It's not the end of the world, but you can't deny a certain amount of "favoritism" in balance. Popular champions who are suddenly struggling get buffs in a patch or two (same for the opposite case), while ~~older~~ other champions need to wait a whole season before they get any changes live (because you do say you try things out but they unfortunately don't work the way you want them to so the champion just gets no changes instead).

Edit: To clarify, I'm not saying you're doing it deliberately. It's just the way your radar works.

It's more of a "problem champion" vs. "popular champion" thing. Like, Rek'Sai is pretty new and she hasn't gotten any help lately. And Aatrox was a "problem champion" for a long time before he got his mini-update.

It is favoritism, but not in the way you're thinking; it's favoritism as in they favor whatever champs are most profitable.

Lee has always made a lot of money (A Rioter actually said that Riot knows Lee is broken, but they won't nerf him because of his "Contribution to competitive" (AKA, he makes money)), Lux has an ultimate skin now, Ahri has always made money, same with Yas / Riven / Vayne... so, yes, there is definitely favoritism, but it's based on who makes money.

I would argue that if someone likes a skin, theyll buy it. I hardly see this issue brought up with this theory.

But i dont see Meta sheeps who play whoever is good that patch also BUY SKINS for whoever is good at that time. Cause they know it wont be long before they never play that champ again.

It's not champs that are FOTM for a patch, it's champs that are FOTM for months or more at a time (Graves, Lee, Jhin, Varus, MF, Ashe, Ahri, etc.).

Coincidentally (not), these champs become FOTM shortly before or after a skin is released for them, and Riot, who knows that the champ is FOTM, hypes up the skin release a lot so that all the kiddies playing the champ will want to buy skins for it. This is also another reason why Riot spends so long updating champ models, because a lot of the reworks / new champs look fine or even good in their base skin -- while older champs need a skin to look good at all.

Now, even if a champ isn't getting a new skin, people still buy skins for that champ regardless because people are vain little fucks that have to look good in front of others in order to feel complete.

I don't disagree, but this also only goes so far. Udyr and Sona have ultimate skins too, they're both left in bad states. Eye candy gets a lot of player attention, but Meddler himself has a habit of nerfing female champions, usually ones that are already underperforming.

Rito's bias isn't completely money-driven, but it is a major contributing factor.

Uh, a good Udyr or Sona are literal gods, and you can't do anything to them or stop them. Udyr can actually 1v3 and win if he's smart, can turret dive without any tank items, and be a generally unstoppable mess all game.

I see Udyr a lot less than I used to and even back then he was still, meh. Sona on the other hand is factually the weakest support in League, has been even before her ultimate skin was released, as counter-intuitive as that is. She literally does not exist in high elo, her pickrate is a mathematical outlier. Rito lost a shit-ton of potential money on that DJ skin, solely because Meddler didn't want her to be a playable character anymore.

This is inherent proof that some Rito employees' biases aren't entirely money-driven. Like Repertoir, Jag and Fearless for example.

The fact you have the limited portraits you chose kind of proves the point right?? I mean you dont see swain complaints do you?? Urgot??? WW??? I mean I can provide you a list of almost 100 champions that rarely if ever get buffed (to the point of viability/top tier, and a handful that are constantly buffed throughout each year to ensure they are always a top pick and the moment they are not a top tier pick for a few months they get buffed again. The ironic part is they are never weak just that the FOTM OP pick player base literally wont play anything that they are not herded to. Meanwhile champs like teemo for never top tier and endlessly beat down with stupid nerfs.

Hell their own patch notes last time around identified both Jihn and Varus being stronger than MF but they nerf MF not jihn??? It boggles the mind.
