I'll go ahead and say it, FUCK RNG IN A COMPETITIVE ONLINE GAME.
Fuck you
Fuck you
Fuck you {Kleptomacy}
Also fuck you {DRAKES}
Fuck you
Fuck you
Fuck you {Kleptomacy}
Also fuck you {DRAKES}
I popped into this thread expecting you to say something about dragons.
XD
Drags, at least IMO, aren't a bad example of this, as while they are RNG, players on both teams will see what drag it is going to be and will be able to fight over it. So while it is RNG, all players have agency over whether or not they can go for the drag.
The other RNG cases are horrible examples of implementing RNG, because neither player gets agency over what comes up. Neither Tryn nor his target know whether he will crit, or if he will crit 1/2/3 times in a row at level 2-3. Zoe doesnt know what summoner spell she will pick up from a minion. Klepto users don't know what item they will get from a klepto proc
So in those examples, RNG is bad because no player, even the player who the RNG originates from, doesn't have agency over what RNG will effect
dota2 has far more (real) rng than LoL ever did and it's got way more competitive value than LoL does
Thats because Dota 2 has much more baseline depth in the game than League. Dota 2 has:
Theres just so many more baseline things you gotta learn and take advantage of in Dota 2.

Gameplay is more strategic in dota2... The map in lol is very small and is easy to see who will win like 10 min. in. Btw, I don't see DOTA as that better, bounties are way bigger and there are buyback buttons. Lol is less forgiving.

Dirty truth is that RNG often helps. Hell, DOTA even has competitive RNG picking because (last I checked anyways) you can random a character and get bonus gold to start with. While not common, it can throw a team for a loop positively or negatively. RNG, when done well (such as Drakes) changes how you play and cause deeper strategic gameplay.
Problem is people don't want an actually strategically minded game where you have to think on your feet and adjust your strategy. They want an "I win" macro they can spam until the enemy nexus falls. Do X Y Z. Perform A B C. If Successful Win. If Not Successful lose.
RIGHT CLICK INTENSIFIES
while the rest is true there is no rng to trnd other than crit chance and in that case you have to include most all champs who build crit
The free crit chance is precisely what makes him RNG. Fighting him early could lead to you being crit three times in a row out of nowhere and suddenly you have to give up the lane simply because you got unlucky and he got lucky and you're missing quite a lot of HP.
With marksmen it's been toned down since a lot of them end up with 100% crit by the end of a game and Stormrazor guarantees a crit.
Its a pain to fight him early...you simply dont know if you win or lose..you might jump on him and get insta critted...well there goes 1/4 of your hp...
As a Tryn main, if you can't read our level 2 cheese, you deserve to lose to our 47% win rate champ.

Crit IS RNG.
And yes, Crit fucking sucks.
Crit is the reason why we have Stormrazor and True Damage on Infinity Edge.
And everyone just loves Stormrazor and True Damage, don't they?
Don't forget
Plants Scuttle
Plants and scuttle are actually not rng, they have spawn times and respawn times.
That by definition cannot be a randomly generated number
their locations?
those are also not random, they have a set spawn location, time, and a respawn time! the more you know
Plant are as random as Blue Buff. They always spawn in the same locations, with a set initial spawn time, and a set respawn timer. The only thing that makes it "random" is you don't know if it's been cleared or not.

The Powerball lottery is actually not random, gravity has a well-known rate at the contest location.
That by definition cannot be random
sure, that has total relevance to me trying to help someone

Don't forget
Plants Scuttle
They aren't random
Meanwhile DOTA2 has a less stagnant meta environment.
scuttler's timer is way too low (and also forces you to estimate instead of a direct timer pressing Tab) to be considered not RNG
dragon spawns are also RNG
In the TF2 community its a meme now to say, "remove random crits". Imagine how they feel about RNG
Random crits aren't enabled in competitive last I checked, only casual games.
They'll remove Tryndamere crit strike mechanic and replace it with true damage (just like they did with IE).
Fully agree, but why do you leave out the bigges offender? Crit is the by far biggest source of RNG in the game, and it's by far not restricted to Tryn...
and then there's pro hearthstone tournaments where you can win or lose literally due to RNG
