Sona and the problems with her early game heal

Can Riot please do something about how god awful this ability is in the early game. The cost of this spell is painfully high in the early game, 80 mana to do an "amazing" 30 points of healing. (yes i am aware it heals two targets so the amount is "doubled") this amount is not enough to save your ally, or yourself if either of you get engaged on, and the cost is so high that you can't cast it more then a few times without running totally out of mana. Add to this the 10 second cooldown this spell has and you often will have to hold it in the blind hope that the one time you can cast it will be enough to turn the tide in a fight. You can't even really max the skill first for better numbers because the mana cost increase per rank and with the low base mana regen, you will run out of mana even quicker.

I would like to make it clear i'm not asking for Soraka levels of healing, with high base numbers and super low cooldowns, just enough of a boost to the skill that you aren't forced to pick up something like item 3174 just so you can afford to cast your heal more then 5-7 times in 2-3 minutes before going OOM. If we can't fix the mana cost could we at least boost the amount healed? Either by bumping the bonus heal back to 1% per 1% missing health, or boosting the raw numbers to a level where the heal actually feels impactful

I've gotten so fed up with her awful ability base stats that when I play Sona support I go troll build.

item 3303 item 2049 item 3158 item 3174 item 3089 sell spellthief item 3100 item 3135

if you can make it to full build and have good positioning it's op

i don't even troll build like this. unless my team is getting stomped and really needs me to build item 3190 item 3110 etc... she just makes so much more sense to build as an AP carry and do huge damage when you land a lich bane empowered Q powercord with 600-800 AP

For real. It's actually WORSE to use it really game, imo.

If your ADC isn't low on HP I use the heal mainly for the shield it gives. If you pay attention you can negate some damage and heal your ADC at the same time. It works better that way but it's still a shitty heal.

It has a shield, Sona isn't supposed to sit there and spam/max W when losing and just sit in lane. It got nerfed and given a shield for a reason, you should be using it to block damage.

If the shield lasted longer you might have something. As is though the numbers are horrible if you want to heal your ally/self after a fight. You are looking at probably blowing 3-5 heals to even get a semi decent amount of health back you are spending 240-400 mana to get something around 150-220 health.

Middle of combat the shield is pretty nice, but outside of combat it would be wonderful if i didn't feel punished for healing my teammates. Maybe do something as small as up the length of time the shield is up and then have a % of the shield revert to a heal when if falls off (hell limit it so that it only affects Sona and the ally hit by the base heal so she can't be doing 800+ team heals every 6-8 seconds in the late game.

Play Soraka if you want to heal.

might as well destroy every single heal in the game but Soraka's then, i mean play Soraka if you want to heal right? if a skill is underwhelming having someone else do that same thing "better" isn't an excuse to leave the skill feel underwhelming

It wouldn't feel so bad if Relic shield didn't accomplish the same thing for 0 mana + free gold on champions that were never designed to heal. It really devalues the healing aspects of sustain supports. The item is seriously broken. Not broken as in OP but broken in that it provides power that simply shouldn't exist. It the healing power would be shifted to something else, sustain supports would finally have their place back in the meta. Sona would probably benefit the most.
