfed before they actually get strong

OH I WONDER WHY, BOARDS! WHY CAN'T ANY JUNGLE VARIETY HAPPEN!? IT'S NOT LIKE ALL JUNGLERS THAT BECOME VIABLE ARE COMPLAINED ABOUT!

-Tanks live less than 10 seconds in fights, tank stats completely useless and are obliterated by 'marksman'

This is true. If you dive head first into a fight as a Tank with little back up, you will die in less than 10 seconds.

-So many cancer marksmans, and despite this, assassin's still getting nerfed

You really have a bone to pick with Marksman don't you? Mind explaining further?

-Korean armor pen build, duskblade being used on ADC's despite Riot saying they would nerf it if this happened.

They already discussed nerfs to Ghostblade and Duskblade on these Boards actually.

-Several champions lack relevant counterplay and aren't even being touched, or BUFFED even

Which ones?

-Towers die so ridiculously quickly and were made even more squishy with the fortification nerfs (I've seen towers die at 6-7 minutes)

Towers die earlier because there is more incentive to kill them now that there is Tower First Blood gold. They have actually gained more defenses than past Seasons.

As a Karma main, I agree with what you have to say about her. When Karma deals damage to squishies without building any (such as with a utility build), something has probably gone wrong. The fact that this damage has been around for probably years is unbelievable! And she's known better for her shielding, which was thankfully nerfed a bit weeks ago (much to my dismay lol.)

Somewhat out of topic: The fact that out of all the mage supports he lists, he lists Karma first. It scares me and reminds me that my main has finally hit the mainstream through competitive and is bound to be hit with change after change. Oh dear.

MunchCrunchLunch3 votes

less than 10 seconds? you mean less than 5 seconds. I just a full tank reksai die in 2-3 seconds against an 80% ap team while stacking good mr and armor. nothing works anymore.

I don't particularly miss Azir. I played him and thought he was fun to play as, but was not fun at all to play against.

He's another one of those champs where the idea just can't simply fit into this game without being underwhelming or overwhelming, like Yasuo.

Azir's problem is Rylai but Yasuo's kit is toxic.Probably you don't like perma slow.Remember Cassiopeia.Same situation.Remember Viktor ult.Same situation.Vlad is other problem. He is very tanky and he makes very high damage.

I think Azirs problem is the burst damage on top of the Zoning. I do think getting hit several times by a soldier should hurt, but it shouldn't be a third of your health with an Auto, Q, Auto.

If Azir had a ramp up on attacks on champions it would be great. Each time you are hit by a soldier you take additional damage from them, but it starts off slow.

The problem with the Assassin meta was that they were the only ones with mobility at the time.

Now everyone does. Honestly, even if Kassadin had every change reverted, he wouldn't be a problem in this meta.

Timewinder3 votes
  1. If you don't think he would be a problem, then why would you suggest that the meta is bad? Clearly that means there are counters to the most ridiculous of champions (S3-4 Kass)

  2. If you think Kassadin wouldn't be a problem in ANY meta we've had so far you are delusional.

Requiemsfire2 votes

I doubt they were the only ones with a form of mobility but most people talk about Kassadin with no counterplay because he would teleport behind you and you wouldn't even be able to flash, stun, snare or blink thanks to his silence and would just ultimately die.

From my knowledge the top assassins at the time were Zed, Ahri, Fizz and Kassadin.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, no. 2 second point and click burst silence and his E used to deal 270 damage with it's slow. R was about the same as well. Q did about 240 damage. I don't think you understand how amazing he was.

No, I do, I was around for it. Those damages are nothing compared to today.

Well... doesn't Kassadin need a buff? The way he should be is an anti-mage, but right now he's a weaker zed.

Meep Man1 votes

Never said anything about his current state, just saying he does not need to be where he was before.

Meep Man1 votes

It was pretty easy to predict who would be meta during that time actually.

Kassadin reigns supreme, then gets his silence removed Talon reigns supreme, then gets his silence removed Leblanc reigns not as supreme but pretty supreme, then gets her silence removed

Requiemsfire4 votes

Talon reigns supreme, then gets his silence removed<

Always overshadowed by Zed item 3070

Requiemsfire1 votes

That pun was unintentional.....

Meep Man1 votes

No, Talon had his time. His E used to silence for 1.5 seconds and he became a god for a short amount of time. Back then Zed wasn't able to reactivate R to return to where he was before he ulted and he was a lot less safe to use.

Requiemsfire1 votes

According to http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/V1.0.0.151 he had the ability to switch with his ultimate since his release o3o

Edit: OHHH I see, his ult shadow didn't appear where he used to be standing.

Meep Man1 votes

Yeah it used to just appear behind his target.

Requiemsfire1 votes

I think the main reason why Zed has always been picked over Talon is due to the fact that Zed typically has a more reliable laning phase and a great roamer due to his W. To put it simply Talon has no escapes so he's far easier to shut down as opposed to a mobile champion in competitive play at least although I will submit that Talon is a much stronger snowballer once he gets rolling. I do love playing Talon as one of my personal favourite mids.

Meep Man1 votes

Yeah the only reason Talon was picked back then is because the silence made it almost impossible to react to him at all. You just accepted death. Zed is similar, but there is more options to react to Zed.

At least on-hit is viable now. I remember when "on-hit X" was literally always a troll build just because of how bad the items for it were, and even champs like Kayle and WW with huge amounts of on-hit synergy weren't being built on-hit. In this meta (or a recent version of it) people were able to take on-hit Tristana and Kog'maw into the LCS and have success; if a champion who has an ability to double the number of hits they do can't be built on-hit and be viable, who really can?

I think the main problem with on-hit effects currently is that they eliminate the trade off.

So many champions that abuse onhit effects currently have unbelievably disgusting ones. Max health and scaling true damage are not healthy on hit effects for champions to have, as it gives an uncounterable amount of damage due to an other amount of items.

Having Max Health and Current Health on hit on any item is totally bonkers. It totally eliminates the trade off of building damage vs attack speed against squishy targets, and allows you to destroy tanks just as fast, it's not healthy.

CeexSett1 votes

What any item has Max health and current health?

You forgot riot nerfs versatility for the sake of 'strategic diversity', burying the game in more stale repetition.
