Seeing as Elise is actually a viable pick now and i enjoy playing her, i have a question. Mainly aiming towards those who are successful with her in ranked play (plat + pref but others are welcome to give input)

This may sound like a dumb/no brainer question.. Should I be getting item 2049 on Elise in the jungle? Every game? Some games? What games should or should i not? If im carrying hard: no? keep on damage? or yes even if you are carrying vision will always help. Like i said it sounds dumb because wards are obviously important... But in terms of actually CARRYING your team, should item 2049 be a core item when i'm playing her in the jungle?

I'm currently Silver 1. And I like to build her tanky such as: item 3709 item 3111 item 3116 item 3151 item 3102 item 3110 or : item 3709 item 3111 item 3116item 3143 item 3065 item 3026 Basically I would have sightstone till i was 6 slotted then i would probably swap it out. Thoughts?

sightstone isnt good for soloq on junglers really, it's more of a competitive team thing. Soloq is all about carrying and with sightstone you cant do it as well as It diminishes your dueling potential a lot. The two main ways to build her depend on the enemy team comp. If they have 0-1 tank, go cinderhulk. Since they are all pretty squishy, you dont need the extra damage from runeglaive. They won't be able to kill you but you'll still kill them. Cinderhulk into rylai then straight tank items. Her biggest strength has always been her damage while going tank. If they have more than 1 tank, runeglaive into liandrys torment with sorcboots is great for melting tanks in the front line

Sounds pretty good, I personally dont rly like runeglaive on Elise for the reason you mentioned (she does dmg even going tanky) If the idea behind runeglaive vs tanks is that they wont be doing as much dmg so u can get away with more dmg, cant i just get another dmg item like abyssal or something? and keep the cinderhulk?

you get runeglaive with the mpen items so instead of diving onto their backline, you just go right through their front line with your whole team

But why does your jungle item have to influence your team fighting strategy so much?

if you know how to play around vision sightstone is always a good thing to have, expecially in soloq when you know that 9/10 supports wonßt ward well and everyone else wonßt even upgrade their trinkets, so it´s very sensible to have at least one member of the team securing vision where it´s important (also, as elise relies on picks it´s really important to win out on vision).

playing around sightstone vision isnt going to make you do the damage you need to win the game. Get your damage items and buy wards instead or upgrade your yellow trinket. its just not as good in soloq

I haven't tried her in ranked too much if at all this season, but in the case that your team lacks a tank or needs more damage than what is available from the adc/mid/top, I wouldn't advise building Sightstone. Unless of course, you're confident in your ability to win through sheer picks early and snowball from that.

Dreadlocks1 votes

Well I like building her tanky anyways.. I guess essentially I delay a few stronger items for some extra early game vision. I'm looking to climb but I'm not really good enough to figure out whats more important.. Like i said im only silver 1.. And a lot of low elo players dont like to buy green wards so having 2 sightstones on the team creates a lot of vision. I personally like the vision... But like i said, idk if its worth sacrificing/delying a core item. =/

Or you could just upgrade your trinket and save the inventory slot item 3361

I agree, the trinket is just as good as long as you're not backing every minute to refresh SS wards, which is silly in all but the most specific situations (like switching from dragon pressure to baron pressure immediately)

I find sweeper way too good to pass up... between sweeper and rapture buff, i always know when the enemy sees me coming and i dont waste too much time sitting in a bush.

All In Forms1 votes

your first build is pretty much exactly how i build her, though if it were an LCS game they would build it on her every time. that being said soloqueue and ranked 5s are totally different animals. i usually choose my trink based on my team's trinks and whether or not the enemy supp/jungle have sightstones. if my top mid and ADC have the upgraded yellow trink i get sweeper, if not i get upgraded yellow trink.

Dreadlocks1 votes

So you wouldnt recommend SS then? Just get the Upg trinket? Do you run around with pink wards then? I feel at a slight disadvantage without a sweeper. More often than not my allies wont have a sweeper. (except support)

All In Forms1 votes

if i don't build sightstone on her and i upgrade sweeper i buy at least one ward every back, usually 2 or 3 as long as i have an item slot. and i always make sure i have a pink on the map somewhere and usually buy one specifically for dragon/baron if i think there will be a fight at either of those objectives in the near future.

Dreadlocks1 votes

Yeah thats kind of the reason i'm asking this.. If you dont include the health you get from sightstone, after buying 10-11 green wards, you will of spent enough the equivalent. So if on my first 2nd and 3rd back, i buy 2 greens thats already 6 wards.. which is over half of what sightstone would give you and you can refill.. Cost effective wise, wouldnt it just be better to buy a sightstone?

All In Forms1 votes

cost effectiveness that's correct, but stat wise its not that efficient compared to other items for her. but i build her focused more on being an AP bruiser type champ over a utility champ

Dreadlocks1 votes

why not both? _(ツ)_/

All In Forms1 votes

what item in your first build would you be willing to sacrifice for sight stone?

btw on your 2nd build switch GA for sightstone, rylai for liandry's and SV for locket and you pretty much have an LCS style build

Dreadlocks1 votes

Well i wouldnt really sacrifice an item.. i would more or less just be delaying them for vision. I personally Like Rylais on her more than Liandries. If the game were to go on long enough, i would probably purchase in this order (obv depending on if vs AD heavy or AP) item 3709 item 1001 item 2049 item 3111 or item 3020 item 3116 item 3110 item 3102 then swap SS for item 3151 unless i was ahead or vs a heavy AD comp i would get Liandries before BV

All In Forms1 votes

i personally usually go item 3709 (just the jungle upgrade, not the full hulk right off the bat) item 1001 item 3136 item 3709 then into rylai's/tank stats depending on how the game is going and finish my liandry's after rylai

Dreadlocks1 votes

I guess another way of asking is, does she really lose much getting one? Shes always relied on her base damages.. I would pretty much be sacrificing tankiness for vision which sightstone can kind of give.. Idk perhaps ill just need to mass elise games and buy sightstone every game and compare it to the games i didn't and see.

Only Play Darius1 votes

You don't. Just buy wards but you aren't the support. Vision control is not your primary objective.

All In Forms2 votes

i disagree with this, vision control is EVERYONE on the team's job. and early to mid game its mostly on the jungler since they aren't tied to a lane.

Angry Monster1 votes

HE said primary objective not that you should not help.

viable? she´s just really broken as it is...just don´t go tank on her.

Dreadlocks1 votes

I didn't even use the word Viable.. OFC shes viable...

Seeing as Elise is actually a viable pick now

just to quote you.

edit: and to be clear - she´s more than viable. Just give the pros 2-3weeks and we´re back to a lee/elise+assassin meta.

Dreadlocks1 votes

Alright so i used the word viable you got me lol, but she wasn't viable before this last patch..

except we won't be back to the lee/elise meta because Lee has been nerfed a lot since then. You know why the Lee/elise meta was a thing? Because at the time, Lee was the only champ who's early game was strong enough to deal with her. That won't be the case now

Only buy the sightstone when you have a team/enemy team that's heavily dependant on picking your allies off one by one. If your team relies on vision to control the game, sightstones a good early game buy all the way to late game. You're losing a good chunk of gold to get yourself an earlier item like runeglaive or Rylais (which works great with her right now) so you should consider your teams composition and theirs if you're going to need the sightstone.

TL;DR

If their team/your team relies on assassinations/picks for major plays, it's a good buy.

Otherwise, just upgrading a sight trinket to its greater status would just make much more sense, and save you an inventory slot that could be vital late-game.

Trinket upgrade would be way more appropriate than a sightstone as Elise jungle.

Seems like a lot of players in lower elo get picked off. So Although wards would help keep my team get picks, more importantly it'll keep my team from getting picked. Hahha. I'ma have to fool around with the upg trinket though.. Not sure how id like not having a sweeper. Thanks for the reply.

I think in higher elos It's better to get sightstone, since people in higher elos typically will abuse the extra vision a LOT more for various purposes.

Right now I think the best way to build Elise is just more of like a mage. item 3709 item 3151 item 3020 item 3135 item 3065 item 3143 It's enough damage to allow her to blow people up, but also gives her a fair amount of tankiness so she doesn't get blown up herself and also allows her to tank a bit of damage for the team.

Dreadlocks1 votes

Hmm, i should incorporate VoidStaff more. I think you make a very valid point.. Higher elos do know how to use vision to their advantage far more.

A Miss Fortune1 votes

Yeah, building Elise with a full penetration build without any defense is still scary, but if you mess up you can die instantly late game. In lower elos you can tell that building glass cannon won't really change anything at all, since people usually will just flee if you're fed or not organize to instakill you. However a good player will recognize "Hey, she no defensive items. Let's focus CC her and kill her for a free kill.".

item 3709 item 3151 item 3020 item 3135 item 3001 item 3285

Dreadlocks1 votes

That cinderhulk is a waste with only 1 HP item.. Better off with runeglaive at that point lol. But i agree and disagree with this to an extent.. yeah a lot of players will be like "oh shit hes fed run" a good example of this is a solid yasuo player whos fed. I think it just depends on the champion as to which can get away with a glass cannon build. Like, i would never go full dmg on lee sin in a ranked game.. It works time to time.. but holy shit is it risky AF lol

A Miss Fortune1 votes

I feel like someone like Cho'gath or Kalista could easily get away with a glass cannon build a lot of the time though, people who build a stronger offense to get a stronger defense in particular.
