Should kill indicators on execute abilities be a thing?

Some abilities like Zed ult, Garen ult, etc have kill indicators that will show them exactly when to R. IMO it takes the skill out of using them, It feels like the game is just holding their hands at this point.

It doesn't show zed when to r, it shows him when the damage will kill. Two completely different things. It's not a "press r to kill now" it's a, "yepp they're gonna die." and while you might still have a problem with that, it's something entirely different.

I disagree there should be a generic answer to that question, it's all dependent on context.

For Garen or Cho'Gath, I think it's fair. Darius hasn't one, and I think it's the right decision. Zed has one, and I think he shouldn't.

  • Garen's is only for the Villain. Garen is supposed to be incredibly strong against the Villain, so he has an "unfair" advantage, but only temporarily against this guy, it's ok.
  • Cho'Gath absolutely needs to kill his targets to get the increased HP. If he misses, he need to wait 80 more seconds. It's good for him to have this indicator for not wasting his CD.
  • On the other hand, if Darius doesn't miss, he can chain kills and execute a whole team, so if he had the safety of an indicator on top of that, it would be much too strong. If he misses, he just doesn't get the possibility to chain ults, but he already got the full benefit of his ult on his primary target.
  • Zed, given his very safe possibilities to get out, shouldn't have this indicator to give him the optimal time to get out on top of that.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. basically, the definition "execute" means that it scales on enemy missing health so that ability should only be used to, well, execute the enemy as it then unfolds its full potential.

tho since basically all abilities that deal high single target damage are classified "executes" by the LCS casters and rito, i would say just fuck that concept alltogether. having indicators for that just makes it way too easy. could just make it so that if you are near a champion you can kill with one of your target-spells, you automatically cast it.

It makes sense when it's true damage. Or in the case when it's zed, because of how he can go back to shadow.

Cho'gath actually has one too. They get a red indicator when your ult will instantly kill them.

On either extremely obvious things (True damage) or extremely difficult things (DoT for example), sure, but when the champion is balanced by the fact relying on that ability too much can be dangerous (Zed ulti shouldn't kill 100% because you know when enough is enough, it should encourage you to stay in longer to get more damage, as there is always the risk of not dealing enough for a kill), I think there shouldn't be.

darius doesn't have a kill indicator, it's his passive

and yes, we kind of need to know how many bleed stacks someone has
