Why was katarina buffed

I understand her early game was "weak" but she still has a blink, cooldown resets, massive damage on her ult, massive aoe damage, and can snowball a game really hard. if you just tell me "oh well beat her out in lane then its gg" you are lying. i went 2/0 to a katarina in lane and she came back incredibly hard and was able to melt my team with her ults and abilities. Im tired of riot buffing champions because they "arent played in high elo" (E.G. xin) because it isnt always about the high elo. 80% of the playerbase is in bronze/silver/unranked (maybe more i dont know the stats) They should think about how its going to effect low elo. NOT EVERYONE KNOWS HOW TO PEEL.

Because Katarina was weak, she's was not in a good spot, and just listing her abilities doesn't change that.

"They should think about how its going to effect low elo." And how on Earth could Riot even do that? Any champion can roll over a Bronze game. Even if it was a good idea, it's pretty much impossible to "consider impact" on low elo as well.

it is possible to consider impact on low elo games. when i hear about a certain champion getting buffed, i know there is gonna be a shitstorm following those buffs. doesnt mean i deserve to be a rioter, but it does mean that pointlessly buffing xin is VER CLEARLY going to go bad in low elo

Kat wasn't good and post-buff she's still not stomping Bronze and Silver. The buff was needed and has caused no harm.

So what? One game doesn't indicate a balance issue. I've seen Kat's be non-factors since her buff but that doesn't mean she's shit.

Then I dread to think how bad the players in your games must be. Even when Kat was at her strongest she never stomped every game because her performance varies so heavily based on who she's against.

Regarding "low ELOs matter too!", Riot's point of view is that nerfing people for being too strong in low ELO is something that should only be done in extreme cases, because if you're losing to a noobstomper then it's... your fault for being a noob. If something is broken in Diamond then it's likely just too strong but if you're being stomped by Kat when nobody else is then... you need to practice playing against her. Don't ask for champion nerfs because you're not good enough to succeed against them.

does that mean they should let champions like yi just be able to snowball the shit out of everything? not really. the game isnt always about high elo and how they feel, if a champ is genuinely toxic and ruining low elo it should get nerfed

Yi is exceptionally strong regardless of what ELO you're in right now. His Plat+ stats significantly outstrip those of Kat and most champions, really.

And just because some champions do well against bad players doesn't mean they're toxic. When you describe people like Kat and Yi as "toxic" and "ruining low ELO" then it just sounds like you're trying to get Riot to get rid of them so that you don't need to put effort into beating them. And they shouldn't do that.

That's not what I'm saying, what I'm saying is they need some level of rework in order to be less keysmash or incredibly snowbally. I'm not asking them to just be removed, I'm asking for counter play to be put into there kit so kat can't q e w r rinse and repeat to a quadra kill from her cool down resets.

kat was never in a bad state she just has every other champion released countering her but from the time she shit stomped everyone to now this has been the only significant buff or nerf

Ult damage nerfed
Ult cooldown nerfed
Voracity window cut massively
Gutted health regen
Nerfed base health
Shunpo base damage and scaling nerfed
Grievous Wounds nerf on ult

Yeah, nothing major happened to Kat between now and when she was strong.

yea, riot said it was for the weak early game but that was what made her somewhat balanced. people dont know how to peel and shut them down low elo but riot doesnt really care, they just want a larger champ pool in high elo. god i kinda hate riot

If Riot thought about low elo constantly, Yi, Kat, Blitzcrank, and Yasuo wouldn't exist. All while buffing the hell out of moderately high skill cap champions and making ADCs tanky.

Yet the Katarina buffs aren't scary at all. It's an ability to give her the mobility that she lacks in regards to other assassins. It still tickles every target hit and makes everything she does extremely telegraphed. She's the only assassin in the current meta that's actually high risk, high reward.

Ever played against literally every other mid lane assassin? Zed, LeBlanc, and Fizz can all do more than that with significantly more safety. Not to mention they all have more all-in potential pre-6 and much stronger pick potential post-6.

assassins as a whole arnt healthy fun to play yea but they dont fit with the rest of the game and cause they didnt riot came out with the marksmen changes and now you have the adc and assassin game and the rest of league of legends

when you can do the same thing to a no defensive item adc to a tank with 4 of his 6 defensive items stacked toward your damage type (physical and armor) and the other 2 providing health on top of defense with only a 3 second at most difference id say thats not healthy adc after ripping those people to shreads got an excape tool still not used on 80% of assassins to get out after they did their dirty work

If a tank is taking that much damage from an assassin there's an issue in their rune+mastery and build.

If your team isn't peeling an assassin off there's an issue in your team.

Assassins have a place in meta while counterable but still able to curve games in their favor. This is by far the most balanced assassins will ever be. Not too weak, not too strong.
