The skill disparity in certain elos.

I remember reading one time that about 30% of the population is in bronze and silver, resulting in about 60% of the population being in the two lowest elos. Now Im not going to sit here and say the system is broken, because challenger kids can make multiple accounts and get to challenger no problem. I get that.

My issue is that the skill difference where I am, S4 at the moment, is so ridiculously huge it basically feels like a lottery to determine if you win or lose based on how competant your teammates are. People can keep a decent cs rate per minute, they can ward, they've learned the elusive skill of playing a lane safe if you fall behind so you dont end up hard feeding. Then you get people who have 30 cs at 25 minutes and facecheck bushes. The skill disparity is simply too big.

But my main point is this - I find myself plateauing in this game because I simply do not know what skills I lack because Im simply never exposed to them. If I could play against plat and diamonds then I'd have the luxury of getting dumpstered but I'd be able to say 'Oh, I see what they do different'. This isn't the case where I am however.

If I win a lane, it's usually because the other team is utterly incompetant that it's almost a joke winning. If I lose, its generally because someone else is just so bad and oblivious to the most fundamental aspects of the game and I'm unfortunately not at the point where I can hard carry them. If I get one out of 20 solo que games where both teams are competant, and at an equal skill level, it's insanely fun, and I don't mind losing those games. But as it seems now, 99% of games are determined in the first 10 minutes of laning. In a team game this situation feels extremely unfair.

It really shouldn't be like this. The system should be on a bell curve, which it isn't. Why it isn't is completely oblivious to me and makes no sense.

Again, my point is not Im here to QQ because the systems broken. I understand there are people who could join games in my elo and hard carry it with one hand. My problem is the skill gap in each division is so huge it seems almost impossible to figure out what should theoretically be my next step in mechanical progression in order to acquire the skills that would allow me to hard carry some of the dumb dumbs I get in my games.
