Morde Q heals him for 1/3 of the amount with Gunblade

Ahristocats··46 votes·2,785 views

Because it would be too strong if he gets the entire amount

what about Draven Q with item 3812 that also has 550 range?

make it 1/3 just like morde Q

Or, make Morde's Q AOE. It's only fair.

you mean like it was always meant to be? when QWE were all AOE, and his skills actually had synergy with his passive?

MunchCrunchLunch3 votes

yeah . it would totally be not op to do like 2k damage with 3 aoe autos. just make it heal fully.

Orianna

H-hey, but Orianna takes a ton of skill. It's not like her combo is literally QWR to instadelete you and your team...

Hyperiön5 votes

Orianna is actually one of the more difficult mages.

When you break it down like that it makes her look easy, which she isn't.

Ori can't just 1v1 anyone with the slightest of mobility.

  1. Her Q travels slower than almost all skill shots.
  2. If people wait to use their dash until they see Ori ult, there is a lot of her dmg gone.

And since her E doesn't really do anything except shield (and a very little shield at that). She only has 2 combat spells.

Bob the Toastr2 votes

2?? Did you forget about her W? Her buffered W during her Q? Her bread and butter?

DaNinad1 votes

Her r and w have similar damages

Lol. Only if you can't hit her skillshots on them.

  1. Her Q travels slower than almost all skill shots.

Not true. Not to mention it's on such a low cooldown, and it can come from all directions.

  1. If people wait to use their dash until they see Ori ult, there is a lot of her dmg gone.

Many mages she plays against don't have a dash, so a good QWR=flash or dead.

And since her E doesn't really do anything except shield (and a very little shield at that). She only has 2 combat spells.

Actually, if you knew how to use her, you would realize that's bs. It deals damage to enemies it passes through when you use E. If you're smart, you can deal even more damage with it.

Her shield, even if you hit it through someone deals peanut damage.

AoE three hit? Hell no

As a note, it used to be AoE. But Morde would be hella unstoppable if he ever got ahead with AoE Q.

TheHappyReaperz1 votes

What about making it single target when striking champions, but AOE when striking minions. Gives Morde some better split-pushing ability, without being over the top in team fights.

Or rather AoE around whoever he hits, except that AoE only hurts minions. The way you worded it is a little too complex and could either be buggy or abused, say if you're stacked with teammates on him, and there's also a minion there, he hits the minion and AoE's you all.

well, that expains why i found Gunblade to be rather underwhelming for morde since the rework... The reasoning(if thats the official one) is pretty bullshit aswell. He needs to get 3 AAs of in melee range with no mobillity at all, that certainly is an issue. Ezreal getting full lifesteal from 1krange on his Q or cait healing +50% of her hp if she headshots a minion with BT is totally fine, but if an imobile melee gets some solid health back after 3 consecutive AAs, THAT really is an issue....[slayer-jinx-unamused]

It's not so much that it'd be unbalanced if Morde received full healing from Q, but rather that it's just coded that way.

that means it was hardcoded because his Q isn't an AoE spell by design. That or they didn't remove the AoE logic when reworking his Q, which is just as bad lol

50000000000000001 votes

yeah it's still bad, but we gotta know exactly why it's bad

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

His old Q was AoE. They left it coded like the old Q, but now it is a single target for each amped AA (but you can still hit 3 enemies for each Q)

Maybe it was kept this way to negate big healing when hid w and R already give him fat heals.

Sad hue

In other news, Gunblade and DD stack and is OP on Morde with stormraiders, I can imagine bloodlust too.

Off meta theory craft builds OP

Winterwings1 votes

My thought behind it is because the spell counts as a three-part spell (READ - Multiple Hits) Riot probably intentionally left the 1/3 penalty on it... Or maybe they just forgot about it which wouldn't be the first time xD

Junkο1 votes

The real reasoning is most likely that it works like that because Q used to be AoE, but spaghetti code stops them from changing it's interaction with spellvamp now.

Morde's rework is just totally fucking weird honestly. I think his abilities have good flow like they had, but the power is all over the place. I think if you cut some of this weird random power you wouldn't have inconsistencies like his Q counting as an AoE for healing.

Bob the Toastr3 votes

I liked his rework better when his Q bonus damage was x1, x3, x9 instead of x3, x3, x6. That third hit was SO juicy.

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

The title and main point of your post is to complain about Morde. If you want to complain about Draven, complain about Draven. Dont complain about Morde, make shade at Draven, the come back saying the entire point isnt to complain about Morde. Any logical individual would notice that Morde is the anomaly. Want to make things fair? Give Morde the full vamp on his Q.

Death's Dance gives 15% vamp of all single target physical damage. Draven's Q adds on single target physical damage to his autoattack. Draven is working as intended.

Making a bunch of expcetions to Death's Dance is stupid - the item would have to say something like, "UNIQUE: Instantly heal for 15% of all physical damage dealt. Area of effect physical damage only heals 5% for every unit affected. Except for autoattack enhancers like Draven's Q or Vayne's Q, which will be given the 5% heal like area of effect physical damage even though its single target. Except that doesnt apply for autoattack enhancers like Nasus' Q or Trundle's Q, because reasons. Exceptions to the exceptions - spells that count as autoattacks like Ezreal Q and Gangplank Q."

See how convoluted things get when you start making exceptions? The better design is to either say Deaths Dance is too powerful and nerf that item or say Draven is too powerful and nerf Draven.

Leonerdo3 votes

Please put more effort into your posts. You weren't very specific, so I can't even tell if your suggestion is garbage or not. Also, I would argue that Morde's Q is the one that's in the wrong spot. (Seriously, why is it counted as AoE).

But the gist of your suggestion isn't terrible. It might make sense for the bonus damage from Draven's Q (not the whole AA) to have less lifesteal. Just so that Draven's early game power doesn't spike so hard with just level 5 and a Vamp Scepter.

junglerboy163 votes

No, it heals him for 1/3rd amount because of spaghetti code tied to his old Q ability where it was an AoE ability that dealt crit damage vs a single target.

It should heal him for full vamp values, it's just too broken on the coding side to be worth the time it takes to fix.

ModAcademy Kayn3 votes

I'm still fairly certain someone did some hella math to disprove this in a similar thread, but yeah, I agree with the other guy that if anything, Morde would be the one changed, not Draven.

Critmaster Garen2 votes

ya, mordes q not healing for the full amount just doesnt make sense. its an odd mechanic.

Rewt1 votes

uhhh. im pretty sure morde Q heals for the full 15%. Now his W and E are AOE so they are reduced.

Ahristocats10 votes

check again then

Rewt2 votes

Well even if it does heal for 33% that would be because its a 3 part ability. So over the course of the whole ability it would give 100%. (99 if you wanna be specific)

Now if we look at any other champion who has a 1 use Auto attack enhancer they get the full benefit. Draven's Q is a 1 hit auto enhancer. It doesnt have to hit you multiple times to get its use out.

Also we need to look at how Gunblade works on ALL damage while Deaths Dance works on Physical damage only.

While I do think that Deaths Dance is too strong of an item. Arbitrarily gutting the effectiveness of an item on one champion is just not the way to go.

NA math? XD?

it doesn't matter if it hits 3 times even if it hits 3 times it heals for 33% of the effectiveness

https://i.gyazo.com/b9a9c79c996206a2a811d29a3fda82fd.png

Since all 3 hits are reduced, the outcome is still 33%, i don't know how NA learns math, but if you reduce all 3 hits by 33% it's not going to be 100% in the end but still 33%

example: 1st hit hits for 100 damage, same for 2nd, and 3rd 200 damage reduce all 3 of them by 33% and it heals for 33, 33, 66

33+33+66=132 which is 33% of 400(100+100+200)

Wait, since when does gunblade heal for 33% of damage? It heals for 5% of the damage done because that's 33% of 15% damage into health?

And when you do your math, are you including the health gained from the physical portion of Morde's Q? Morde's Q is considered on-hit, which is why it can't crit, so take 45% of his basic attacks swings, then 15% from his total on-hit damage, and then what do you have?

It would give 100% healing, out of 300% tho.
