Viktor need an actual passive?

So Viktor starts the game with the Hex Core, we all know that - but is it worthy of taking up his entire passive? The Hex core is a decent AP item when fully upgraded (3000 GP) however it also takes up an item slot. So he has a passive in which he has to buy to improve his performance, taking away from other items he could purchase, AND end game it takes up a slot while other players can have full build, plus a usable passive.

I don't think he needs anything ground breaking, but a little something should be in order.

The staff is fine and gives not 1 but 4 passives. Consider also that the fully upgraded staff gives 170 ap and some useful mana. Imho vitkor is in a really good spot right now, but it sure takes some time to be played properly.

This is a massive improvement from the old one which was not slot efficient.

As for defending this current Passive, think about it this way.

Barring Rabadon's, his Augment is one of the most powerful AP item in the game in terms of providing raw power. He STARTS the game with a component meaning he is being helped to achieve that final item. And lastly, this is an item exclusive to Viktor, that in itself is a small advantage. A lot of other champions would love to have an item as powerful as the 3rd-tier Augment.

Only complaint I'd have is the loss of customizability with the new Passive and how he automatically AA's upon casting his Q.

I mean, it's certainly not perfect. And sometimes I wish I can choose to have raw mana or mana regen or hp instead. But compared to the old Passive? Big improvement.

I think Zac could use a much better passive over Viktor, at least Viktor's gives him a bit of power even if it does cost gold. I think Viktor is in a good position right now as far as mages go.
