How does Zilean feel about Ekko?
"Back in my day, we didn't need to cram every safety net into one champion."
Always will be the legitimate time champion. Not this
abomination.

Honestly, Ekko feels more time related game mechanics wise, but Zilean is all like "b*tch please, I can see the past and the future and vel'koz wants my delicious info and volibear can go die like the rest of his bears."
Zilean is da bomb.
Zilean IS Ekko.
Zilean IS Ekko.
Exactly how did he get so old that he turned white?
EDIT: Maybe it's some sort of Temporal disease?

It's all coming together now!!
Zil is a magnificently balanced champ. Personally, one of my favorite supports and he can be fun mid too.

I disagree. They made his bombs a matter of your opponent blundering, not a matter of you landing them. They can be extremely difficult to land even after slowing with E because they often just stop and turn and kill you. Also, I feel that his passive is extremely useless.
However, he is overall extremely fun, and I think has a lot of potential.
Well, didn't it used to be a point-and-click ability to land his bombs? To me, a slightly newer Zil, what is now seems more fair than what was. I feel like his passive could be up'd to maybe 10% to make it a little more terrifying for your lane opponents, but I see what you mean. 8% is hardly anything to get excited about.
And I agree again, he does have loads of potential. More than once I've completely turned a team fight around with either a well placed stun or ult.

Yes, his bombs were targeted. His bombs power wasn't just in their scaling, it was that they were guaranteed damage. It's also his only damaging ability. They did need to make them a skillshot, but they didn't need to make them a horribly unreliable skillshot, and then nerf the damage too because reasons.
They simply underestimated how much of a nerf removing his bomb reliability was. Imagine, for example, playing an ADC that has crazy damage but has to aim every auto attack. I guess the closest thing I can imagine is draven.
But instead of returning to normal auto attacks when not using his axes, imagine if draven was 100% incapable of auto attacking if he dropped his axes. He just had to walk around for a bit.
I know that's a stretched example, but that'd make him somewhat like current Zilean. Miss his bombs, which they made very unreliable (except perhaps in very low ranked matches), and you have to run away and hide for awhile, since your damaging abilities are gone.
Keep in mind his horrendous mana costs, too, even after they were reduced. He's encouraged to cast like so: E himself Q enemy W Rewind E enemy Q enemy
That's 5 abilities you're supposed to combo for a chance at maybe getting your basic damage combo off. And you can hardly use it anyway because, again, his mana costs are horrendous. You would want to go Athene's for the CDR but you need to go Tear for the max mana. In reality, you end up needing to build both, and have very little damage as a trade-off. You're essentially playing support Zilean mid at that point.
And keep in mind we're talking about unreliability against enemies who are just plain walking. Imagine trying to land them against someone like Leblanc or Nidalee.
Oh, and by the way...his passive used to be global. It affected his entire team.
If I recall correctly, when they made it only local, he got zero compensation buffs.
well, his Q has less instant confirm now but the stun and area zoning really put pressure on opponents, not to mention he's one of the only high damage supports (soraka can do a lot of poke damage early but falls off later; chogath is chogath; thresh gets one hit and can't revive a teammate; etc) if anything, the 60 second cooldown on his ult helps keep a team alive because of the huge heal and kill denial. If his ult was global, it would be op
you're right back in his day you just had to pick zil and the entire enemy team couldn't fight you in lanephase cause you always had a level advantage at any point in the game just by existing.

That's not even remotely true
you're right zils passive wasnt global not too long ago.
how could I be so wrong.
ekko is zilean but he did the michael jackson.
404 lore not found.
Well, Ekko has an ult to save him, a dash, and a stun.
Zilean has a stun, an ult, and a 99% speed boost.
well actually, zilean seems to deal more with energy than time for some reason. He slows (decreases energy) and speeds up (increases energy). His bomb literally has nothing to do with time other than being a "time" bomb and his ultimate is essentially a heal designed to trigger upon taking the right amount of damage (death)
it's also hard to consider how "time" works as a weapon for league. Ekko can assassinate
zilean can somehow heal someone when they would have died or as anyone would put it, turned back time in a limited area or something, but doesn't make much sense
if they removed his oppressive positioning with his bombs, he could probably have viability as a support that could lower ally cooldowns and somehow "interfere" with time
I like zilean because opponents who can't all in just get zoned by his bombs, but his theme is very hard to place
