darius has way better of everything bigger heal ,Q heals ,double passive , 25% max armor pen and always true dmg ult that reset also biggest hp in game with 100 hp / lvl gain instead of garen nerfed Q ,nerfed W ,nerfed movement speed and nerfed base hp ?
TheThundersRoar5 votesGaren is tankier and can reach the backline more easily, and Q-E-R is enough to kill an ADC who has no peel. He can also play better from behind.
Darius is typically played as a tanky AD who tries to get fed and kill everyone. Garen is typically played as a tank who dives the backline to shut them down.

The thing about Garen's healing is that it's out of combat healing. This is why, despite being pretty poor in team fights, Garen is also not a particularly amazing duelist either (unless the enemy is the Villain)
Sure, Tryndamere gets kited and abused in team fights but he at least can stomp almost every champion 1v1.
Garen is a worse duelist than Darius while also being worse at team fighting, while also having an arguably worse laning phase.
PermabannedGaren2 votesThere's never a particularly compelling reason to play Garen over Darius. Being much tankier and somewhat harder to kite does not negate Darius' other advantages. Garen isn't even particularly better while behind because of the Villain mechanic. Darius at least has CC to peel. A Garen that's behind is kited and killed before accomplishing anything.
