this ip weekend made me realise how low ip we usually get and how many things are to buy
runes/champions ,pages etc
you need like 1241241124ip and you get 200 at first win and 50 rest

Meanwhile im close to earning a god in smite just off of login rewards
One of the few great decisions made by Hi-Rez.
That and all the free stuff you can get in the Odyssey this year, too bad I quit.
But Rito can take some lessons from them. Hi-Rez makes way less than Riot and they give out outrageous amounts of free content.
And Smite's esports scene is a joke so they don't even get much cash from that.
too bad smite is terrible in my opinion. It cant even hold a candle to league
Watch some high elo streamers and you'll see they usually have several hundred thousand IP and don't even play every single champion. I dunno.

They've bought everything with RP already. Besides, they play for a living. How could endless hours of gaming not get you tons of ip?
Yes maybe they bought everything but they don't use everything. I dunno. Yeah play a lot.
Yeah, there is many high elo players with 3 rune pages and they manage. The grind is long to get all that you can purchase with IP, yes, but you can still function with just a few champs, and a few runes/pages just fine.
I am not a high elo streamer, I do not play for a living, and started around Season 3. I have all champions, 20 rune pages, and 62/98 of the tier3 rune sets (though I only use a combination of 23 different types of runes for my pages). Plus 10k or so IP just for whenever a new champ comes out.
Take it from me - there are a lot to buy, but you dont need them to rank up. You can give me 2 champions and 2 runepages and I would be fine for all my ranked games.

I never said you need many champs or pages to climb. I climbed with only 1 champ and 2 pages this season. I simply responded to the other guy's comment. Please stay on topic. Besides, it's not about having many champs to climb with but, many champs to have fun with.
Btw, you may be playing for only 3 seasons but, your games played each day may still be many. Other people dont have enough time. The grind required to buy champs/runes is huge and the reason it remains like that, is to force more casual players to use RP to obtain them. Simple as that.
The game costs money if you don't want to grind. Simple as that. Would be nice if other games were that way, eh? No more saving lunch money for those $50 games.
BTW let's say you play 2 games a day. About ohhh 250 ip each day (1st win + 50 ip a game). In a year you can get 91,250 ip. 365 days * 250 ip. That's a good amount and not counting bonuses like double, triple, etc ip, playing extra games, value from hextech crafting, gifts from Riot, gifts from others.
It's a grind. Don't get me wrong.
Some people are fine only having a few champions, too. More stuff doesn't mean more fun. We even get a new free champion rotation every week. Yeah it's not usable in ranked but not everyone plays ranked.

Please specify the words in my post that show me nagging for more ip! Now go hit your head against the wall.
Fine you didn't nag about ip but your head to wall comment was uncalled for.
Sorry about that...had a bad day. I'm kinda sick and tomorrow i'm having my last exams' tests. Soz for my bad mood, i take it back. I'd love to see people replying to what i wrote though. I love the grind in LoL and hate games that require zero effort. I used to be a tank player during the good old Lineage 2 days after all.
If you remember, the main topic was
runes/champions ,pages etc
you need like 1241241124ip and you get 200 at first win and 50 rest
Some guy said that some high elo streamers reach that easily. You said that they play for a living and buy everything with RP anyway. Im saying you dont need to reach it to be competitive. I dont see how thats off topic, as long as its relevant to the IP grind.
And theres nothing wrong with Riot making the grind huge. Unlocking all the runes, rune mages, and champions is part of the fun of the game. Its like getting the perfect team of Level 100 Pokemon - it takes hundreds of hours and is completely unnecessary, but thats part of the game.
It was off-topic in regard to my post. I never said anything or nagged about the ip being lacking to be competitive. I even answered back telling you that i required a very small amount of ip to play ranked this year. In no way did i ever mention that i would need more ip gains. I simply said that streamers accumulate insane amounts of ip due to long playing hours and not wasting them but, not because they are produced easily. I have no need for ip personally. So, why continue this talk?
Are you serious? How do you manage to have a conversation. Think of the chain of events and how it happened.
Someone posted a thread about how hard it is to get IP -----Someone else posted a comment about how pro streamers can make IP gains ----------You responded to that comment saying they pay money and play a lot -------------------I responded to you saying that you do NOT need to pay money to unlock everything, dont need to stream and play several hours each day, nor is it necessary to unlock everything.
I took the effort not only to respond not only to you, but to the threadstarter. You opened yourself up to a response about the thread in general by posting in the thread. It is by no means off topic - its actually more on topic to the thread than your post. Its called redirecting the conversation back to the point of the thread because you were starting to get off topic.
You dont get to respond to a thread then ask that your post be taken in isolation from the thread itself. Conversation doesnt occur in a vacuum.
Masteries are just annoying to deal with until you hit 30, but runes are their own problem.
If you don't have a perfect page for ranked, then you're just putting yourself at a disadvantage from the get-go, and not to mention rune pages are extremely expensive to make. Not only does buying another cost as much a champion, the runes themselves can cost like 10k+ PER PAGE, and further alienating newer players and accounts from being on an even playing field.
Rune pages are generally expensive, but I dont see the problem in that. Like I said - i got to where I am with mostly 2 champions and 2 runepages. Although I have 20 rune pages and 2/3 of all the possible runes unlocked, it wouldnt make a dent in my winrate whether I had 2 or 20 runepages.
It reminds me of that Zig Ziglar quote: "Money wont make you happy, but everybody wants to find out for themselves."
Same thing happened with me for runepages. I thought I needed to unlock every champion and have 20 runepages all specialized for different champions to put myself at the greatest advantage in ranked. After doing so, I realized that its not necessary - I perform best at one role and a couple champions in that role. And those 2 champs and 2 runepages are all I need to put myself at the greatest advantage.
It's just a quality of life change for new players, and for the game in general. Runes and rune pages should be free if they impact the early game as hard as they do in ranked.
not everyone has the luxury to play video games as a job
Then use the money from your job to buy RP for champions and such.
There are two ways to pay for this game: time and money.
RP is surprisingly expensive if you want to buy any substantial amount of anything.
I had to spend like 80 bucks to buy a handful of new champs, like, c'mon Rito.
Needless to say, I'm never using RP to buy champs again.
Daaang. One thing we don't get from buying champs strictly from IP, is sales.
is on sale for 487 RP. That's half off.
Buying Zac straight up without the sales will cost you 10$. 975 RP champs are bonkers expensive to buy.
200 ip from a 20 minute first win of the day game.
6300 / 200 = 30
30 days (a single game a day) to reach 6300 ip.
30 games * 20 minutes = 600 minutes to reach that ip.
600 minutes is 10 hours. 600 / 60 = 10
About 10 hours of work for $10.
Yeah that's a lot. May be more worth it to get a minimum wage job and skip lunch one or two days....
I dunno.
It's basically the price of two $5 foot longs.
Would be cool if we could split our payment between ip and RP. Spend like 3k ip and whatever the rest in RP would be.

it's definitely not 20 minutes per game. Queue time is at least 5 minutes to even get into champ select, another 5 mins for champ select, and then the average game length is closer to 30-35 minutes. That doesn't include dodges/remakes. It's closer to 20-25 hours.
I was talking co-op vs. AI. I should have said. Queue times and games for that are around 20 minutes.
You may not get 200 ip but it's very close. Like 180-200 ip. The math won't change that drastically. Play an extra few games one weekend.
11.66 hours for 6300 ip, winning 180 ip a day from 20 minute or less co-op vs AI games.
I don't know where you queue for 5 minutes but it doesn't happen to me in ARAM or co-op vs AI, and those games are usually around 20 minutes. ARAM a little more sometimes.
Also I think those 30-35 minute games on SR versus people end up giving more ip too? I don't know how much. Probably not much.
Either way, it's a bullshit amount of time for a SINGULAR champion.
I disagree. The game is free. Nobody is entitled to anything.
However, I wouldn't mind price reductions. Gotta catch 'em all.
Make every champ cost 1000 IP, but keep the IP earnings the same, except for FWotD.
Their job is to play 100 games a day. Of course they have tons of IP. Normal people can't do that.
"Normal people" can but it takes more time if they only play a game a day.
"Normal people" can spend money on RP.
ikr, almost 1h in game for 80~ ip, what a jk...
Fun fact: This is our 1ST AND PROB LAST IP weekend of the year, iirc we had none last year.
I remember a crap ton last year for people playing with friends and maybe the pool party
Yeah but think about how much you learned from nearly an hour of playing. Now you can go to your next game with a lot of experience.
I bought a 1-day IP boost to make it feel like I'm actually accomplishing much for playing a bunch today.
Also runes + rune pages!
dude im agree dat ip gain are fking too low but u cant play 10 games and buy a 6300 champ or full runes ; IP are gained progressivelly
if u have heimer or aurelion i propose u to farm IP in coop vs ia afk with em " just stay behine gromp wall and ur champ ll aggro auto so u cant be afk)
its rly good do it when u dont play or when u watch a video evrytime u dont play lol U LL BE RICH ^^^^^^^GL HF
yeah, man. I'm straight up grinding out as many games as I can because if I do, I might be able to buy a champion by the end of the weekend.
IP gains are pathetic. New players are forced to choose between runes and champions, which should never be an issue.
Back at the times it was because with IP you could unlock your own collection - they envisioned the game this way. Also it served as a training mechanic, where you could unlock slowly all the stuff into the game without loading immediately the player with many notions.
Besides there were not that many champions, so you had tons of spare Ip for runes i guess... and that enforced a bit of money spending, since they were very poor and champions were one of their initial gains xD
But now? Hell yeah i agree. Especially now that they are edging some champions and making them more unique. Plus since they have tons of skins now i guess they gain more by letting players have more champions so they can buy more skins than else, but that' s just my guess.
what bugs me is champion are so expensive, prices keeps going up and it takes hunderds?! of games to buy a single champion...
Low IP you say?
That feeling when you have 140K IP and nothign to spend it on.
