Help the Shadow Isles: How do we deal with Jax top?

CupcakeTrap··1 votes·763 views

So I'm fighting for the Shadow Isles in Factions. We're currently in a bit of a bind, due to our lack of a traditional ADC, but we're making some headway.

Our biggest problem: top lane, particularly against Bilgewater, which has recently recruited Jax.

Any advice for how to deal with Jax top? Here's the roster we're working with: Elise|Evelynn|Fiddlesticks|Hecarim|Karthus|Mordekaiser|Nocturne|Thresh|Yorick|Urgot Elise Evelynn Fiddlesticks Hecarim Karthus Mordekaiser Nocturne Thresh Yorick Urgot

So what tips would you give for someone playing Morde or Yorick top vs. Jax?

Ward up, push lane against Jax's tower. Morde should be hitting Jax every time with E. Take MrPen for reds and quints, E damage will be very effective at pushing Jax out. If he recalls, you recall too. Get wards and HP pots / revolver, come back, keep Jax under tower while avoiding ganks. Jax at level 6 should not be a problem since he needs to straight up engage on you or risk taking a siphon every last hit, and morde can just buff up on his shield with a siphon hit on most of the minion wave. Jax will have a hard time getting to win trades imo, while Morde can farm and harass at the same time.

I don't have as much for Yorick.

will he be removed when kalista becomes public?

Probably not because of the nature of factions. From what I understand Kalista would have to join SI though a lore event, and because Urgot is already signed up for SI for him to leave randomly would be weird. But perhaps the next arch Kalista will be the adc.

Nah. Kalista will just become recruitable, and I'm pretty sure SI will vote to grab her first chance they get.

Well, and he's undead. And there are some vague SI/Noxus ties. He wasn't one of their starting Champions; they picked him up mid-arc. (Part of Factions is each faction deciding which Champions they want to pick up as the arc progresses.)

Yorick is probably your best choice.
I would recommend: Masteries - 21/9/0 Runes - AD Marks, Armor Quints, MR Glyphs, Scaling Health Seals Item Build: Crystalline Flask + Potions, Tear of the Goddess, Ninja Tabi, Manamune, Iceborn Gauntlet, Spirit Visage, Randuin's Omen Skill Order: EQEWER, R>E>Q>W Summoner Spells: [Ignite or Teleport], [Flash or Ghost]

When he is CSing early game, autoattack him when possible and use E on him during trades to heal. At level 2, use AA-Q-AA to harass him and save E for when you need to heal. You do not want to use W that often early because it costs quite a bit of mana. You don't necessarily need an early kill and you shouldn't waste mana for it, but harass him low enough that he misses CS and has trouble approaching the wave.

Very important, you DO NOT want to push the wave early because that exposes you to ganks and you don't have the mana to sustain ranged harass if he's under tower. You want to freeze the wave near your side and bully him away from CS while you last hit. Don't be afraid to use your ghouls or yourself to stop the minion wave from reaching your tower (you can heal with E after).

By your first back, you should have enough for Tear of the Goddess. If you have extra money, I would recommend buying Doran's Shield to survive if you are having trouble, Doran's Blade you are even and want damage, or Boots of Speed if you are ahead significantly and want to kite and chase Jax.

Later in the game, when Jax has some levels and items, you don't want to fight him straight up. He will likely outdamage you in a straightforward fight. You want to take advantage of your slows (W and Iceborn), movement speed (Q), and sustain (E) to draw out fights. Instead of standing nearby autoattacking him, use your ghouls on him, hit him with Q and Sheen, and then back away. You can draw out an engagement this way, giving his passive stacks time to drop, allowing you to heal, and letting your Q and E come off cooldown. If he ever tries to all-in you with a slow or his ultimate, drop your ghouls and run if at all possible.

I'll share this around on /r/LeagueFactions and the forums. I know SI is trying to upgrade their strats. Thanks!

i used to main jax

Go hard at him early game. Gank him VERY frequently early game. Don't let him farm. Keep him from getting bork as long as possible. Don't let him auto-attack. He can E, Q, E, to hop on you and stun you, this means his engage is instant. So always be aware. Focus him if he builds squishy.
