Ekko, balanced or nah

So I was really hyped for Ekko, and got stuck in really quickly, although I was a bit concerned with the general reaction I saw. After playing him I personally felt that he is more or less fine asides from the damage on his ultimate (I am of the opinion it shouldnt be there or at least be significantly smaller). As such in games where other players gave me shite for playing an "OP champion", I didn't really respond, since I somewhat agreed. Then 2 days ago something interesting happened (I'd achieved level 4 mastery on Ekko by this point so I was rather confident with what i was doing). I was matched up against an incredibly salty Viktor, he made an impression due to the skin he used but also his decision to run teleport >_> He got destroyed in lane. And then cried I had to play an OP champion to win. I put him on ignore and continued. The VERY NEXT DAY I PLAY AGAINST THE SAME GUY. But heres the kicker. HE DID NOTHING DIFFERENTLY. I had practically showed him all my tricks the last time we faced each other, and he hadn't learnt anything. So now I'm not sure if Ekko really is as broken as people think he is. I'm not sure if you think he's broken for any form of proper reason, or he's just an assassin that can kill you (funny that).

Let me tell you, if you have any dash in lane, the only way he should be killing you is with jungler help or you straight up got outplayed. He has 1 gap closer and must hit his passive to chase further after his q slow, if you dash out of the return q thats it, he cant do anything anymore. If he keeps trying over and over again just get your jg in. he'll be flashing or ulting for sure. Instant cc works the same way, I cannot kill an Annie past 25 minutes when she has her stun up.

I will agree his ult needs attention, I mentioned what I would prefer happen to it, but other than that I think Ekko is absolutely fine.

Zed balance is for the weak

You legit asked if he is balanced then said he isnt balanced. Though your title isnt a question.

Personally I think he isn't really that bad to play against and he is alot of fun to play, the only thing that bothers me about him is the cd on his ult, 70 seconds is alot, but I also see a lot of ekko's get at least 20% cdr which makes it 56 seconds. That is a really short time for that strong of an ult.

I would like it if they altered it to work more like it did in the teaser. meaning:

  • first activate creates a start point
  • can not reactivate for 4 seconds
  • has x seconds during which he can reactivate
  • does the same thing as live
  • goes on the same or longer cd after the second activation
  • slightly reduced cd if not reactivated.

this would give better windows of opportunity to fight him

Ekko is kind of a weird pick since to dodge his abilties you need a dodge yourself now for example in top lane if you don't have take flash and your champion's kit does not have a dodge it is basically saying at level 6 no matter where you are at "come kill me". I at least when i go top i take teleport ignite , i don't have a problem with ekko though morde shield op :D.

Simple.

The only actual broken thing is his passive. Extreme damage at all points in the game with an extremely easy way to proc it.

His Q is a slow, linear skill shot. Easy to dodge, if you do take a hit, easy to not take the hit. W is a 3 second set up time that you can see happening if in your LoS, then he has to enter said field with you in it to get the 2.25s stun and shield. If you get hit by it, well. . . idk. I personally never get hit. If he is coming back to lane, assume he W's before he gets to you, so he'll try and dash at you.

His E. Maybe a bit op, idk. It's simply a gap close with some damage attached to it, although not too much. Makes getting into his W much easier.

R. Oh his R. Some people complain how good it is. How much op damage it does. The issue is. . .You know exactly where it will deal damage. The ghost shows you exactly where he will ult to. He can also use it to get away. Similar to Zed where he can ult out after an assassination, which seems relatively fair since he has to blow an ult to possibly get himself to safety.
