Because currently that niche lies with mages and especially ADCs.

But hey, don't worry, I'll just wait for my 2-3 second delay as the ADC unleashes his 2-3k dps on me and my team.

Inb4 mage mains whine that deathcap is garbage and assassins are OP. At least you guys get to actually burst, let alone from an entire lane away. We got a pen item, black cleaver, now a bruiser item. Sustain item, death's dance, now an ADC item. Defensive items edge of night and maw of malmortius, nerfed thanks to adc overlords. Duskblade of draktharr? Still better on Draven and Vayne than on Kha'zix and Talon.

I've long since given up playing assassins. Adc's and mages are where the assassination potential is at. Especially the former.

Assassins are absolutely broken and overpowered right now, especially due to the state of Lethality. When you can build a Duskblade and a Youmuu's and negate the armor given by most completed tank items, then you shouldn't think they're underpowered. And Rengar is the absolute worst offender in this category, since when he enters a bush he unlocks the following powerups:

A long-range gap-closer auto attack,
A guaranteed crit with that long-range gap-closing autoattack,
65-320 more physical damage with that long-range guaranteed crit autoattack, and 4. A 99% slow for 0.25 seconds along with that 65-320 additional physical damage long-range gap-closing guaranteed crit autoattack. And then he presses Q, which, as you know, hits twice, so he only needs to do that one autoattack and then press Q to trigger Thunderlord's, which normally takes 3 hits to activate. Also, his Q is on a 4 second cooldown at ALL levels, and Rengar's items give cooldown reduction. If you're gonna tell me thaat THAT needs a buff, you've lost your mind.

And before you accuse me of being the mage main you stereotyped in the post, I main Nasus. I got one-shotted by Rengar while I had three finished armor items.

Only when assassins stop having such a safe early game.

Bring back their shitty laning phase where they actually get stomped by mages for attempting to CS with their AA and sure, they can have the ability to assassinate again.
