Hey Riot maybe focus on the majority of your players instead of E-Sports

You know the 99.99% of people playing your game? How about you cater to them instead of literally focusing all your energy on E-Sports at the expense of most players.

This season has been awful for reasons already discussed to death yet you wait until the end of the season to say you're going to do something about it and even then we have to wait until NEXT YEAR because of Worlds and Playoffs. Im sorry but this is a pretty shitty way to run your game.

Your playerbase is on the decline, which is a fact not just doom and bloom. Your company claims to be a 'player focused company' meanwhile most of your players are second class citizens who have to deal with the shitty state of your game for LITERALLY A YEAR because E-Sports players that consist of less than 1% of the playerbase cant have their meta disturbed.

That's probably why they're losing players. https://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/riot-strained-relationship-tencent-declining-players-mobile-games-information-32079

I don't disagree with balancing around pro play necessarily, but some of these changes, like trying to buff champions into proplay Yasuo Zed, is just bad decision making either way you cut it.

I think riot losing player is because of a multitude of factors.

  1. The rise of battle royales
  2. Overwatch
  3. Reworks that delete champs people main and love.
  4. The game is getting old and some of the original players are now adults who are too busy to play.
  5. Balance issues.
  6. A lot of people don't play just one game and league can get lost in the shuffle.
  7. Not enough new content (I'm not counting reworks as new content)
  8. Skins are getting more expensive and fewer are made, they might make more money individually but fewer skins means riot is less likely to make a skin for a champ I'll spend money on.
  9. League fatigue. It's easy to get burned out and you kind of have to dedicate yourself to it.

Competition in the industry is always going to be there I think, but when I look at a game like Diablo 2, I tend to discount the effect of 'fatigue'. There are people will play this game until they die if its around to be played. Keeping the game fresh doesn't mean you have to rewrite the game to be an Overwatch or PUBG clone. Just be a good league game, and offer an alternative that's reliably fun and focuses on those aspects that league does best. No one game is going to capture 100% of the market because people are so different. With that, not everyone can be king of the hill, that's why there are so many hills.

How are they focusing on E-Sports when the pro players don't actually like the changes either?

Come on man, don't just copy what some other guy said, make your own lines.

There's a few holes in that argument.

There's a few reasons why they focus on Pro Play. Much of it is because of how much money they do make from pro play; but another HUGE factor is that the pro-players, as well as High Diamond and above players, actually understand the game best. They know the numbers and play those numbers to the best degree possible; so going by their word is usually the most effective way to adjusting the game accordingly.

HOWEVER, with that being said, you do have a point; most of the player base IS below the line...but they aren't also the most informed ABOUT the game. When you cater to that demographic specifically then it can turn really bad, really fast.

What would you suggest they do? Balance for gold players?

Low ELOs will never be balanced or fair no matter how much effort is put into it, better for only one side of the scale to be a mess instead of both sides.
