"Don't be bm give the penta"

So not giving free kill = bad manners? Last time I checked you're supposed to work for a penta not get a quadra through last hitting and get a free kill.

I do anything possible to avoid giving pentas. One time I was at like 15 hp and the enemy ezreal got a quadra. He started chasing me, I knew I couldn't get away so I flashed backwards, next to their team's shen and let his sunfire kill me. LMAO, so damn funny.

IcyPepper9 votes

So you just died anyway.

The penta would have been cooler -_-

I Kill Commies47 votes

Cooler for the enemy. And, therefore, something I don't want to happen.

blkh136 votes

I see nothing wrong with that. Make them earn the penta. A penta is skill, not a right.

If you're going to die anyway, you might as well give them a penta. I mean, there's making sure they're working for a penta and then there's denying them a penta purely for the sake of being a dick or trolling them harder.

TonyTonyMordecai8 votes

I was Teemo once, and the Ezreal got a quadra... After i ran into a bush and he followed me down the river, and i walked into a bush... I guess it was unwarded for him, and then i quickly killed him. It was hilarious for both sides, my team was yelling "OOOOOHHHHHHH" in the all chat XD. I wasn't going to go down without making a last stand.

Delioth5 votes

It's even better when you're in that situation and it's Kog'Maw chasing you.

He gets the penta anyways...

TonyTonyMordecai3 votes

Wait for the other guy to press the Zhonya's Panic Button XP Not today, buddy!

I Kill Commies25 votes

If something is good for my enemies, then it is, by definition, not good for me. So why would I do it?

Arcade Andrew3 votes

because youre going to die anyways and in retrospect its better for you to give them the penta so when you kill that guy you guys get more gold off him

Delioth26 votes

By the time someone's getting a penta, they're probably maxed on bounty anyways... and if you troll the penta away from him/her, there's a chance he'll/she'll turn into a small child and rage and end up throwing. Profit.

Leetri1 votes

I had that happen in a game a couple of weeks ago, actually. The enemy Akali got so mad when she didn't get the penta she rage quit, which led to us winning the game. :D

hgjkdlsaf jeldvb1 votes

what? The bounty is never worth giving up a kill to increase unless you've already fed 0/7/0 or some shit.

Arcade Andrew2 votes

I dont get how mine even got -17 votes how? people on the forums are so superficial wow.... lol

I just said in terms of gold giving them the penta gets you more gold when you kill them

plus it gives them false hope that they can win so they get cocky and try to 1v5

hgjkdlsaf jeldvb2 votes

Which is wrong. They get another 300. They will already have a bounty, and unless it goes up by another 300 (it won't. Even from the base 300, it can only go up to 500 over several kills). It doesn't necessarily make the player cocky either. Fed, yes, every time, but cocky? Not necessarily. I don't consider that worth the risk. If they would be cocky off a penta, they'd be plenty cocky off their quad.

Arcade Andrew1 votes

even more downvotes even though its the truth, it takes 5 kills to give them a gold bounty of 500 3 kills is 300 4 kills is 400

5+=500

giving them the penta (no blantantly going out and teleporting to them to feed)

but if youre not going to escape, you should probably give them the penta so you guys get more gold out of it, and even if he was already on a spree

then ok youd give somebody else the kill make them worth gold, except theres a problem here:

when you split up the kills its giving the team singular gold to ONE PERSON

not the entire team

thats why the whole "Objectives> kills" is a thing

sure you can die 30 times to the enemy ADC but if you guys get all the turrets, you guys have map and dragon control AND YOU ONLY have to worry about one guy not all five of them

TLDR: giving the enemy a penta is always a better idea than giving the gold to somebody else in the end the penta actually hurts the enemy team as a whole rather than help it

hgjkdlsaf jeldvb7 votes

What are you smoking? This is almost never correct. First of all, giving someone a 2-4 kill streak is better than giving a penta, because their shut down is worth more per kill. Second, even with assists, the only times giving the penta is potentially worth it, gold wise, are when your whole team is on a massive death streak, in which case, your odds of getting the shutdown are stupidly low.

Here's some mechanics for you: Kill gold is based on kill streak length: 1: 300 2: 350 (+50) 3: 408 (+58) 4: 475 (+67) 5: 500 (+25)

To clarify, this gold total includes the base 300. The maximum you can get for a kill is 500. It is not cumulative.

Assist gold is always half the kill gold. It'll be split between everyone who got assists. You get an additional bonus in assist gold for having more assists than kills: +1: +0 +2: +30 +3: +45 +4: +60

Additionally, this bonus cannot be more than the kill's value, which is only the case if the player was on a 9+ death streak.

Death streak value: 1: 300 2: 275 (-25) 3: 220 (-55) 4: 176 (-44) 5: 141 (-35) 6: 112 (-29) 7: 90 (-22) 8: 72 (-18) 9 58 (-14) eventually, capping at 50 gold

In a normal scenario, everyone is worth 300 gold. No one has a shut down bonus. Enemy carry picks up 4 kills. He's now up 1200g, but his bounty is now 475 (+175 over a normal kill). Assuming he just 1v5'd, which would generate just the kill gold, he has 1200 extra gold for himself, but even if you kill him, he's only worth 943.5g total for your team if you kill him, in a best case scenario, meaning everyone on your team has 4 more assists than kills, and everyone gets an assist. This means, the killer gets the 475 shutdown, and each assist is worth the (228.5+60*4)/4, or 117 per assist. Assuming you get the kill in this case, which is pretty favored toward your team, you are down 256.5g.

But what if you give up that penta? Well, your enemy carry now has 1500g, and his bounty is now 500 (+200 over a normal kill). Again, assuming he 1v5s, and you get all 4 assists when you kill him back, you only get 990g back. Your team is instead down 510 from this trade. By giving up the 5th kill, you've just doubled the effective gold gain to the enemy team. This is of course assuming they didn't get assists.

The only time this is worth it, is if most of your team is on a 2-3 death losing streak. Your deaths need to give the carry 198 or less gold on average to be worth it FOR THIS PENTA. Of course, odds are, you won't get that. Ever. The enemy team will get assists. Getting to that point requires sicking so deep you can't practically win against players at your level.

What if there's at least 1 assist generated on each kill? Everyone is then worth 450 gold assuming they aren't feeding. Going from the quad to penta is about a 412 gold loss to add 37 gold to the enemy's shutdown value.

Giving the 5th kill is not ever worth it in any practical sense, disregarding extreme cases that are either rare or a guaranteed loss.

LeeDark2 votes

Dying to the other enemy is good for your enemies, so why did you do it?

venom0141 votes

Because he was dead anyways, so he died to the shen instead of giving up a penta kill

LeeDark1 votes

No, he THINKS he was dead anyway. He'll never actually know that is true because he didn't even try to escape.

Furthermore, if Shen would NOT have gotten an assist for the kill, then dying to Shen is actually BETTER for the enemy than giving up the pentakill. Giving the enemy a pentakill instead of a quadrakill is worth literally NOTHING more than the extra 300g.

LeeDark5 votes

Intentionally denying them the penta by purposely dying to someone else isn't making them earn it. I'm all for NOT giving them an advantage when you don't have to, but if you don't think you can escape, you should at least still TRY to escape rather than be a douchebag.

IcyPepper5 votes

Considering how rare pentas are, it's kinda worth it if it's in normals.

You were going to die either way, so why give it to Shen? Denying a penta but still dying comes off as... well, un-fun.

ZyyyZ6 votes

un-fun for who? I'll agree using flash to just die to someone else and not to escape is a little not worth. But i will say 1 out of 2,3 denied penta, the other team will rage and it is one of the rare "guilty pleasure" I have. It sure is "fun" for me...

I would probably never blow flash just to die to someone else, but nothing is more satisfying than to walk closer and attack the enemy team and have them throw out their AA,QWER (either intensional or by reflex) and denied their own teammate the penta. When their team starts to rage and fight among themselves in all chat, that's the proper way to deny penta.

Giving a free penta is intentional feeding to me =>

Kalarepa27 votes

Pentas are earned, not given.

This is what gives the Penta value.

I was in a team fight once(shocker) where a Warwick with the urf skin got a quadra, I was alistar and he would just be chasing me while I chased panth, I used W on Warwick and the pantheon threw his spear of traitorous mercy. Moral of the story is, don't give Pentas son, I don't care if it's bad manners, earn your penta, but remember that people like me will do their best to deny you of it, it's a matter of dignity and pride, don't ask us to throw away our pride and dignity. Takethehelm11 votes

I find it hilarious when Cowsep (a streamer) refuses to take the penta when the enemy intentionally gives it to him, he wants to earn the pentas, more like a mark of honor that he was able to get the pentas he got with his skill.

Brenticus128 votes

Saw this once on his stream and was very impressed. Funny how he plays Master Yi, a character known for being honorable yet the people who play him are generally dicks and then there's him, the most famous Yi player who stays true to the character of his champion.

Owntrolf10 votes

I never try to give out pentas.

It devalues what a pentakill is

Old Man Teeto8 votes

The person who after the game-ending fight where his team got wiped inside his own base, goes and sits on his fountain in the very back as the tankiest member of his team, for the slim chance the other team fountain dives to get the pentakill, that you might be able to get your own pentakill from their pride.

Yea, I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Actually, once I made it there, sold two items and bought a GA as the dive occured. We lost the game, but we survived when 4 of them suicide dove me.

Best GA purchase ever.

Chaotic Reks7 votes

reminds me of the time when i mained dar dar (DAR DAR SMASH!!!) and the only survivor of a teamfight was a vayne who made me WORK for the penta. she almost got away, but i tanked 4 turrets and almost fountain for that. It was the most satisfying thing in the game, better than her just diving into my ult.

Squeekems7 votes

Poppy I love seeing my opponent get a quadra against my team. Especially after I told my team not to fight without me.

Announcer: Double kill. Announcer: Triple kill. Announcer: QUADRA kill! SomeJerkOnOpposingSide: WHERE'S HIS PENTA? Me: /all I AM COMING! Me: /all HERE I AM!

And then, because they are all low from fighting my team, I get a penta.

I always feel it is honorable to at least turn around and fight the other guy who got a quadra. I mean, don't just press S and wait to die, but give him a a chance to fight for it.

DrMarshSwamp6 votes

Not giving someone a free penta is always hilarious, especially when they start to unconsciously target you in fights and stuff.

One time when I was playing Cho'Gath jmy team got quadra'ed by an Ezreal near his base's turret (one before inhibitor), who then took me down to about a quarter of my life. I proceeded to Flash away and he started chasing me, every time he used his blink skill or just got to close I'd use Rupture.

Chased me all the way to base and got jumped by my team for it. Rest of the match he kept trying to kill me when he had the chance.

Aheadatime6 votes

I do everything within my power to deny pentas, just like how I do everything within my power to deny all enemy kills. You need to earn it. I've only gotten a handful of pentas in my day (been playing since S2), but I've earned every single one of them. For each penta I've gotten, there was another ~10 quadra kills that ended up being denied.

Van Grants6 votes

If the person is good enough, they can get the penta on their own without the enemy team's assistance. Besides, denying a penta is just as satisfying as getting one for me so what's the issue?

Van Grants6 votes

It has nothing to do with pride, it has to do with enjoying denying pentas. Which, for a bunch of people, is satisfying too.

Kayle Intervened6 votes

If you can get the kill you deserve the penta, gifting Penta's doesn't count as a penta. You're a fraud if you get one that way and you deserve to be ridiculed.

Van Grants5 votes

If it's the end of the match and the enemy team is in my base and they got a quadra, I will walk into my fountain and sit there in order to deny the pentakill.

I'll walk into the fountain, sell everything and buy homeguards and a Zhonya's just to deny that penta. NOBODY kills me for free.

i don't give out free pentas, and i dont care if people yell at me saying BM.

had a zed wipe the floor with my team and he expected me to turn over and die so he can have a penta. so i head butted him through the wall and walked away laughing. enemy team raged at me and some of my teammates did as well yelling to report me.

Dead Echo3 votes

I remember during the first Hexakill some of the players were mad that I didn't give the opposing ADC the sixth kill; to me you have to work for it not have it handed to you. I feel the same way about pentas, when I have my first penta I chased down the last person and fought them one on one and won. I wasn't given the penta I fought for it and earned it.

Windfallen2 votes

I'll never forget my first penta.

I was playing Lissandra .

I literally just glided into the teamfight, scored a quadra with two of my teammates still alive... Leona and Udyr ... they chased the enemy Ahri from dragon pit all the way to her 2nd mid turret with me behind.... They chainstunned her until I caught up :) I'll never forget how awesome those two were... Ahri made her best attempt at an escape too.

Then my second and last penta I was playing Ashe . That was funny. Even the enemy team was just like "Lol wp ashe."

AshenFox2 votes

Don't be salty OP. Just give the guy his imaginary internet point so he can feel better about himself. Unless it's ranked. Then your opponent can suck it. :)

Skunt2 votes

Denying a penta can easily put the enemy player on tilt causing them to throw the game. Some people will hold a grudge for the rest of the game causing them to make stupid decisions. Some will think they almost got a penta once and get really greedy.

Orders1 votes

It's kind of an honour thing.

Like in sports, teammates would usually pass the ball to the player who will get a hat trick, even if they can easily score the goal themselves. It's something special and it certainly doesn't happen all the time so why not just let them have their few seconds of fame?

Although I do agree that the last man standing on the other team should make the "Quadra" player work for that last kill and not give it up freely. :)

Stars Shaper4 votes

But that isn't the good comparison.

It's like they ask for a free goal because they already scored 4
