Some polarising champions are JUST NOT FUN under any conditions.

Some players are so deluded (Riven and Yasuo are prime examples) and will usually feed with their stupid over-aggressive plays at level 3. They never wait, they never play calmly in order to get a few items first. Its always the same with them, they either get an early lead and then become unstoppable (which is JUST NOT A FUN GAME, even if I'm on the winning side) or they feed.

These champions are just not fun to play with OR against. They actually make the game feel boring as they either become hypercarries or they suck and we lose and this is actually what is putting me off League today. There is way too much reward for getting early kills that it basically determines the entire game and towers are just TOO WEAK... STILL (I play supports like Soraka so if my team starts feeding, I'm fucked and there is nothing I can do to win the game).

I just hate champions like Riven and Yasuo because they are just totally polarising, either they are too good or too bad and there is absolutely NO middle ground with them. They also give delusions of grandeur to most people playing them and that makes them even more frustrating to play with.

I would like the game to have some degree of balance so that some champions do not become either 1-hit ko powerhouses or trash. Why can't there be something in the middle?

Sometimes, I don't actually want to win if there is a champion or player like that on my team. It just makes the game non-challenging and boring, if they get ahead.

Well i personally find those champs FUN to play against. As there is always action, challenge, ways to outplay them (or with them). More fun than playing boring farming game between 2 mages or 2 tanky top laners. I wish more champs were like that

Sorry but i'm gonna have to cut in on this debate because too many issues exist for champions like Riven and Yasuo, but mostly Yasuo since he went uncontested in having any actual changes for bug fixes for easily a few seasons which led to his insane power creep that allowed him to become 'Tank Yasuo' that they finally had to make some changes with 'ACTUAL' impact to his kit such as forcing his identity to be a champion who has to build Critical hit or lose the majority of his kit's potential. Sadly even for his standard build it does not eliminate his late game potential, but it at least makes his early game starting at level 6 a bit more tolerable since he can't outright shred you if he goes Top lane against a Tank'ish, champion.

Part of the initial issue i have first seen as the first sign to alot of champions being 'OP' starts off with differences, such as how Riven , Yasuo , Zed , Akali and even Kennen at times being the lack of a traditional Mana bar in favor of having no resource or a 'energy' resource instead. This would not be the deciding factor, but it leads to part of the tower's foundation that leads to part of the frustration, namely by them trying to constantly bait the opponent to waste 'Mana' to try and trade back against them whenever those champions 'trade' and it just turns into the same situation as going up against Heimerdinger , Azir, Swain and Vladimir :

They basically bully you and sometimes have measures to easily sustain themselves so they can get the lead in CS with less draw back because they can't be screwed over by running out of Mana. As for this leading further, it can become 'fun' to have an actual challenge, but when champions like Yasuo who has no physical limit to his E dashing or he can just waste his Q tornado without any really repercussion punishment for missing since it can go thru minions and doesn't really stop once it hits the 'first' champion, it lets him be a constant lane bully with easy large rewards if he can land it then proceed to use R and no cost to make use of it.

-Kennen can pull this too with his ability to free stun and his kit instead of putting his 'easy to stun the crap out of a target', especially against a group thru his R on a cool down period, he can just stun the target constantly even with a diminished stun duration. Meaning he literally becomes one of the only champions that can chain stun a target by himself.

-Akali though she can easily screw herself over if she screws up her combo, its still not a surprise that just like Leblanc and Katarina that she can utterly burst destroy you with a easy combo especially at her level 6, plus she builds hybrid and she can jump on you multiple times that are even more then Le'Blanc's so its even more difficult to 'counter her out' because she can sometimes even burst thru even minor Armor/Magic resist still with ease or just HP padding.

-Riven basically gets one of the best niches as a Fighter/Assassin who instead is more of a Fighter/Tank who can especially make use of her kit to where i sometimes feels like she's like a Juggernaut in her own right since she has plenty of ways to dish out damage, her lack of a resource bar lets her rush CD items like item 3071 and even has 2 ways to CC a target and she can weave all her abilities between her passive to deal enhanced Auto hits, making it usually a bad idea to trade up close with her, but if she has to chase you then likely she has to waste her E and even her Q combo to have a chance to gap close which could ruin part of her damage even if she stacked up to 3 enhanced Auto hits to help her dish out alot of damage to you if she can even stay on top of you long enough to auto hit you that many times.

-Zed you can pretty much say he is at least the most 'tame' of the list i'd say, he can most certainly play the Lane bully but he at least telegraphs his attacks alot better so unless he can catch you by surprise, can react much faster then your reaction time or even have more savy measures, he can at least be traded against fairly well and if he wastes time trying to lane fight you then he would waste his chance to farm CS and his own 'gimmicks' doesn't grant him easy measures to 'keep' recovering energy fast, unlike Akali who only needs to Q mark and Auto hit while Kennen can just Stun 'anything' in general or use his E to just Ghost run thru a bunch of targets to regain energy by hitting the first one and lead to a chain of stuns after. Zed on the other hand has to rely on double hitting targets with his W's shadow and himself thru his Q and E which at least forces him to either use it to help lane farm or attempt to get a lucky hit for lots of damage and energy restoration, which can easily be 'dodged' for the most part on what he has to even at least only be damage by one of the 2 doing damage(or in the case of his E, enhancing the slow it puts on the enemy).

At the very least it would be nice of more measures are put into place for 'Energy' champions to follow a similar gag to Zed where they have to rely on a particular ability to 'restore' energy or even perform a combo, then have measures to pull it off with insane ease, especially if it is one particular ability (Akali's Q) that would normally get stacked first anyway for its other effects (the enhanced damage on consuming the mark) that tends to give the champion part of why that champion is able to 'snowball' melt enemy laners if they don't play extremely safe at all.

The champions you mentioned like Riven and Yasuo have their Cons.

Yasuo's only con is he doesn't have an extra 1000 HP just cause.

This is exactly the response I expected and meanwhile, while you are doing your "plays", which may or may not work out for you and your team. I'm busy having to make up for your fuck ups because you think you are better then you are.

The thing I mostly agree with is that early kills mean way too much.

I had a game as ADC yesterday where my support died for free at level 1 during the first wave. I'm now zoned off of CS for 2 waves until she makes it back to lane, and have an xp disadvantage. Even dodging bard's stun, all he has to do is tag me with a slow from his auto and I'm taking a face-full of damage from MF, who post-first-back is a full BF sword ahead of me for the remainder of the laning phase.

That game actually made me realize why ADCs rage at their supports for their mistakes, because my team started getting mad at me (a 2/8 Jinx), but I never would have had the problems in the first place if my support didn't wreck my lane at level 1 (not to mention our Amumu jungle obviously doesn't gank pre-6 but their jungler came twice to make sure MF snowballed her lead).

Same goes for top and mid lane. A death at level 1 (or 2) often puts you so far back in xp and items (proportionally) that you're pretty much done-for. All you can hope to do is CS under tower or from range and that they can't dive you. You need jungle help to get you level (even a failed gank that forces them to back can let you catch up in CS and xp and be able to survive the lane), or them to make a bad roam play. If they get jungle help though, it's GGWP. A tower dive when a 7+ creep wave is about to crash your turret denies so much more xp that you're at a 2-3 level disadvantage and even farther behind in items.

Top and mid though, I kind of accept it. It's 100% of the time your fault that you die in a 1v1 in those lanes. It bugs me so much bot lane though - because even if your partner messes up you suffer the consequences.

Once people hit level 4 or 5 a death isn't that big of a deal. It typically comes from a gank so resources were used for it and the reward was split. You typically have enough for your first core component by that point that there isn't a huge item disparity. Anything before that though seems to snowball way too hard. There's not anything inherently wrong with champions that are designed to play that way (I mean, just relax and wait until you're level 5 or 6 to start being willing to fight them), but yea it just feels too punishing when there's an early death. Like why does a single kill at 2-3min count for so much more than a single kill at 20+ min?

Are you kidding? You can feed all game with yasuo and still be strong and carry with 2 items.

In higher elo, they aren't as polarizing. You'll find that there is middle ground, when the people who are really good at Yas/Riven face those who actually know how to play against them. That being said, Riven is supposed to be a high-risk/high-reward type champion, who snowballs an advantage very quickly. Yasuo, on the other hand, is not as good at pushing a lead as Riven is.
